Update: Memphis Muslims Haven’t Decided About Lawsuit in Delta Plane Incident

Our original posts on this story can be found here and here.

(CNN) — Two imams heading to a conference on prejudice against Muslims said they were forced off their North Carolina-bound flight to undergo an additional security check — only to have the pilot take off without them, even after they were cleared.

Atlantic Southeast Airlines said in a statement that it was investigating the incident, which took place Friday night aboard a flight out of Memphis, Tennessee.

Masudur Rahman and Mohamed Zaghloul, both imams in the Memphis area, were clad in Islamic attire when they were told to leave the aircraft as it was taxiing toward the runway. Their lawyer, Mo Idlibi, told CNN on Saturday that neither man had done anything out of the ordinary, nor were they praying or chanting.

Rahman, who is also a professor of Arabic at the University of Memphis, said he and his colleague cooperated throughout the process and thanked Transportation Security Administration agents and others for their kindness and courtesy. But he said, through intermediaries, that they had difficulty finding out why they were ever kicked off the plane.

The pilot was a Blaze reader. I‘m sure that’s the only missing fact to this story, and it’d certainly explain his knee-jerk reaction to something other than “white people on mah plane.”

The plane left the gate with all passengers and then returned to the gate. Something was said or done in the time the plane left the gate. No pilot would return to the gate without cause. Someone said something. It could have been a passenger, flight attendant, or perhaps TSA received info somewhere along the line and asked for the passengers to return.

Once the plane leaves the gate, the pilot is responsible for everything that happens on that plane. If he feels the safety or security of everyone on board is or could be compromised it is his duty to return and take care of the problem. No pilot wants to be put in the position this pilot was put in. The pilot made the right decision in protecting the safety of all the passengers.

They were heading to a conference on prejudice. Perhaps they were looking to cause a stir so they would have stories to tell at the conference.

They did it on purpose, too.

If you want to board a plane dressed in Muslim garb, you should have to say you renounce Hammas and that Israel has a right to exist first! If I have to get groped, that’s only fair.

We should all proclaim that if Delta fires this pilot, we’ll all quit flying Delta. Time for conservatives to do a little boycotting of their own. There is more of us than them after all!

“told to leave as the plane was taxiing towards the runway”
What did the crew do? Open the door and kick them out while it was moving? This story really makes little sense. I get the point of extra pat downs or screening. After all, they are Muslims and there is real concern for the safety of all passengers. Maybe they were delayed and their being left was just an oversight?

“In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” I agree. I also find myself in line with Allen West who said, “When tolerance becomes a one-way street, it leads to cultural suicide.” Anyone who doubts the validity of that statement need only observe what is happening in America, where so many people subscribe to the insanity of multiculturalism that few of us are willing to speak the truth about Islam, about school-bus bombing Palestinians or about the dumber than dumb malefactors who comprise the Black Congressional Caucus.

It is the same sort of cowardice that allows special interest groups to demand that ballots be printed in about a hundred different languages here in California, that allows illegal aliens to collect welfare benefits and health care by the simple process of sneaking across our border, and encourages school textbooks to promote the Koran while Mohammed’s most fervent followers are murdering Christians and Jews every chance they get.

Speaking of the Koran, there’s no getting around the fact that Rev. Terry Jones is a damn fool, but that has little or nothing to do with his burning the only book that most Islamics have ever read. It’s simply a provable fact. Still, he had every right under the 1st Amendment to burn just about anything he chose to, including our flag. To suggest that he is the reason that the brutes in Afghanistan killed and beheaded people is to be as brain-dead as Mr. Jones. Islamics ra

I have not heard of any white people being members of the Congressional Black Caucus or getting tuition money from the United ***** College Fund.

People do have the right to “discriminate” as to association. Who we choose to associate with has always been part of the human experience. I choose for instance not to associate with my own brothers as we have taken different paths as to morals and goals in life. I still love them but no longer seek out their companionship.

You might not like pastor Jones,BUT he did uncover their true being. He showed us that if we disagree with them they will react violently. If other passengers were afraid to be on same plane, isn’t this enough justification? When these Americanized Muslims start denouncing the radicals, perhaps they will no longer frighten us. I was in a hotel in Dallas last year and looking out the window one evening, I saw a number of men dressed in gowns getting into cars, it really scared me being in the same hotel remembering how the KKK looked in their sheets to go do harm to others. So, I could understand not wanting to be on same plane with them knowing it was their Islamic brothers who blew up WTC, a ship, an embassy, etc. and they refuse to condemn these actions. Not condemning means they approve, so, they are asking for this type action to those of us who remember the terror of 9/11.

With the piolet I do agree, he is the captain of the plane and should have the final go or no go for the flight; if he feels conditions are too unstable or dangerous with some of the passangers, then he will bear the responsibility for the call – right or wrong, yet he is the one to make it.

The story here is pretty obvious. These guys went through the TSA check twice, probably got groped the second time around if not both times.

Most people here think that to subject an American citizen to the TSA procedure once is a violation of privacy, but the guys went through it twice.

My first point is that no one here is complaining about these two Americans be subjected to TSA procedures. Not in this case. Why? Because they were Arab-Americans right? So they are more likely, you think, to be terrorists. Of course that’s nonsense because every single other Islamic terrorist that has boarded an airplane tried to not stand out and did not wear traditional Arab garb.

Okay, so the TSA checked them out twice, the second time more rigorously than the first you have to believe. No bombs, no knives, no nothing. Still the pilot refuses to fly with them on board. There is no safety concern. The pilot’s only issue is that these Americans have an Arab heritage. He has refused to fly if there is anyone with Arab clothes on his plane, even if they have been checked twice are no hazard to the flight. Southwest has a problem with this guy.

Okay, support the pilot if you want. But he’s got a problem, and Southwest is busy trying to find other work for him. My prediction: he may not be fired, but he ended his career as a pilot.

And it should be. Southwest is a capitalist organization, and they can’t afford to have their operations disrupted by a big

GETALIFE, glad you asked. Here’s my opinion. As the lawyer in the audio said, they’re “keeping their options open.“ Your question ”why is there no lawsuit?” is an illuminating one. They don‘t want to sue the airlines because they’re not trying to get money (which seems to be your first thought). They’re waiting, as the video said, to see what actions the airlines take.

I’d be very surprised if the pilot keeps his job. Maybe you’ve forgotten, but this is a Capitalist country. An airline can‘t tolerate flight disruptions because a pilot doesn’t like certain kinds of Americans, Americans who cleared security twice. In any case, if the airlines doesn’t take any action against the pilot, I imagine they will be sued.

Barbarian, as far as you “bloody idiot” comment, I have to say your facts are wrong. TSA cleared them twice (as they guy said, they checked “their luggage, their bodies, everything.” And besides, what’s with the “bloody” adjective? That’s an expression they use in England, not the US. You‘re a foreigner aren’t you? Go back to England where you belong, you socialist.
