Update: Can Australian Police Look Under Muslim Veil? New Law Says Yes

In Australia, New South Wales passed a law that would allow police officers to request a Muslim female driver remove her face veil for identification purposes.

NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell said the cabinet approved the decision on Monday to allow proper identification of motorists:

“I don’t care whether a person is wearing a motor cycle helmet, a burqa, niqab, face veil or anything else, the police should be allowed to require those people to make their identification clear.”

While Australian Federal law prohibits restraint on the free exercise of religion, analysts say there is no such restraint on the passage of a state law.

A couple of weeks ago, The Blaze covered the case that has spawned all this legal wrangling here. Carnita Matthews, a Muslim woman, refused during a traffic stop to remove the face veil on her burka. She then claimed the police officer tried to rip it off of her.

A video captured that incident, which was used to convict Matthews of making a deliberately false statement. As a result, she was sentenced to six months in jail.

On appeal, however, a judge overturned that verdict because he could not determine that Matthews was definitively the person who made the claim. She had her Burka on and was not positively identified at the time.

CNN has more:

This new law will likely prevent — or at least limit — uncertainty when incidents between Muslim women and law enforcement officials occur.

The veils must interfere with peripheral vision.

Just by exposing these oppressed and brutalized women to western culture the burqa will become a thing of the past within a few decades. At least in theory. Never underestimate the power of sex, freedom and individual rights (women’s rights). Its a potent combination for young people to rebel against the religion of their parents as I’m sure most Christians here will attest.

I wish more people would look at Islam with the desire to help its followers evolve and become more enlightened and less religious instead of declaring them all “the enemy” that needs to be eradicated. Its just not a good tactical approach in this conflict in which we find ourselves. Ideas are most important.

Freedom is an idea. Religion is an idea. They tend not to go together too well. Yet they both must exist wihout trammelling the other. It is a tricky formula.

We in the West are lightyears ahead of the Arab countries. Not just in our societies and institutions but in our knowledge and understanding of basic inherent freedoms and rights (yes that includes the tea party and the progressives).

“Bottom up, top down and inside out” is a great way to spread any idea.

Use it to spread freedom. Use it against theocratic Islam and its veil of repression will fall!

It is about as assinine you can get to require someone to have their picture on a driver’s license and then not be able to identify them because they are wearing an ugly black burqa!

There is nothing in Islam that requires these women to wear burqas. It was imposed on them by the male supremacist Imams in the treacherous Muslim Brotherhood who want absolute control over all Muslim women. This is not a religious requirement. It is the requirement of male Muslim Supremacists who control all aspects of the Muslim women‘s life under the Imam’s false Sharia.

Hopefully this sort of thing won’t happen in America if we wise up and completely outlaw Sharia, which would be treason if it was imposed anywhere in America, and try everyone in Hamas-linked sugar-coated CAIR in court for treason for litigating us to death and attempting to impose Sharia on America.

The U.S. Constitution is the law of our land and imposing Sharia would be advocating the overthrow of our government and the U.S. Constitution which would be treasonous. It is no wonder that the Progressive Left and the Islamists want to make our U.S. Constitution null and void! They want to replace it with brutal Sharia!

Hey, now that would send us back to the Stone Age. In fact the Stone Age was more humane than the 21st Century under Islam where they carry the cut off hands and feet around on skewers and stone women to death for what the Male Supremacists do on a regular basis!

I’m a leftist Progressive, and I do not want to impose Sharia on America. I’m pretty sure most of us don’t. However, we also don’t want to “try everyone in Hamas-linked sugar-coated CAIR in court for treason for litigating us to death.” Advocating changing the law is not illegal or treasonous, it is a precious right, even if people use it to advocate changes that neither you or I would like to see.

    Bottom line follow up.
THEY are coming out of the dark ages and the old mullahs will get over it.

Go on youtube and see how the youth over there have fun.
The mullahs are NOT winning the hearts and minds.
THEY (the people) want to be like us.

It’s kind of like the unions in their last throws.
(They are losing and FREEDOM is winning)..
They too will pass and those folks over there will overcome.

All I know is that I knew some pretty hot Arabian girls
when I live in Saudi Arabia.
Back in the late 70′s, they didn’t want to (and many didn’t) wear burkas or veils.

The old school Muslims were NOT to happy about it.
But most the indigenous people loved it. :-)

The “veil” of secrecy concerning barry soetoro’s ineligibility to be potus is about to be lifted. orly taitz finally got her subpoena for his manufactured “birth certificate” by the federal district court in hawaii. the muslim/marxist soetoro will probably want to wear a burka for disguise as he sneeks out the back door of the white house before he is kicked out the front door.

No you can’t, because a baklava is a gooey Turkish pastry drenched with honey. A balaclava is a ski mask, and you can drive with one because it doesn’t limit your field of vision the way some chadris do, though I don’t recommend going into the bank with it on.

Many Americans continue to fool themselves into accepting TSA abuse by saying “I don’t mind giving up my freedoms for security.” In fact, they are giving up their liberties and not receiving security in return. Last week, for example, just days after an elderly cancer victim was forced to submit to a cruel and pointless TSA search, including removal of an adult diaper, a Nigerian immigrant somehow managed stroll through TSA security checks and board a flight from New York to LA — with a stolen, expired boarding pass and an out-of-date student ID as his sole identification! He was detained and questioned, only to be released to do it again 5 days later! We should not be surprised to find government ineptitude and indifference at the TSA.

WELL CAN FRANCE BAN VEILS ALL TOGETHER, WELL YES THEY CAN, AND YES THEY DID.

There have been numerous female suicide bombers hiding under the veil. There are numerous males who have hidden under the veil to do horrendous things. There have been numerous times that Muslims have called bigotry when someone is asked about the hajib or veil.

Remember the women coming into RightOnline and accusing them of discrimination. It was PJ TV that confronted them and their little supporter to find out they knew nothing of what they spoke about: here is the clip: http://tiny.cc/1ao01

How is it that we should allow it. The TSA is nervous to search them, the police let women off because they are wearing them. They may work in the Middle East, sometimes not even there, but they do not really work in the US, not since Muslim Radicals declared war on the USA.
