Would New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie ever shoot protesters like Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi has?
Yes, according to some union protesters picketing this week in Trenton:
h/t Weasel Zippers
The AFL-CIO claims more than 1 million union members in New Jersey alone. Union boss Richard Trumka spoke to a large crowd of protesters gathered at the state capitol Friday to march in support of union workers fighting off Republican budget proposals in Wisconsin.
“What happens in Wisconsin affects every man, woman and child in America. Nothing less than the fate of our middle class is at stake,” Trumka told the rain-soaked demonstrators. “Here is the key, something that every governor and state legislator from New Jersey to Arizona, from Florida to Alaska, needs to understand. They were not elected to dictate,” the union chief said. “They were elected to solve problems, not create conflicts.”
Christie weighed in on the debate in Wisconsin this week during an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, saying the relationship between government and unions should be adversarial, not cooperative.
Reuters reports more from Trenton:
Describing the “Save the American Dream” rally outside the New Jersey State House as emotionally moving, Communications Workers of America member Jake Lake said, “There’s a war going on with the middle class.”
Signs carried by the demonstrators — who appeared to number well over 2,000 — bore such slogans as “We are one,“ ”Stop Union Busting“ and ”I support Wisconsin workers.”
Some also targeted New Jersey’s own GOP governor, Chris Christie, who in his efforts to reduce spending has tangled with public employee unions in the Garden State.
“What happens in Wisconsin could happen here,” Harry Harchetts, the business manager for a New Jersey painters and allied trades union council, told Reuters.

Posted on February 25, 2011 at 9:22pmI absolutely agree with Christie, if anyone in the union can watch his interview with Joe and still say that having to pay for any portion of their benefits is unfair then they have NO room to be yelling and ranting that big coporations are taking taxpayer dollars. I personally never understood this because it is the corporations that hire. The unions are just being greedy and could give a crap if the tax the hell out of other taxpayers. WI governor does not want to take away the unions bargaining rights he merely wants to have more control on those who under perform and he should have those rights. Any public employee that is not performing their job as they should, should be fired just like the private sector! They are no better and deserve no more than private sector employees. I believe firefighters and police should get a little more only because they do put their lives on the line to protect the citizens. However, teachers are there to teach the children and some are not performing and should be subject to being fired. They should not be allowed to keep their jobs if they don’t do it and from personal experience I have come across some that simple can not teach, I don’t care what college they went to.

(Hello, Breitbart!!) There’s sure been a huge uptick in this bad behavior, that could be easily documented for a link to Youtube… to be used for classroom debate, or Facebook linking. Next time any Dem-progressive TV commentator, like Maddow or Schultz, paints Republicans as unruly, or nazis, or whatever, one should be able to simply link to a website that shows Dems doing worse… displaying abusive mob behavior, like the hypocrites they are.

Posted on February 25, 2011 at 9:31pmWait, wait… Let me see if I have this straight. Ok, public union workers only account for 7.6% of workers as a whole. They on average make 20+% more than the average private sector worker. They took the taxpayer money they made and gave union dues which the union used to buy Democrat politicians to the tune of $13.2M last year, more than any other organization or corporation period. The Democrats then turn around and lavished unions with more taxpayer money through wages, benefits, kick backs and exemptions to costly policy like Obamacare. It‘s interesting to note that public sector jobs are the only sector that had growth last year and who’s median income increased instead of decreased…. And on top of everything else Democrats skulk away in WI like cowards to evade a vote, showing themselves to be the true union biatches they are. And Christie’s a dictator?
Does anybody else but me see an ethical problem with the relationship of Unions and Democrat politicians? Regular Americans don’t “collectively contribute” to a political machine. I work for a publicly traded company. The government imposed regulations to prevent collusion, fraud and cronieism are very intense, and rightly so (Enron). But it’s ok for our politicians to do it legally with a special interest group? How long till we have a government that is “Of the Unions, by the Unions, for the Unions? If we don’t already. I live in Vegas where SEIU “maintains” the voting machines. Maybe they should be fired as they couldn’t seem to fix the problem where the machine “auto checked” Harry Reid’s name….

There is so much fail in that statement, and so telling of the mindset of a unionized public teacher.
Make the dept of education disappear, build all private schools (or sell the existing buildings to the private sector), reduce property taxes that pay for public schools, allow vouchers for the poorer families and let the private sector teach our children so we can be on top of the world in education again.
Easy.
And if you fail to perform? No teacher’s union, or at least a weaker one, and you are fired if you fail.
Again, easy.
And we are back on top again.

It is a most incestuous and unholy relationship that has fleeced the American taxpayer for years. This garbage about protecting pay and what not is a ruse meant to garner sympathetic support and demonize any opposition. Just look at how some of the liberals have debated this very issue here. You are “heartless” if you oppose unions. Your making your fellow man who is serving your needs suffer, how can they survive? These are just 2 of the comments on this website I have read. Yet ironically the unions collective “so-called” right to bargain is NOT being hindered in any way when it comes to salary, just work environment and benefits. Agreed. I have been thrown by many huff-po idiots on here the ‘socialism“ question of ”what about (basic needs) government and isn’t THAT socialism”
Well, no, it is not. Firefighters, police, and city “catch-all” workers are necessary and funded through small municipal taxes. Firefighters and Police should be well funded as they protect local citizens as the Federal Military protects us, just in a different roll, and should be well compensated for their duties, just as the federal Military is.
However.
The federal educators and environmentalists, etc should NOT be funded by the government on ANY level. Environmantalists should be a private organization who should be able to prove their findings (as scientists) to the government, and given evidence to those accountable, should have their findings heard (unfettered by lobbyists).
Educators should be the HELL away from unions and government, and the business of teaching should be performance based at ALL levels, tenure rules dissolved, performance rules enforced. We as a country are ripe for these things, and our children are suffering trmeandously under the non-performance standards set by the teacher’s unions, and we HAVE to make this stop!
How many of you know a smart kid who dropped out of school to sell drugs? Or a smart kid who was so disgruntled that they stopped trying and went to work at the local mill or factory?
I was a SUPER smart kid who had a 1.8 GPA in high school because I had such contempt for my “educators” that I turned in NO homework, but was first to hand in a test and dirisively told the “teacher” “here’s your key” and would always get 100% on that test. I scored so high on my ASVAB test that the Navy was BEGGING me to go nuke back in 1991.
I am one of these kids today, bored to death and hold in contempt anyone who feels they can teach me what I already know. The Federal educational system in this Country has failed, and has failed for at least 30 years.
Einstein defined idiocy as “Attempting the same experiment in the same fasion, and expecting different results’

I would love to know where the poll was taken and what were the guide lines for the candidates of the poll? Were they all union members perhaps?

Posted on February 26, 2011 at 11:46amFirst vid: These union losers are despicable. With the America on the ropes they have the nerve to complain. Their “collective bargaining” is a major part of the problem at driving State deficits. There is something terribly wrong with the educational system with the amount taxpayers pay for education and the poor results. It seems the more taxpayers spend the worse it gets. Don’t cry “class warfare”, unless you are pointing at yourselves! All of you need to go on a diet.
Report Post »If you are willing to go out there and stand with Van Jones and other Communists and Socialists you are bigger losers than I realized. Stop wining.
Second vid, great job Christie, they seem to be listening. You are giving them a big dose of the truth. Keep keeping it real.
