Update: Herman Cain Doubles Down on Claim That He Won’t Appoint Muslims to Cabinet

As The Blaze reported earlier today, possible 2012 GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain has been taking some heat for saying that he would not appoint any Muslims to his cabinet:
No, I will not [appoint a Muslim to my cabinet]. And here’s why. There is this creeping attempt, there is this attempt to gradually ease Sharia law and the Muslim faith into our government. It does not belong in our government. This is what happened in Europe. And little by little, to try and be politically correct, they made this little change, they made this little change. And now they‘ve got a social problem that they don’t know what to do with hardly.
Appearing on Fox News’ Neil Cavuto show today, Cain doubled down on this claim.
Here’s what Cain said:
I did say no and here’s why…I would have to have people totally committed to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of this United States. And many of the Muslims – they are not totally dedicated to this country, they are not dedicated to our Constitution. Many of them are trying to force Sharia law on the people of this country.
He did back-peddle a little bit when he told Cavuto that he would consider appointing a Muslim to his cabinet, if that Muslim denounced the imposition of Shariah law in the U.S.
According to CNN, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) was outraged by Cain’s remarks. CNN reports that to CAIR:
Cain’s words show how “right wing” conservatives are currently engaging in Muslim bashing….”Even post 9/11 you didn’t have this level of mainstreaming of anti-Muslim hate as you have now,” said Ibrahim Hooper, National Communications Director for CAIR.
Cain also said on Fox News today that “being politically correct isn’t something I’m going to spend a whole lot of my time worrying about.”

As far as i can see, once the outer most layer is peeled awsy from islam hate not love is exposed. Look it up . Posted on March 28, 2011 at 11:14pmYou are so very right! I have been saying for a long time, there is no such thing as “radical Islam”… Islam is Islam, period, paragraph. Sorry Blaze, but this totally undermines your headline saying he doubled down. He made a critical concession.
I wouldn’t appoint ANYONE to the cabinet, Muslim, Christian or Buddhist who didn’t condemn the imposition of Sharia law in the US. This one concession removes his prohibition from the ranks of religious ddiscrimination and puts it squarely in the arena of political philosophy.
He needs to be better at making this point. We don’t just need a ballsy candidate. We need a smart one as well.

Mr. Cain didn’t back track, the original question was would you feel comfortable appointing a muslim. The answer was NO. With Cavuto he elaborated that during this presidential exploratory period with the truth of his position, Cain has yet to acquaint himself with anyone of the Muslim nature who has expressed the desire to fill any of his needed appointments should he be blessed with the presidency. Nor is willing to waste his time going out to find such a person. Unlike the sitting president who acquaints himself with criminals and all those issues that surrounds such minds.

There’s only one problem here, all you patriotic Constitution loving Blazers. He’s saying outright the he would violate the word and spirit of the United States Constitution.
The “No Religious Test Clause” of the United States Constitution is found in Article VI, paragraph 3, and states that:
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.
You wrap yourself in the Flag and Constitution, except when your fears and hatred are aroused. Then you cheer for a man who espouses beliefs directly contrary to the Founding fathers and has stated right up front that he will impose a “Religious Test” on any off or position of public trust, in direct contradiction to the Constitution.
It’s pathetic, but you love it.. But to be honest, I hope he runs and wins the Republican nomination. Then he can explain to the entire country why he hates Muslims more than he loves the Constitution of the United States of America.

The Constitution says, “no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.” That’s clear enough. If you Muslim cannot be a judge or hold other public office, that’s a religious test.
Cain is saying right up front that he would ignore the Constitution if he became President. Not to mention the Equal Opportunity Act, which prohibits a potential employee from discrimination on the basis of religion, among other things.
You may proudly wear bigotry on your sleeve, and cheer for a candidate that would willfully and openly violate the Constitution and laws of this country, but the Founders would be very ashamed of you.

__________________________________________________________
JZS you’re correct that is in the last paragraph of Article VI, however, you’re wrong about Cain he is following the Constitution. Did you ever read the second paragraph, or did you just copy and paste that quote from a progressive site? Here is the second paragraph, “This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.” In a nutshell this states that the Constitution is the supreme LAW of the LAND, and nothing can replace it. We all know shariah is the antithesis of our Constitution so if anyone wants to bring shariah law into our government would be an unconstitutional act of any member of congress, or government official, or the president.
I find ironic how you and your friends are all for shariah, but don’t believe in corporal punishment. I thought you were for homosexual and women’s rights? You caught stealing you lose a hand, you kill someone you are killed, a woman is raped and she is killed, unless she has 4 muslim men to vouch that she was truly raped. Shariah law homosexuals and women are treated badly, in fact homosexuals are killed according to shariah if found out. We all see how women are being treated all over the world and including this country with the honor killings and beating of women. Seriously are you all for and want shariah law to usurp the supreme Law of the Land?

