On Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., asked his Republican colleagues to rethink their budget cutting proposals, citing an annual festival of cowboy poetry sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities — an agency the GOP seeks to defund.
In a Wednesday interview with Fox News, Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., acknowledged Reid’s unique plea, but insisted the country’s deficit was a bigger concern than preserving poetry festivals:

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 11:53pmLet me tell you about Harry Reid. I am a Nevadan who is completely ASHAMED of and Harry Reid and will now tell you a couple of reasons why. First, my son is an autistic musician who (with his group) performed for Harry Reid at a political function in Reno a few months ago – before the November elections. These kids practiced for months before the event and looked forward to (not only) playing for Harry Reid but also meeting him after the show. But alas, after playing their hearts out for Harry Reid he not only refused to meet with the kids but also left the meeting room before the kids were able to get off the stage. He didn’t even applaud. Second, he LIES to the people of Nevada (and the rest of the country) as a matter of habit and the most recent example is his statement that the Cowboy Poetry Festival brings in “tens of thousands of folks” who presumably support the region and create jobs. This would be a joke if it wasn’t so pathetic. I’ve been to the Cowboy Poetry Festivals over the years and can testify to the fact that in NO WAY are there EVER “tens of thousands of folks” in attendance and NO jobs are created – except the one or two week hotdog and beer stand operators who hire a few kids as laborers. This statement is just an attempt to elicit billions of tax dollars for Nevada we don’t need and cannot afford.
Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Obama STEALS from the American People in order to give certain friendly corporations, causes and “friendly states” a little “taste.” And (by doing so) intend to “whet their beaks” at the slime trough as well. As a proud Nevadan, I wish Harry would just retire to his velvet lined SLIMETRAP he calls a home in Searchlight and just fade away…he is a disgrace and poor excuse for a human being.

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 11:42pmReid is trying to slam Elko not help it. Elko County Nevada voters resoundingly voted againt him last Nov. This is his payback. He’s trying to give Elko bad press, and hurt Elko’s conservative citizens. I doubt seriously if the Cowboy Poetry Event gets much if any $s from the Feds. I personally would oppose it if it did, as I suspect most of the citizens of this rural county would if given the knowledge. It’s a pity that Reid and his RINO, boot licking friends (like Dean Rhoads & Raggio), opposed Sharon Angle who would have represented the true values of rural Nevada.

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 11:00pmThe scumbag Reid is killing 2 birds with 1 stone here. Cowboy Poetry? How gay is that? They all read their 3rd grade poems, just like at an NPR Slam, but then they all go back to their little pub tents and *********. And you pay the dummycraps for all of it. See, the queers are still voting for Harry. But even the whores are not low enough to support him any longer. They will not even let him swim in the pool. LOL.

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 10:10pmWhy should ANYONE be moved by Reid’s ridiculous plea… its idiotic at best:
Cowboy Poet’s want to keep doing their Art festival… great!!! Then do it the old fashion American way: Find Donors and Sponsor’s for the event!!!
Sell tickets for entry, have food and concession vendors to rent spaces and get a 2% take of their profits… in short, its called FREE MARKET CAPITALISM!!!!
There is NO reason why one single penny of taxpayer dollars should have to go to fund such an event, Reid you continue to show how STUPID you are when it comes to Economics 101 !!!!!!!!!!

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 9:47pmI still contend Sharon Angle would have won the election if it wasnt for the “glitches” in the voting machines, which are serviced by the SEIU. WHY wasnt there an investigation?

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 9:39pmMay be Harry has had his fill. After working so closely with Nancy these last few years, he deserves to be out in the middle of the desert writing poetry. Something like;

with spurs a jingling,
Heard yonder Chris,
his leg a tingling,

by name of Nancy,
Spent Your cash,

Now its time,

Cut your herostat back to just 63? Mine stays on 55. I don’t have cable or satellite, never eat out, NO cell phone, drinking tap water or filtered in the fridge, and extra cover on the bed. I buy Bucky‘s dog food from Aldi’s because it’s 55 cents a can, cheaper than anywhere else, and it’s the only dog food Bucky even likes.
Guess what, Reid?! I’m not a cowboy poet, but I exist. Why can’t the cowboy poets exist?

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 9:17pmShowtime, Harry Reid is not a senator up for re-election, he was just re-elected. We will have to suffer him for some time. That said, if we can get a majority Senate this next election cycle, it won’t matter how powerful he is. What I really want though, is fewer flubbering Republicans, and more people like Pence and Ryan.

No, I’m in MO District 1. Lucky me, I have William “Lacey” Clay, going on 12 years, with his father Bill Clay for 30 years before that. Our Republican Party does have a primary and then they disappear. You‘d think they’d at least run a radio ad or two and just ask people if they can find one thing about their lives that’s better for having had a Clay represent them for 42 years. I’ve tried to find a local Republican committee but it looks like the committee members, all 2 of them, both live in the 2nd district. This one of those “automatic” Democrat districts because we have the north side of the City of St. Louis and the adjoining “suburbs” or, to be blunt, the first areas to fall victim to white flight. The worse things get, the stronger the Democrats become.
