Union Protesters Overwhelm Security and Barge Into Banking Meeting

A group of about 200 union protesters overwhelmed security at a Washington, D.C. hotel and barged into a mortgage banking meeting on Wednesday, according to the Huffington Post.

HuffPo says protesters dressed in hardhats and overalls yelled “Where are the jobs?“ and ”Where is the money?“ as they pushed through security in a ”scrum” and burst into a conference room of stunned bankers. The protest was reportedly aimed at the Pulte Group — which protesters say has received $900 million in tax breaks but has not created a sufficient number of jobs.

“Those tax breaks were supposed to create jobs,” Wayne Peworchik, one of the protesters, told HuffPo. “That was President Obama‘s and Congress’s intent.”

“Instead, Pulte laid off workers,” Peworchik added.

Protesters reportedly hailed from the Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association, the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, and the AFL-CIO.

The summit was put on by the Mortgage Bankers Association of America at the J.W. Marriott hotel. The protest, which lasted about 10 minutes, ended when more security personnel responded to the incident.

i know we’re not supposed to be inflammatory in our speach these days…..but…..union rioters (aka communists) should be dealt with most harshly, by security, by law enforcement and by the judicial system. when force is used by the leftists they should be dealt with using greater force. ‘hey union creeps’….the communists won’t raise everyone else up to your level…they will, however, tear you down to the level they deem ‘fair’. As citizens we’ll have to do it ourselves. We should be picketing the unions, the members houses, the leaderships houses, and any politician that is in their pockets.

We need to do this without violence. Let them be the thugs, and we will capitalize on it with live footage of the beat-downs. Even though we know we can kick their collective asses, we need to be victimized by them to ruin their reputation in the eyes of the public.

Let them taste some of the medicine they invented.

Uh, Pulte is a construction company and last I heard the fate of the construction industry was tied to the on-tanking real estate market. Of course they laid off workers. Looks like these union people don‘t or won’t see reality. No wonder Camden laid off all those firefighters and police once the unions said no salary/benefit cuts then they just cut people. (Of course, it’s interesting how Dems always cut essential services and education first.)

How long before they escalate to lynchings of business executives in the streets? And if that happens, and the people cry out for the government to restore order, well then, I guess El Presidente Al Barack Hussein Obama will just have to give the people what they want…by imposing a police state.

So Essobk – let me get this right… you are calling for a union because you got a gingerbread house instead of a raise? Oy vay! Your company probably didn’t use that 100000 as wisely as you would see fit to suit your own needs, but to call for a union in that case is just idiotic. I worked for a company that threw an annual Christmas party (cost lots) and one year we didn’t get raises – such is life. I made the decision to LEAVE that company and go work elsewhere for 30% more money.

Blazing, I wasnt worried about myself as you seemed to think with regards to the money the company spent on a gingerbread house, but for the !00′s that were denied a raise because of the company putting its prestigious needs over the common welfare of its employees. I will be leaving this company, as Im a retired individual just doing something to pass the time and to keep busy, however those people starting out are the ones who are going to be paying the price. Im not a union person, never had been, but if this is the way this company is going to treat its employees, I will be calling the local Teamsters so as they can make their presence and maybe the company will on its own, change their ways, before they are giving substantial raises each and every year.

Oh, I forgot they were part of the bill in the first place. You will never create jobs with masive spending and regulatons. “Top down, bottom up, inside out” Van Jones. I guess they are trying to follow those words.

Maybe they should look at their leader instead. My inlaws are big Obama Supportors and Union Workers. They Been Traveling the country looking for work for the past 18 months. My father in law decided to take early retirement because he could not find work. My mother in law has a job until June. She has a job for 6 months. Then she has to look for a new one. They believe it is all the conservatives causing the problem not the unions and the regulations being passed on to the businesses that create jobs.
Oh I forgot to mention they had a job out here but decided to volunteerally lay themselves off back in 09 just after the unemployment was extended. Sounds a lot like cloward and piven. Collapse the system. They do not care they get their money anyway they can. Make me sad.

My husband and I take a lot of grief for being Christians, Conservatives and not believing the lies the Left media spews out every time we talk to them. They will not wake up and refuse to believe that their union leaders are causing the jobless in this country. I call my father inlaw Top Dollar Because Top Dollar Trying getting us to become union workers. He said” I make $96 an hour doing electrical work through the union.” Yeah that is why there is no work for you. You get paid outragious pay for work that I would not pay for as a bussiness owner. The rest is nothing more the the spin and rhetoric of a crazed man attempting to fit square pegs into round holes. The debate is not about the facts of history, the dabate is how Beck has twisted does facts to falsely tar and feather his oppenents.

Cleon Skousen, who Beck looks to for guidance, is a prime example. His writings are extreme mormon views, not shared with members of that faith let alone the rest of the nation. His writings have been attacked by both the right and left. He is the closest thing America has to the taleban, with the merging of religon and government. My challenge is the read William F. Buckley and other critical of Skousen and the John Birch Society, where most of Beck’s ideas orginiate from.

GO back to the sources, Glenn Beck did a hit piece, he lied to his audience knowing htat they would no check the sources and facts for themselves. Two of the regimes that Beck attacks Soros for bringing down, were brutal communist regimes, in Poland and Czech. Soros aided Reagan in collapsing the Iron Curtain. Management called that a ‘red herring’. There were 300 hundred workers in the dispute, the difference in their wages was about 2 million per year. I’m not a leftist, but somebody tell me how one man isn’t worth 20 per hr and another is worth 5 million per year.

It sounds warm and fuzzy to fire the CEO and keep a hundred union guys, but it‘s not necessarily the right thing for the company and it’s thousands of other workers. All cases are different of course, but you‘d need to discuss each scenario on it’s merits and not in general terms of “big bad executive make lots of money bad, poor union chumps good”.

