As we told you earlier this week, parents were a little surprised to hear that the new season of ‘Sesame Street’ involved a provocative segment featuring singer Katy Perry doing a “cleaned-up“ version of her hit ”Hot N Cold” with an entranced Elmo.
TMZ confirms what happened next:
The song made its way to YouTube
Monday and racked up nearly a million views. But some parents started complaining her cleavage was too front and center. We’ve learned producers have decided not to air the song on the show.
Again I ask: WWMRD? I miss Mr. Rogers.
They talked about this on the ‘Today’ show this morning:

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 1:37pmI have alerted the FCC on this matter. Let me be clear, and make no mistake, such shameless exposure of the female form on public television will not be tollerated. After all, the US is a Sharia compliant nation. Thank you.

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 1:35pmIt always bothered me when kid shows had celebrities on. The kids don’t know who they are, but the parents do and the celebrities aren’t always good role models for children so the producers of the show are creating and unnecessary controversy. Leave the celebrity cameos out. I stopped watching Sesame Street with my kids years ago. With dvd’s and Tivo, my kids don’t really even have a concept of live television and they rarely see commercials. It’s really not that hard to keep the smut out.
The Muppet Show was for adults so the Miss Piggy comparison doesn’t really fly.

Children love the muppet show. You will be challenged to explain why toy stores are loaded up muppets, especially Miss Piggy who is a favorite of children.
Miss Piggy is a national symbol. Her character is often used to promote public service announcements (PSA), especially messages aimed at children.
During a National Wildlife Federation PSA on energy conservation, Miss Piggy, clearly a D-cup gal, flips off the lights, grabs Kermit and takes to laying sloppy kisses upon Kermit. This happens twice during this PSA. As you know, Miss Piggy and Kermit are not married. You also know Miss Piggy has been after Kermit for years both romantically and sexually.
I will again submit uptight Christians are after the wrong person. Instead of going after Katy Perry, Christians should be after lusty Miss Piggy.
This is wrongful for children to giggle and laugh over those inappropriate antics of Miss Piggy.

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 11:02pmSorry, but kids loved the “Muppet Show” too. Thats why there was spinoffs like “Muppet Babies” and “Fraggle Rock” as Saturday morning toons. But, anyway, as far as this being a new problem… didn’t anyone see the dress that Raquel Welch wore on the “Muppet Show” and that was 30 years ago!

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 1:29pmI don‘t think you would want your child’s teacher to dress like this and feel comfortable leaving them with this person to learn, so why is it okay to think this is appropriate for Sesame Street on PBS? Answer: It isn’t okay and that is why it has been pulled. Just because it is on TV doesn’t make it right, or that it has been on TV before (eg. MTV). Since PBS is funded by the public, I think their opinion is the one that counts and so it has been cut. Now can we get to some real issues and quit wasting time with this “Madonna style” crap?

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 11:54amTo everyone complaining about her being invited on the show, Nathan Lane played a Drag Queen in Birdcage and Neil Patrick Harris played the MC in the modern version of Caberet, both not meant for young children, does that mean they shouldn’t have been on as well? Where is the line drawn?

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 11:33amWho in the heck are the producers of Sesame Street nowadays that would even allow her to walk into the building to sing to CHILDREN dressed like that? Sheesh. ARe they all 30 and under? I am convinced in the last 30 years morals have gone totally out the window. Katie should have known

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 10:44amCHOW is confused, “Huh? That makes no sense.”
A minority few are working at controlling the lives of the majority many. Although I do not know what type of people complained about this video, I am quite certain this would be Christian zealots.
Controlling the clothing of women, requiring women to cover up, this is “Taliban” thinking.
While we are responsible to set good role models for all regardless of their age. This removal of the Katy Perry video sends a message to children, “Girls’ breasts are sinful things.” This is, of course, continuing abhorrent masculine sexism which plagues our society. This is Taliban thinking.

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 10:43amWhy would they even have this woman on Sesame Street in the first place? I don’t care if she was wearing a turtle neck. Her videos are borderline pornographic along with her lyrics. Thank goodness they listened to the Moms and Grandmothers of America and pulled it. They’ve already captivated our teens, the heck if I’m going to hand over my kids and grandkids to them! Good call PBS, on this one at least.

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 10:58amMy presumption, CHOW and TLENKER, is you are blind to this buxom nature of Miss Piggy.
This is acceptable for Miss Piggy to bounce and jiggle her way across television screens on a daily basis, television screens watched by millions of children. This is not acceptable for Perry to dress like a typical American bride in keeping with her song although Perry does not bounce nor jiggle across television screens.
Christians are making a target of the wrong person; you should be after slutty Miss Piggy.

I actually like some light hearted stuff mixed in with all the serious political stuff, we do need to be aware of what’s going on with our country but sometimes we all need a break from it to smile and laugh, if we don’t then why are we here?

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 8:35amWhy would Sesame Street want to use anything by Katy Perry to start with?! Her songs are typically raunchy and not identifiable with little kids.
If it weren’t for the fact that she was about to spill out of that dress, it would have been kinda cute.
Report Post »Sinclare
Posted on September 23, 2010 at 8:49amI agree, she is that way. However, this isn’t anything new; from Cheer (sp?) to every other pop/rock singer that’s had a popular song, they have had them on with some modified “scooby doo” version of their songs. The real issue is that someone didn’t have the common sense to pull her to the side and say politely “Honey, you’re not on a Calif beach….perhaps something just a bit more modest.

I surmise that you won’t care whether I come to the party but maybe you ought to or you may end up eating all that left-over dip you made.

Let’s face it, standard Hanes underwear or body lotion commercials that play all the time are far worse. That being said, she should have used more common sense and covered those puppies up more.

Posted on September 24, 2010 at 11:50pmI agree. Go to the beach this weekend, you’ll see more skin than this.
People are making mountains out of molehills. Literally. I mean, honestly, it’s not like Katie Perry is Pamela Anderson, who used to wear a lot less on Baywatch.
I have more problems with Sesame Street being a liberal indoctronation tool than with this talentless singer’s attire.
