Update: Audio Reveals Obama Mocked Paul Ryan During ‘Hot Mic’ Session

We’ve already brought you an excerpt from the president’s “hot mic” incident in Chicago in which he asked “You think we’re stupid?” in recalling a health care conversation with Republicans. Now, ABC’s Jake Tapper has the extended version of that audio, and also reveals the president mocked GOP deficit hawk Paul Ryan and his voting record.

(Watch our original video.)

First, Tapper gives the full context of the earlier health care remark:

“And so you know they had a provision on repealing health care, they had a provision on basically repealing the EPA. They had a provision on making sure that we didn’t do anything on climate change,” the president said. “And I remember at one point in the negotiations one of Boehner’s staff people pipes up and says, ‘You don’t understand Mr. President, we’ve lost on you know, on health care, we’ve lost on the EPA, we’ve given that up, we’ve got to have something to sell to our caucus.’

“And I said to them, let me tell you something: ‘I spent a year and a half getting health care passed. I had to take that issue across  the country and I paid significant political costs to get it done. The notion that I’m going to let you guys undo that in a 6 month spending bill?’ I said, ‘You want to repeal health care? Go at it. We’ll have that debate. You’re not going to be able to do that by nickel-and-diming me in the budget. You think we’re stupid?’”

Then he explains the president’s criticism of Ryan:

“Eliminating the health care bill would cost us $1 trillion dollars,” the president said. “It would add $1 trillion to the deficit. So when Paul Ryan says his priority is to make sure, he‘s just being America’s accountant and trying to you know be responsible, this is the same guy that voted for two wars that were unpaid for, voted for the Bush tax cuts that were unpaid for, voted for the prescription drug bill that cost as much as my health care bill — but wasn’t paid for. So it’s not on the level. And we’ve got to keep on you know, keep on shining a light on that.”

You can listen to both below:

Update: Audio Reveals Obama Mocked Paul Ryan During Hot Mic Session

And finally, Tapper details the comments the president made regarding defunding Planned Parenthood, including an apparent veto threat:

About the GOP attempts to de-fund Planned Parenthood, the president said he told Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, was “‘You guys want to have this debate? We’re happy to have that debate. We will have the debate on the floor of the Senate or the floor of the House. Put it in a separate bill. We’ll call it up. And if you think you can overturn my veto, try it. But don’t try to sneak this through.’”

“The interesting thing actually is how little traction these social issues are getting these days,” the president said. “I just think the country is moved into a different place. I think there are some folks who feel very strongly about it. But a lot of these hot button cultural issues, I think there’s a generational change taking place in part where people say, ‘You know what, we may have disagreement about his, but this is not what we’re worried about. We’re not worried about the gay family next door. We’re not worried about what women are doing in terms of maintaining their health. We’re trying to figure out how to move America forward.’”

You can read the rest over at Tapper’s blog, including Ryan‘s and Boehner’s reactions (hint: Boehner’s is quite curious).

The worst part is that we’ve got wimp Republicans as his lap dogs that will continue to sell us out. Even the Ryan budget does not ‘fix’ the problem… compromising on a plan that doesn’t fix the problem just makes it worse. And NO long-term budget has ever survived. We‘re lucky if the budget for a single year isn’t violated. Ten years… yeah, right.

That‘s like saying that we’ll get anything of consequential substance for kicking the can down the road and voting for the 75th increase of the Debt Ceiling. Each time the plea was “just this once more, and we’ll get spending under control”. “This time for sure…”. “We can’t afford not to”. Again, yeah, right. We can‘t even seem to get a cut equal to the interest we’re paying on the debt every year… Last year interest was $414 Billion, this year we close on half a Trillion! If we can’t even cut that from this budget, we should not raise the Debt Ceiling and take our medicine now. Like I’ve said, we’ve had our private areas waxed, and the only choices we have left are to rip it off quickly, or pull is slowly and feel the pain of one hair at a time. That’s reality folks. One or the other… unless you want to wait until twice as much wax is on your children or grand-children, that is.

The problem is, on the right we see continued things like this going on and we don’t act on it. We see the lies, we see the corruption, we see the clear links to communists, socialists, and clear enemies of not only our Country but our entire Western way of life, and we do nothing. My grandmother is your typical conservative. In private speech she hates everything that is going on. She can see all of this, but her frame of mind is “you just don’t badmouth the POTUS, it’s unAmerican”. Alot of people are trapped in this mindset. Conservatives are generally quiet, keep to themselves, leave me alone and I’ll leave you alone kind of people. They generally do not get loud, they do not get “active” or “involved”. They look at what the liberals and democrats do with all the protests and marching and activism as completely insane. They sit and wait, sometimes until it is too late. The problem with this is what the democrats are doing is working. The vast majority of voters 18-35 were NOT raised on the same ideals that the older generation were. They do not hold the same views about this Country that previous generations did. They do not see America as the greatest place in the world. Their views are that America is wrong. America is somehow unjust, somehow broken. That America needs to be fundamentally changed. And they were not taught the same History and view of America older generations were. They are emotional and misguided, but they THINK they are HELPING, and they will vote. They will get out there and march, they will have their voices heard. Most conservatives see that its wrong, and will complain about it online, or fire off a letter to their representative that they will NEVER read, or complain about it at a meeting or church, but that’s as far as it ever goes.

