United Nations Votes for Iran to Police Arms Control

Let us propose a thought experiment – suppose you were assembling a Neighborhood Watch party specifically designed to find and stop locals from using drugs. Would you elect someone as a member who makes an open secret of the fact that their basement is stuffed with cocaine?

If you’re the United Nations, the answer is apparently, “Of course, why on earth not?” Except instead of stopping individual people from using drugs, this particular neighborhood watch is meant to prevent countries from developing weapons, and instead of cocaine, in Iran‘s case it’s a potential cache of nuclear weapons that is being (poorly) hidden. CNS News reports:

Iran has been chosen as a member of the “bureau” overseeing a month-long United Nations conference in New York aimed at finalizing a controversial global “arms trade treaty.”[...]

“This is like choosing Bernie Madoff to police fraud on the stock market,” said Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch, a non-governmental monitoring group based in Geneva, which drew attention to Iran’s elevation to the conference bureau.

UN Watch is urging U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to condemn the move:

“He should remind the conference that the Security Council has imposed four rounds of sanctions on Iran for refusing to halt its prohibited nuclear program, and that Iran continues to defy the international community through illegal arms shipments to the murderous Assad regime,” Neuer said.[...]

Iran’s election went unremarked until Iranian media trumpeted the development at the weekend, with Tehran Times reporting that Iran “is assisting the president of the Arms Trade Treaty Conference in the general conduct of the business of the conference” while the Iranian Students’ News Agency said that Iran “was elected as the deputy of Arms Trade Treaty conference.”

Iran Daily and the official IRNA news agency went further, both claiming that “some 193 participating countries unanimously voted in favor of Iran.” In fact, according to the conference website bureau members are chosen by their respective geographic groups, not voted on by the plenary.

Iran’s record on arms control is, needless to say, problematic in multiple ways. Even leaving aside the country’s thinly veiled nuclear ambitions, it is demonstrably true that Iran has been sending weapons to a variety of regimes considered hostile to United States interests abroad, Syria being chief among them. This is notable not only because it goes against the United States’ interests, but because it goes against a specific branch of international law which states that weapons may not be sold to facilitate human rights violations – a branch of international law which Iran would be tasked with enforcing in the event that it did sit on this particular body.

The idea that Iran can, in any meaningful sense, police other countries‘ arms shipping practices in this way would be funny if the election process weren’t so clearly broken. As stated above, Iran was elected by other countries within its region, rather than by the entirety of the UN. Cynics might argue that this wouldn’t have made much of a difference, given that the UN might have been tempted to vote for Iran simply as a show of typical anti-Western sentiment, but we’re not so sure this is the case. There are less dangerous ways for the UN to scare its enemies.

However, Iran was apparently elected only by countries from its “region,” which suggests a highly problematic attitude on the part of those countries regarding the legitimacy of the body they technically have agreed to participate in. The only silver lining in this case is that Iran is just one vote on the committee in question, the others being South Korea, Japan, Egypt, Nigeria, Kenya, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Mexico, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Australia, Switzerland and Netherlands. Most of those countries will, we hope, be able to check the toxic influence of one poorly chosen peer.

Once Dictator Obama gets the Small Arms Treaty ratified by the Senate Iran can police the arms of individual US citizens.

May I respectfully suggest that Mr Holt has not been closely following the activities of the UN in the last decade. The suggestion that a voting majority of the countries listed have any interest in the control of weapons is wishful.

Iran is the perfect choice to police the small arms treaty. They have after all been very effective at disarming their own people. I’m sure that when they arrive in the US with the help of the US military they will be fully capable of disarming US citizens, the dead ones that is. The rest of us will be sniping at them. You people still don‘t understand what’s going on. In 1936 FDR declared the federal government of the United States of America bankrupt and insolvent. That’s what happens when the federal reserve bank and trust company prints more paper then they can redeem with gold or silver, at the request of FDR and the congress. The result was a bank run in 1936 when everyone showed up and demanded money for the fed notes they were holding. The government couldn’t pay off and FDR confiscated the wealth of the nation. The collateral given to the fed was the land, everything on it, everything in it and you. That social security number is your skew number. Like a bar code in a super market. In 1972 under Brenton Woods II, Nixon untide the dollar from gold and silver completly and the federal reserve bank and trust company transferred the note to the IMF. The bankers are here to collect. Everyone should be complaining to Beck for not telling you the whole truth! There are no nukes in Iran. They aren’t working on building a nuke. They don’t want US dollars for oil. That violates the Brenton Woods II agreement. That‘s why it’s imperative that the US attack and kill them

