Underwater Mics Capture Earth’s Terrifying Rumble in Japan Quake

You‘ve seen the shocking video of Japan’s 9.0 magnitude earthquake and its devastating aftermath, but a newly released audio recording offers yet another glimpse of mother nature’s awesome power.

A network of underwater observatories belonging to the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) surrounding the epicenter of the massive earthquake captured rare and haunting audio of the earth’s violent rumbling.

“Equipped with hydrophones for monitoring underwater sounds in real-time over the Internet, the LIDO [Listening to the Deep Ocean Environment] system has been continuously recording the sound of the earthquake and its aftershocks,” Science Daily reports.

The short video/audio clip tells yet another story of the terrifying experience of the Japanese people as the earth shook beneath their feet. There’s a peak of underwater noise early on, then consistent rumbling before yet another wave of strong activity.

I read last year about some nuclear bombs missing from the US. I never heard if they were found and was looking for the source where I READ IT AND FOUND THIS. Interesting and also scary.

amazing what you can find out. During the 50‘s and 60’s when we still had B-52′s flying missions from the upper great plains called “chrome dome” bombers left and returned all the time with weapons on board. It’s really interesting to read up on the attitude people and even the government had about nukes back in the day, I mean there was even a nuclear powered shoe size devise that was used. You also have to study up on this type of warefare. During the cold war, we were always told a nuclear war would wipe out everything on earth, but if you think about it and read how we and the russians viewed that kind of a war, we would accutally only have about 2% of the country have any direct effects from a blast. There would be lots of places in this country that wouldn’t even see fallout. And fallout is actually not that hard to deal with as long as you don’t breath the dust. You come decontamenate by just taking a long soapy shower and burying your cloths. What really shocked me during those years was the government using us as hostages, with that mutually assured destruction crap. The russiaans had a big time civila defense program and we were told that we shouldn‘t have one because it might make the russky’s THINK we were going to start some thing. It’s scary to think our government would tell us that and then biuld shelters for themselves.

When a moderate quake hit the Midwest in 2008 (I live in central Illinois) I swore to god I was having an acid flashback, I almost started crying thinking maybe I was gonna be screwed in the head forever. Then within 30 min or so it was all over the news…..total relief.

I, too, live in the people republic of Illinois and I remember hearing about that. I’ve been in bigger ones in the Philippines so this “little” shake didn’t even wake me up. Earthquakes are scary/cool, one minute ur scared sh%%less, the next ur saying how cool that was.
Most people don’t know we could get REALLY screwed if we have big one here in the midwest, no one is even close to prepared for one here.

Trying to find out the official measurement for how long the first big quake lasted, can’t find it. Reports so far are between 3 and 5 minutes. Listening to that 1-minute audio, and imagining it 3 – 5 times longer but also my body being on top of it and feeling it. It would be an eternity, and your mind would go, ok this is it, and you’d start making peace with God. No question.

When I see the video of different places in Japan during the quake, they all have the same look on their faces as I did the day I was pushing a wheelbarrow full of old shingles across a rooftop & stepped in an opening in the roof that some idiot forgot to close up. For a few breif moments, I thought I was about to die… It hurt like hell, too.

@FGWinFLA – Yep. For some reason it does help to research mediums who are sensitive to the other side. They provide useful information, like how suicide can make you feel incredibly regretful on the other side. It’s easy to imagine, looking down when you’re not bogged down makes it easier to see what could have been.

Ironically what makes life tolerable is that we are mortal. This life is temporary. We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience. God bless and glad you came through, and maybe I’ll see you back home.

AT EASE. I believe lib Marine IS a Marine, and it frankly scares me that he believes the way he does. I have no idea how someone can come out of the Marine Corps and be a hard core liberal. My theories are:
      1) He is gay and was discharged
      2) He was a non-hacker and was discharged
      3) He was totally useless and was discharged.
As long as the character of his discharge was General under honorable or better, then he is still a Marine. And If I am totally wrong and he served his time and was honorably discharged, then he has every right, EARNED, to speak his mind, no matter how diluded.
      Still, I have my doubts.