If we want this country to return to it’s founding values and principles, if we want the Constitution upheld, if we want to see America once again be the greatest Country on the face of the Earth, we need to act NOW. It is easier to fight to keep freedom than it is to get it back once they take it away. Once something gets upheld in the courts it is decades or if ever it gets reversed. We have to stop waiting. We need to stand up for our Country while we can. In earlier times, this kind of outright, in your face actions and associations displayed by the left, and the blatant ties to socialists and communists would have been outright called what it was, treasonous, seditious, and it would have never stood. Now we don’t even see it called what it is, or even reported on, yet we sit on our hands and cry “wait till 2012!!” 2012 may be too late folks. The barbarians are at the gates NOW…

THE AUDICITY OF mentioning OBAMACARE and the fraud that was done to the taxpayers “passing” it by hook and crook (more crook than hook) would have resulted in PRISON with all the number wrangling, hiding, bribing, etc. in any other company, school, business, whatever, except here. WHY IS THAT. ALL that voted for Obamacare should be charged with fraud and that’s the nicest that it could be called!

The behavior here was underhanded, and just plain mean same as when this President set up the SUPREME Court Judges at the State of the Union speech. HONORABLE PEOPLE DO NOT DO THIS!

AND WITH THE EXAMPLE OF ALL THE LYING GOING ON with the FED and this ADMINISTRATION, What I do not understand is:
WHY the House doesn’t demand an AUDIT OF THE FED BEFORE any vote on the debt ceiling is taken; would you put money in a business without seeing its books?

Would you trust or believe people who have continually led with this kind of example?

The President is right about Mr. Ryan’s voting record. Under the Bush administration, Mr. Ryan had a very unconstitutional and fiscally irresponsible voting record. The true mark of a politicians character is how they voted when their party was in power. Its easy to champion the constitution when the opposition party is in power but how did he vote when the republicans were in control? Mr. Ryan fails that character test miserably.

As for me, I’m very impressed with Ryan – very, very smart, quick, knows what he’s doing, very articulate, conscientious, acknowledges & recognizezs the real problems and not afraid to speak his mind. Perhaps he’s not perfect but those qualities are big necessary pluses in my mind.
Obama is so narrow-minded, arrogant, stubborn, short-sighted, non-discerning, foolish, etc., etc. that he doesn’t see how most Americans think & the tide has changed where we are even more passionate about social issues – such as abortion. Polls say most are pro-life now. But he’d probably deny it if it was put right in front of him. I’ve noticed libs seem to have deluded themselves into thinking THEY are really the “mainstream”. They also underestimate the “opposition”…their nunbers, passion & determination to rid ourselves of his ilk. Oh well………they’ll just have to be shown by losing from 2012 onward…….

You had it all going on in the run and had it all falling down during the term. Jimmy Carter, another failure, will sit above you poll numbers and as more of a success. You will go down in history as the man that bankrupted this nation in the name of marxist causes with you bud George Soros. You will go down in history as the first black yet worst. You set an example for people now and its not very good. It will be a long time before a black (looking) democrat will be elected in this nation. Is it possible that the economy is so more stable than it has been for the last three years that we can begin to throttle it now, and since it takes two to tango, what we are seeing is entirely normal and necessary.

A good approach would be to pay for the two Wars, Medicare D, and finish up with the War On Terror – Go back to Day One of the Bush administration and reduce Government back to what it was before we became fearful slaves of Government.

Then, after 3-5 years we would not be paying 42 cents interest on a dollar spent. And our Kids would have a future.

This is the most classless, pathetic excuse for a POTUS that has served in my lifetime. You can take Obama out of the jungle but you can’t take the jungle out of Obama, and I don’t care where he was educated. It doesn’t speak very well of the acceptance committee that they accept this man into Harvard (I wonder if he had to use a teleprompter in law school or did someone just buy his degree for him) and they should be embarassed at the way he represents the school, POTUS or not.

Obama is still a hypocrite, he opposed two wars and started one.

If Ryan voted for two wars, I am thinking that fiscal responsibility had nothing to do with it. You can vote for war if you feel it is the moral and right thing to do. So to accuse him of fiscal irresponsibility is irresponsible itself. When these wars were initiated, no none knew how long or how costly they would become.

And for Obama to warn that the Repubs better not try to ‘sneak things through’ is absolutely ludicrous. What does he think he did with the healthcare debacle? I guess it’s do as I say, not as I do if you’re a progressive.

President Obama attacks Paul Ryan’s position by complaining about his voting record. Progressive Liberals like to use logical fallacies as if they were logical arguments. This is pure ad hominem on a Representative by the President of the United States.

      Grow up, Mr. President.

“You can read the rest over at Tapper’s blog, including Ryan‘s and Boehner’s reactions (hint: Boehner’s is quite curious).”

Couldn’t find their responses on the ABC/Tapper site. Anybody here have a link?

You guys got punked on this one. You think that was an accident that Obama let slip some of his thoughts out about Ryan voting time and time again for legislation that bloated the deficit and is now claiming to be so concerned about the deficit that he’s bloating the deficit further by giving to give tax breaks for the wealthiest, people and corporations now making more than the ever had in American history? And, to balance that take away food stamps from the poor?

This isn’t about the deficit. This is about taking food out of the mouths of the poor to give more money to the incomprehensible wealthy donors of the Party.

Nope. Sorry, not an accidental “hot mic” moment.

59% of of Planned Parenthood abortions are performed on black women. Obama supports Planned parenthood. No matter how you read it, Planned Parenthood activities result in fewer black children and more available black women. I think we need to bow to Obama’s wisdom on this one.

my problem is that all they ever talk about is entitlements which yes need to be dealt with. however, they never discuss the 200k govt. employees hired since obama became pres. they dont talk about czars. they dont talk about chinese trade imbalances nor nafta trade imbalances. what of the 2 billion for brazil to drill for oil? since were on the subject, its proven that the United States has the largest oil and natural gas reserves in the world. how much money would that put into our economy and how many jobs and tax money would that provide? really folks we need to start with your food stamps never mind you havent worked in a year. BE PREPARED!!! collect food, water (filters), ammo