Businesses are not in business to make sure everyone in the local community has a good paying job. When examining bargaining disputes you must be able to seperate the emotional idea that businesses are “job providers” from the rational fact that businesses exist to make money.

Unions had their day, maybe still do, but legislation has now made them somewhat irrelevant, labor laws are rampant OSHA, etc…
And indeed, greed is corruptive, and only causes more misery on all sides. But isn’t really boiling down to values, frugality, morality and charity? The USA is losing our values, and is a nation in decline because of it? Gotta have the latest gizzmo, gotta make the better widget, but that is what makes the world go round these days, materialism. It’s called capitalism, and everyone in a capitalistic society has the SAME opportunity to fortune- you just need the cajones to risk every dollar you have in a business venture.
If I follow your logic to its natural conclusion then on years that the CEO makes nothing the workers should work for free too. If the CEO goes bankrupt, then the workers should go bankrupt too. I find it convenient that you use Mott’s as your example, when in fact, most businesses never make it to these heights. Things like that should be left to the workers and the company…period. Also, I think we need regulation that says if you are paid with taxpayer dollars, than you cna’ NOT be in a union. This is the problem even at the local level, the unions get politicians to write up stupid contracts and we the taxpayer, wind up paying thier pensions, crap on that let them use investmetns and 401K and thing WE have to use, That goes doe congress too…no more platinum parachutes

Yes we can do away with unions. Our economy is doomed if we don’t. What were the two most unionized industries in the United States? That’s right, steel and auto assembly plants. What are the two most failed industries in the United States?

Unions literally bankrupted the steel industry. They kept pushing, way beyond fair wages, until the industry was literally paying more to produce it’s product than it could sell it for. Then the entire industry simply dissapeared. No jobs for anyone no matter how much they protest. The same has been happening with the auto industry. The government keeps bailing it out to keep up the appearance that it’s not a failing industry, but they aren’t fooling anyone. The auto industry in the united states will suffer the same fate as the steel industry. And so will every other industry that doesn’t rid itself of the plague of unions.

These problems are not caused by the unions. The problems are caused by the government, allowing unions to initiate intimidation, force and violence against employers. Outlawing unions would be as much an affront to individual freedom as the special privileges the government confers on unions. Unions are okay at the local level, doing what they were supposed to do, collective bargain for the workers with the management. The problems began when the unions started taking mafia money to fund their pensions and strikes. The mafia turned them into regional unions and state unions and then when the mafia found out that there was more money in ripping off the pension funds then there was in crime, they took the unions national and became “legitimate” criminals just like most of the politicians and CEO’s they were dealing with.

Only thing is…the unions were a lot better at the game than the CEO’s and politicians and now those two are both beholden to the unions to remain in power. Hence our current state of affairs at all levels of government, union pensions are driving companies like GM, states like CA, and the Fed into bankruptcy.

Agreed. The problems are on the doorstep. The union workers will want a return on their money and can cause havoc. Yet, I do not think the real working men and women of the union force get it. They have been used, lied to, blamed, and now soon will be disenfranchised. Their point of “where are the jobs” is legitimate. I personally would like that question answered by the upper echelon. I am not a union person and would prefer to not have them in the U.S.; (they become more than they were to be); but with that said, many of us knew several years back that this time would come. The upper echelon
is in trouble and there really isn‘t any way out of it except to blame the ’other’ guy.

The union baby boomers are going to be hit hard. The are just now starting to retire. The union leadership will need to (a): raise the dues to compensate; (b): enlist more people into the union and raise the dues which will ultimately do nothing but bury those do enlist; (c): do nothing and let the chips fall where they may. barry sold our country and borrowed us into our grandkids bank accounts. The ones that will pay the price, the people of the United States.

I hope the voters of barry and his kind, (progressive) see the problems that are arising. We as a country are in the beginning of being hurt, we will be hurt, and hard times have not reached us yet.

“”Freedom isn’t free”" is such a true statement. The answer — purge the progressives from their positions and never ever forget where they were leading us.

I live in a right to work state. None the less, I joined a union when I got tired of finding tires slashed and windows broken on my car after work. When it came time to negotiate a new contract a union “Leader” flew down, told us to vote for the package the company was offering, then drove back to D.C. in his new Buick. When I got my twenty-five cent per hour raise he “negotiated” my take-home pay increased by forty cents a week. After two years of that kind of crap, I left the company and got an entry level position at a non-union company for half the pay. My union brothers told me I would be sorry because of the lower pay. With merit raises I earned, I was making $100 more a forty hour week in less than a year. I will never have another union job!!!

I mean, they can organize and do this kinda thing in the cities, but the first time they roll into my tiny neck of the woods and unload off their bus, they are gonn be runnin’ for cover, and the cover they find is gonna be manned by my cousin armed with a shotgun and a mouth full of Copenhagen, and he’s gonna smile and say :Hey darlin’! whether you are a guy or a gal. And then he’s gonna shoot that infiltrator so full of holes that dental records may not be able to help, and when he is done shooting, he’s gonna spit, reload, and sight back in. Then spit again.

And for anyone who took my last post as a “haha”, think again. This is where I grew up, on the fringe of “Deliverance” in West GA. This is FACT among these people and ALL people among the Southern States. If TSHTF, I PROMISE you the revolution will be bloody and pointed, and not a single ******* will remain, unless they spent the battle hiding somewhere to see how the outcome would roll. ALL the people I knew growing up were well skiiled in guns and outdoorsmanship. YOU WILL NOT BEAT THEM SO GIVE UP YOUR FIGHT AND PLEASE BE AMERICANS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE! YOU WILL BE KILLED FOR A LIE!!!!!!