If you want the rest of this story I’ll need a lot more than 1500 characters. But I’d rather that everyone start complaining to Beck and tell him to get his butt in gear and start telling you whats really going on. Once you have ALL of the facts this all makes a lot more sense. In the mean time your one and only hope is Ron Paul. That’s the reality. If this comes down between Romney and Obama, buy bullets, lots of them. A military grade AR15M4, a night scope, water purifying kit, iodine tabs and at least 3 months worth of food per person in your house hold. I would also highly recommend you check out the manuals on this web site, https://unitedstatesmilitia.com/

It should probably be known as the Nixon (After) Shock:

      ————————————————————-
“By the early 1970s, as the costs of the Vietnam War and increased domestic spending accelerated inflation, the U.S. was running a balance-of-payments deficit and a trade deficit, the first in the 20th century. The year 1970 was the crucial turning point, because foreign arbitrage of the U.S. dollar caused governmental gold coverage of the paper dollar to decline from 55% to 22%. That, in the view of neoclassical economics and the Austrian School, represented the point where holders of the U.S. dollar lost faith in the U.S. government’s ability to cut its budget and trade deficits.

By 1971, the money supply had increased by 10%. In the first six months of 1971, $22 billion in assets left the U.S. In May 1971, inflation-wary West Germany was the first member country to unilaterally leave the Bretton Woods system — unwilling to devalue the Deutsche Mark in order to prop up the dollar. In the following three months, West Germany’s move strengthened its economy. Simultaneously, the dollar dropped 7.5% against the Deutsche Mark.

Due to the excess printed dollars, and the negative U.S. trade balance, other nations began demanding fulfillment of America’s “promise to pay” – that is, the redemption of their dollars for gold.”
      Nixon Shock, August 15, 1971

Romney has no chance. The ABO crowd would vote Ron Paul, the Ron Paul supporters would vote Ron Paul, and independents would. Just think of the energy Ron Paul supporters would bring if we unified behind him for once. Let the GOP, Fox, and talk radio over look their anti Paul stuff for once( which has never been much more than “well he cannot win”). The guy who cannot win is Romney. Even is by some chance he won, we still lose. The United States stays in the UN, keeps the FED, Romneycare stays, the endless wars dont stop, the spending continues, and we end up bankrupt.

      Support Ron Paul.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ArUoyuDd74 Video from the 90′s including Ron Paul and warnings about the UN.

Ron Paul’s bill The American Sovereignty Restoration Act called for the withdraw from the UN by the United States. Of course this was a bill ignored by the crap hole rest of the Congress.

    Why the hell not.
Everything today is in the crapper. Why would the U.N. even try to be helpful ?
I’m going out and buy guns. Lots of guns. And knives. Maybe a flame thrower.
Do they sell cannons ? A tank would suit me fine about now. Welcome to Texas.

The United Nations: a group of nations with dissimilar goals and values , but seemingly united by a hatred for the United States, and true democracy. Filled with brainiacs who just agreed to give millions to Afghanistan after bemoaning the corruption and graft pervading that country for the past three years. What is the Obama administration thinking ? Naive Idiots. The United States should pull out of this vipers’ den filled with the Soros funded international Lefties and their Obama allies who seek goals that are NOT in the best interests of America. Hurry November. NoBama 2012. No Democrats 2012.

I don’t care who heads this UN commission, there is NO reason why the USA should take a seat at this table other than to listen then stand up and say, “sorry, our 2nd amendment doesn’t allow the UN or anyone else to dictate any law that governs the sovereign citizens of the USA”. Of course, our politicians, even 99.9% of the Reblicons and all the Democraps, want us to be taken over by a global cabal.
