The Tea Party organization that was told it could not celebrate Constitution Day in an Ohio town square will now be able to, thanks to a judge who has ruled in the groups favor.
According to CNSNews.com:
A district court judge in Northern Ohio ruled late Wednesday that Tea Party activists will be able to celebrate Constitution Day on Sept. 17 with a rally in tiny Andover Township, Ohio, despite the fact that the township initially tried to block the event because it was too political.
As CNSNews.com previously reported, the trustees of Andover Township denied the Andover Tea Party chapter use of the public square at the center of town based on the group’s “political affiliation.”
The group wanted to use the square for a rally with patriotic singers to commemorate Sept. 17, 1787, the day the U.S. Constitution was implemented.
But on Aug. 25, the trustees sent a letter saying: “Due to your group’s political affiliation, in our opinion as a case by case option we are denying your request to use Andover Township Park.”

Report Post »The name of this judge and others that have had the guts to stand up and make the right decision should be posted on-line and remembered by the voters as champions of the constitution.

Posted on September 18, 2010 at 12:26pmWish were the Judge.
I would have issued a Bench Warrant for all of the Trustees on a Contempt of Court citation, and had them brought before the bench to read aloud the various sections of the US Constitution and Ohio Constitution pertaining to Restrictions on Government and Rights of Citizens.

Posted on September 18, 2010 at 11:47amA thought…I am very proud of all the great men fought and died for this country which truely is “The last great experiment”. I am thankfull everyday that these men were so against tyrranny, that they pledged everything they had, everything they were, and even thier lives to give their family and future generations this “land of the free” that we live in.
Report Post »I am also ashamed and sickened by what we let happen to it. Really, just think, we have let people of the same ideology as the men who killed 3000 of our countrymen on 9/11, erect a “victory mosque” on that sight. Anyone that sais otherwise (2+2=4). We have let our leaders pass huge bills that they do not even bother to look into. We have let our innocent countrymen die because we refuse to require people to immigrate hear legally, when we could have very easily saved them.
I am also very thankfull that I became a member of a movement “tea party patriots” that WILL get us back to “the land of the free”.
To me, it does not matter if I agree with tea party candidates 100%, because our most basic beliefs are the same, After Karl Rove blow up over O’donnell, I do know that I can not trust this to any political party, I have to pledge to support ANY candidate that believes in the CONSTITUTION!!!, and that the role of our Federal government is a SMALL one.
Another note, I completed my sample ballot today (for southern Ohio) to take with me into the voting booth. My totals are 8 tea party members (includes 2 republicans, 5 constitutionalist,1 libertarian), 1 republican, and 1 Democrat (good man for the school board).

Posted on September 18, 2010 at 12:20amWell I guess I was not to terribly surprised with the refusal by the town council. Having been raised in Cincinnati, stupid politicians are not uncommon. Look at Jerry Springer.
Report Post »I sincerely admire the judge with the courage to stand up for the rights of the people.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 11:46pm“Due to your group’s political affiliation…” you get denied. Are you kidding me? You are granted or denied permission to hold a peaceful demonstration, dare I say celebration, based on your politics?
What‘s that noise I think I’m going to hear soon? I do believe it’s the sound of some trustees of Andover Township getting tossed out on their butts.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 11:13pmWhy didn’t they say which political affiliation they consider the Constitution. It would be helpful to know that, at least I would know who to vote for. I happen to believe that the Constitution is a valuable document in this countries success.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 9:34pmHooray for the “right” side. Smart Judge.
It ought to be required for every one in public service to at least READ the constitution! Maybe things wouldn’t be in such a PC mess as they are now!

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 2:08pmIts sad that we’ve come to a point where we are waiting for Progressives to allow us to do anything .They have weaseled their way into positions on power in local ,state & federal governments not only as elected officials but as the bureaucracy ( to create and implement laws that sap our Liberty). They are thick in our judicial system as judges & a hoard of lawyers ( to confuse and strike down the will of the people) .They control our school systems and colleges ( ensuring plenty of brain washed in the coming generation ).They control hollywood (to twist perceptions and distract while we’re entertained)They control the“mainstream media”(to lie ,distort and promote their ideology).Thank GOD that we are waking up,Thank You FOX News,Thank You Talk Radio and Thanks You internet .They are exposed and we are AWARE .We can’t stop after NOVEMBER 2010

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 12:48pmI would love for all of the USA Political leaders to have to take a pop quiz on our Constitution, or not even a pop quiz but a test were they can study for a week. If they fail, they cannot run for re-election.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 1:42pmI agree! If they can’t pass the test they can not become elected officials or be appointed judges. If foreigners have to study our constitution to become citizens of our country, shouldn’t we expect at least the same from the people running our country.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 12:46pmActually the town is nor really “letting” them use the “public” park, they were forced to by a judge! And that by itself is really amazing. Most judges ruling today, think they wrote the Constitution, and can make up whatever they want from the rather clear language. After all a judge is far more able to decipher legalese then a commoner.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 1:06pmDon’t dog on this judge too much. We need to encourage and build up those who are brave enough to their job and defend the constitution despite the EMENSE pressure not to. I applaud this judge and say IT IS ABOUT DAMN TIME!

Posted on September 18, 2010 at 11:56amIt don’t work. The late Sen from WVA, Robert Byrd, carried one around all the time. It didn’t prevent him from belonging to the KKK or for voting for every government power grab that came down the pike.

Posted on September 18, 2010 at 3:02pmThey wouldn’t know what to do with it. All those libs seem to think it’s a “living” document that should change over time and is now antiquated and out of date. What a shame for our country. We need to take it back!

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 12:31pmWow this is a surprise. I thought for sure the liberals would ignore the Constitution yet again and not allow them to hold this celebration. Maybe they got one of the few judges who actually cares about the law anymore to hear the case.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 12:31pmGee I guess we are supposed to be “grateful” that they will “LET” them. Perhaps the “government” should attend — perhaps they should READ the Constitution!

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 12:42pmSpot on CATB. “THANKS” to the judge for allowing us to exercise our RIGHTS given to us by God and reiterated in the very document we are celebrating. Thanks for nothing.
