Update: Man Who Pounded on Cockpit Door Identified, Also Had Calif. ID

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Federal investigators say a man with a Yemeni passport who pounded on the cockpit door of an American Airlines flight as it approached San Francisco also had California identification.
Federal Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Julie Sohn said Monday that 28-year-old Rageh Almurisi (rah-GAY al-moor-EE see) was from Vallejo, Calif., a city about 30 miles northeast of San Francisco.
Federal investigators are probing his background.
Authorities say they have not established why Almurisi got up from his seat and went toward the cockpit door 10 minutes before the flight from Chicago was supposed to land at San Francisco International Airport.
San Francisco police Sgt. Michael Rodriguez says Almurisi has no clear or known ties to terrorism.
Rodriguez said a male flight attendant tackled Almurisi as he banged on the door. Other crew members and passengers, including a retired Secret Service agent and a retired San Mateo police officer, helped subdue him.

Let ALL gun loving liscensed American males/females carry their pocket pistols for which I happen to have a permit to conceal my weapon, but in this case – DO NOT conceal, strap it on the side just like the cowboys. Then let ALL muslims who want to try this deed go for it. Sounds crazy, but if you have a half dozen red blooded Americans on every flight that is locked and loaded I guarantee airplanes would be safe from this threat. If this had been in place, the success of 9/11 would be on the American side of history.

It’s not racist, it’s protecting the passengers. He had no way of knowing if these two imams would have done the same thing.
