UPDATE: Illness Kept Teen From Joining Family on Plane Trip — Crash Killed All Seven

The Florida family killed when their plane crashed in Alabama returning from a St. Louis family reunion Saturday, will carry on through their 16-year-old daughter who did not accompany them on the trip because she was sick.

Fred and Terresa Teutenberg died along with five of their children under the age of 10, but Terresa’s oldest child from a previous relationship, Ashlei Bruewer, 16, was not on the plane. Bruewer had this to say following her family’s tragic crash:

“Every single one of the kids was bright and always laughing. My mom was always smiling and extremely caring..my stepdad was a great dad and was always helping people in any way he could.”

Relatives said the Teutenbergs were flying back Saturday so they could make it to church the next day. Searchers found the plane around 2:17 a.m. Sunday. The crash site was in a densely wooded area only accessible by all-terrain vehicle. Marengo County Coroner Stuart Eatmon said the plane was upside-down and one of its wings had broken off, apparently as it crashed into trees.

FAA records show that the plane was built in 1978. It’s registered to Advanced Integrated Technology Solutions LLC in Niceville, Fla. Local NWF Daily News reports that Eatmon spoke to Fred’s father after the crash. Fred Sr. said he had been on his son to buy a newer plane if he was going to fly with his entire family, Eatmon said.

Terresa owned the Discovery Learning Academy who released a statement Sunday night that said the academy family was deeply saddened by the news.

“She was an excellent leader and role model. Her work within the school and the community will be greatly missed. She was patient and loving with the children in the school. Discovery Learning Academy was her pride and joy. She opened this center to serve a need within the community. She loved every single member of the Discovery family.”

UPDATE: Illness Kept Teen From Joining Family on Plane Trip Crash Killed All SevenThe Discovery Learning Academy is a preschool in Bluewater Bay, FL, with the mission “to facilitate healthy social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth and development for children in a secure, nurturing, healthy and educational surrounding.”

Fred Teutenberg had a company called Advanced Integrated Technology Systems, and was also active in youth soccer as a coach with the Emerald Coast United travel soccer club and as the head coach of the Ruckel Middle School boys soccer team.

As a coach Fred emphasized “Striving for Perfection, Settling for Excellence.”

“He not only played with our band, he played with other church bands elsewhere,” said Bob Webb of Fred, a friend and member of the family’s church. “He told me one time he even toured a while. So he had a lot of interests.”

While investigating the crash the National Transportation Safety Board revealed it would take a long time to investigate the incident because the wreckage was so deep in the woods.

Video below gives an idea of the grizzly scene, with bodies “burned beyond recognition”:

HOLYGHOSTBUSTER is a miserable Troll who FEEDS on Tragedy and uses the suffering of others to vent his/her pathetic frustrations.

HOLYGHOSTBUSTER obviously never received proper attention as a child or was instilled with any morals or he/she would not GLOAT over the deaths of fellow human beings.

      Sad and pathetic person….

I agree, this has nothing to do with this story. A story like this should be free from any other topics even ones that we agree with like promoting patriotism and such.

    As for OK3Wire:
“Indeed. Posts like this are exactly why I read the stories and have given up on reading any comments. The majority are inane and a few, like this one, are apparently from weirdos bent on some personal agenda and will take any opportunity to blather. I have better things to do than entertain insanity.
No wonder so many think that Tea Party supporters are idiots”

We all agree, you have better things to do than entertain insanity (the liberals‘ meaning of insanity is being insane while a patriot conservatve’s meaning is “We are fighting for our freedom and since liberals are so against freedom they think that it is insane) And if fighting for freedom is being an idiot then we are willing to be idiots, of course England thought that we were idiots too for fighting for our freedom. Anyways back to the subject. Yes you DO have better things to do so go do them! We can all promise you that you will NOT be missed!

This is indeed very sad, such a random and meaningless loss of life. But that’s the way it often goes. I’m taken by the fact that, if this girl had been kept from flying on this flight AND the rest of her family wasn’t on it, you people (and, likely, she and her family) would be writing about how great and good God was to save her from death that day, since he likely ‘had a further mission for her.‘ If you survive but the rest of your family dies it’s a tragedy; if you survive and a plane-load of strangers die, it‘s somehow a ’miracle.’
    RIP Tuetenberg family.

May this family rest in peace and may the surviving daughter find the strength to turn this tragedy into a triumph by carrying on in their name.

    God bless.

These types of planes seem like they crash way too often. It’s usually the subsequent fire that kills the passengers. They need to do a better job of containing the fuel system in these planes in the event of a crash.

Maybe this family was much more spiritually ready to meet their Maker than Casey Anthony, who obviously needs much more time to repent.

I hope this young lady has strong faith in God and much support from remaining family and friends to get her through this. Losing ONE family member is difficult enough, so losing your entire family at once must be excruciatingly painful. God bless her and give her strength.

Quint…. I enjoyed reading your first comment and knew you were thinking you were in another section. What you had to say was worth reading. People strike out sometimes before thinking it through or (and/or) lash out when they are hurting. In short… you did nothing wrong. There are people who will say mean and cruel things behind the anonimity of a computer that, as a civilized, classy human being, they would never say in person. Of course our prayers are extended to this lovely family and their beautiful daughter left behind. It does make us stop and thank God for the good health of our own families – including a beautiful country that still belongs to Him. Thank you for both of your comments.

Well now that seems even worse. The poor girl has lost her whole family. Except what about her biological father? Is he still alive and does she have a relationship with him? Either way I pray that she has grandparents and aunts&uncles she can rely on.