You have the same clownish caricature of Muslims, something this website promotes. I’ll humor you though. Do you believe in Christian law? The bible calls for the death of fortunetellers, adulterers, anyone who works on Sunday (Exodus 31:12-15 NLT – ever worked on Sunday?), kids who hit their parents, followers of other religions etc. There’s a long list. If you don’t believe that people should be killed for working on Sunday, which the Bible states, why would you suppose every Muslim believes the things you list in your post?
Anyway, it’s pointless to argue. When people get it in their heads that “all people of this particular group are like this” (such as the idea in the last century that all black were lazy, unintelligent or whatever else), that kind of bigotry sticks because, somehow -ask a psychologist why – those ideas make some people feel better about themselves. It’s a self-reinforcing idea.
In any case the Constitution is clear. There can be no religious test for public office or position of trust. You talk about the law of the land, but that’s MY point not yours.
You want shred the law of the land, because you have a God-like ability to know what is in the heart and minds of all one billion Muslims in the world (not to mention liberals). Must be nice.

OUCH…….That’s gonna leave some MARX
You are ignorant.
It only means that someone does not have to be any particular faith to be qualified.
Just because one is qualified, does not mean he must be considered.
Again, you may be qualified to be a sanitary engineer, but I would not consider you because you are a filthy marxist.
Oh, by the way, thanks for taking the time out of your day to grace me with a response.

Posted on March 29, 2011 at 3:43pmThe dems try to sidestep the constitution at every turn. How about the healthcare bill? They did not follow the rules on that. They used a technique that was not meant for passing laws. Theres one jzs. Just one.

Here you go senior jackass. For argument sake this your party claiming he is violating the Constitution. Also jackass, it’s void of all troll like remarks from you and your fellow jackasses. Like you jackasses must have missed it. Also, like the way all of you jackasses forgot to read the stories of more jackasses assualting Tea-Party members. However, trolling jackasses like yourself point the finger(with not one shred of evidence) at the Tea-Party for being violent. As for someone assuming something about your jack-ass, they just figured you agree with all the hypocritical things the party of jackasses stand for. Like homosexual rights…then fly over and bump elbows with chavez. Typical jackass behavior. I also like the part of your jackass accusing the blaze for editing the clip while you cut the Constitution short. I guess it would also offend your jackass if obama passes on a Pro-LIfe justice. I am sure you wouldnt…because you are a hypocrite, and a jackass.
Like they say. You can lead a jackass to water but you cant make it THINK.

Posted on March 30, 2011 at 12:34amIAMADOG, you must be joking. You think I made those things up?
A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. (Leviticus 20:27 NAB)
The LORD then gave these further instructions to Moses: ‘Tell the people of Israel to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you forever. It helps you to remember that I am the LORD, who makes you holy. Yes, keep the Sabbath day, for it is holy. Anyone who desecrates it must die; anyone who works on that day will be cut off from the community. Work six days only, but the seventh day must be a day of total rest. I repeat: Because the LORD considers it a holy day, anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death.’ (Exodus 31:12-15 NLT)
Look it up. Your version of the Bible may differ, but I think the death penality holds throughout. By the way, Biblical references don’t go by “pages” DOG.
Others? Ask Newt Gingrich if he believes in the Bible:
If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death. (Leviticus 20:10 NLT). He committed adultry by his own admission twice with his first two wives. Not sure what the Bible recommends about that.
How about killing non-Christians?:
If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him. Your hand shall be the first raised to slay him; the rest of the people shall join in with you. You shall stone him to death, because he sought to lead you astray from the Lord, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. And all Israel, hearing of this, shall fear and never do such evil as this in your midst. (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB)
Okay, now tell me what part of the Constitution Obama has violated. The legistlation you mention is going through the courts (I noticed you gave no reference to the Constitution, not one) and at the state level, three courts have agreed with Universal Health Care, and two against. But you don’t know what part of the Constitution the courts disagree on do you?
So give me an example! Put up or shut up!

Posted on March 30, 2011 at 7:57amYes, I do. Herman Cain is a man with honor and patriotism for America. And, I hope he receives the G.O.P. nomination. He’s the only one that will beat the treasonous, anti-American muslim in office. Barry is a fraud who is one of the enemies within. IF the punk in the WH is re-elected we can all say good-bye to the United States of America. Oneday, we will awaken, turn the television on to finally witness Obama in full muslim garb. Just wait and see. It will eventually happen.
