University of Illinois Faculty Rally Behind Bill Ayers

As we reported last month, the University of Illinois voted to deny 1960s radical William Ayers emeritus faculty status after trustees Chairman Christopher Kennedy objected to Ayers’ book dedicate to, among others, the man who killed Kennedy’s father, Robert F. Kennedy. All nine voting university trustees either opposed granting Ayers the honorary status or abstained from the vote.
But Ayers’ fellow faculty members may be organizing a protest to repeal the decision. The Chicago Tribune reports:
Faculty leaders at the University of Illinois-Chicago are weighing whether to ask the board of trustees to reconsider its controversial decision to deny emeritus status to retired professor William Ayers. …
Some university faculty members, writing on an internal faculty e-mail service, have expressed concerns that the board turned what should have been a routine academic decision into a personal one.
In a proposed resolution, Elliott Kaufman, a retired professor of biochemistry and molecular genetics, suggested that the Faculty Senate ask the board to reconsider.
“The chair had a conflict of interest and he put the other trustees in an impossible position,” he said in an interview. “He drew a dotted line between the assassination of the Kennedy brothers and giving Bill Ayers emeritus status. The result is what we got, and I just don’t think it was a fair way to do it.”
The university’s Senate Executive Committee will take up the issue next week, said committee Chairman Philip Patston, a professor of oral medicine.

Posted on October 5, 2010 at 10:21pmHe was responsible for injuries to dozens of people, a large portion of whom were policemen, in addition to bombing police stations, the home of a judge, cars, military installations, etc. Sadly, three of his acolytes died while making bombs.
He was released on a technicality that was facilitated, I’m sure, by his rich, powerful daddy.

Any University that would HIRE Ayers and tolerate his despicable presence is fully in favor of him receiving Emeritus status. The problem is the University, the faculty and academia in general.

The fact that he has said he is not sorry for the weather underground bombings or for co-founding the group (which was officially stated to be a domestic terrorist organization by the FBI) simply shows him for what he really is: a terrorist who managed to get off the hook only due to legal manuevering. He belongs in prison, NOT a university.

Ayers lost his girlfriend in the blast…aiding and abetting if not planning more murder at Ft Dix. He raised the brat of cop killers Kathy Boudine and David Gilbert, turned him into another communist shill for Dictator Chavez and were both present in the bay area when yet another police department was blown up and a cop was murdered in the blast.. Ayers and Dohrn were there but never charged but they admit doing the same thing to the NYPD. Ayers is a communist and aided and abetted murder and attempted to murder innocent people. Still think he doesn’t have blood on his hands or tried? Ayers was lucky and had rich white parents to get him off the hook, clean him up and offer respectability for those too lazy to look into his character or care. In any event he never should have been given the position in the first place but he had a rich daddy with rich friends who looked past his commie crimes of hate.
