Update: University Refuses to Defund ‘Divisive,’ Pro-White Privilege ‘Unfair Campaign’

We’ve already reported extensively on the University of Minnesota-Duluth-sponsored initiative that rails against “white privilege.” The main thrust of the “Un-Fair Campaign,” which is illustrated through billboards, videos and lectures, is that society is setup to benefit Caucasians. But now, in the wake of the controversy surrounding the campaign, the university isn’t backing down from funding the project.

University of Minnesota Duluth Refuses to Defund Unfair Campaign

As reported, at least one of the ads features white people who publicly express guilt for their alleged preferential treatment as a result of their skin color. A slogan for the initiative prominently reads, “It‘s hard to see racism when you’re white.”

University of Minnesota Duluth Refuses to Defund Unfair Campaign

While the University of Minnesota has admitted that the campaign is “divisive” and that it has “alienated some people,” it plans to continue ”fully support[ing] the foundations and principles of the Un-Fair Campaign.”

(Related: ‘Not Fair to Be White’: See the Unbelievable New Campaign Sponsored by the University of Minnesota-Duluth)

Campus Reform, the organization that originally broke the story, has more about the university’s response to the incident and the subsequent fall out:

The university declined comment for three days but after becoming the subject of international news coverage and receiving hundreds of “calls and e-mails expressing concern about UMD’s participation in the Un-Fair Campaign,” officials released a statement acknowledging they were in part behind the offensive video. [...]

The campaign’s official mission is to “raise awareness about white privilege in our community, provide resources for understanding and action, and facilitate dialogue and partnership that result in fundamental, systemic change towards racial justice.”

According to their official website, the University of Wisconsin – Superior is also a sponsor. A spokesperson for UWS declined comment at the time of publication.

Here’s the ad that set off the firestorm:

You can read more information about the “Unfair Campaign” in our original report. At this point, it seems the school, despite admitting that the initiative is offensive, isn’t prepared to back down.

I see racism every time I see Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan on TV spouting the hatred against everyone that tries to live in this country. This trio of race baiters never tries to fix problems they are the gasoline to the problem…when they show up the situation goes from bad to worse. Now tell me that only white people are racists…

Jesse Jackson Jr. has been on a leave of absence for the last 2 weeks from his congressional duties. It appears the feds are getting close. His marriage is supposedly on the rocks after his affair with a blonde swimsuit model.

Apple did not fall far from the tree. Apparently Jesse Jackson did not teach his son well. Or maybe he did.

The most interesting thing about the lawsuit against Jackson Sr. was that he might have had a some Sandusky action in high school. Look how he turned out.

Thats the funniest thing about this entire “campaign”…EVEN IF there is some sort of understood “white privilege” (which the government has made sure for decades to try and “fix” by forcing minoirty privilege on us ie. affirmative action, welfare, lowering education standards so they can “keep up”, ect), why do you think that is? Is it, perhaps, a result of minorities (especially blacks) being lazy, VIOLENT (if you look at violence IN THE WORKPLACE, blacks are 4 times as likely…and I’m betting its actually much higher than that, we know how much the government likes to change stats to avoid talking about black violence), under educated, and generally lacking in social skills (this goes from the talking of ebonics to the baggy pants)…

when it comes down to EVERY aspect of life, you most likely have someone in an position of authority that helps shape what new opportunities you get based on the current impression they have of you. If you dress well and speak well, show respect to those that deserve it and “do the right thing” (sorry spike, had to take it from you) you will most likely move on to the next best opportunity, and so on. So yes, if you raise you kid to be a disrespectful thug that doesn’t speak proper english or wear his clothes like a normal person, they will be judged their entire life…if that’s “white privilege” I’m sure glad my parents instilled it in me!

Just leave and give a black person your studen loans and classes. Give up those $5K laptops, iPhones and subscriptions to a black person…go ahead….what’s that? That’s unfair”? LOL.

POPP40, think about the comment you made, for you make a very strong argument and you may not have realized it.

A white person….”walking down the streets of an all black neighborhood and then they would be able to clearly see it.”

The premise can be considered from a different perspective. It is not whether the person is white who is walking through the neighborhood because he is a token white person in an all black neighborhood.

The main premise should be that the white person should feel any concern for his/her safety in walking through the neighborhood.

The first premise is based on the person who is walking’s color. The second is the premise that it is a black neighborhood.

When the media reports crimes in black neighborhoods, when the FBI and other law enforcement agencies report statistics for crime rates of predominately black neighborhoods, any person, regardless of color, would fee unsafe to walk through a black neighborhood. And this conclusion would be reached by anyone who reads the statistics and who listens/reads media.

This is what is so damaging about this campaign. It is aimed to make the white community guilty over the actions/inactions of the black community.

And again I ask, when will the black community take any responsibility for what is happening in their own community?

I agree with you Ma’am, but those $300 sneakers were more likely stolen than paid for. I too am white, and I carry ZERO guilt for it. No one seems to talk about opportunities, which we all have. It is those opportunities that, if taken advantage of, will propel you to a better life. Personal choices, not victimization, are always the answer. If you were born into a garbage existence, work to get yourself out of it. There are ways, but too many people choose to live on the taxpayer’s money and that is just wrong. Able bodied people need work to stay able bodied, and HAVE a life. Anyway, no…I have no guilt for being white. I take pride in who I am, not what my race happens to be. The creators of this sham are fools who seem to enjoy stirring the race-pot ’round and ’round until they get what they want…..division of the races.

The days for the racist message has long pasted by. After years & years of affirmative action, and special interest give-a-ways, what have they gained? For one, the special interest folks got it all, deserving or not, while the mainstream people who had good grades and ability got squat-****. I‘d say if you didn’t have high cheek bones, you got no special interest goodies.
The ability to lie and threaten racism seems to be the only way to get ahead of other deserving people who might have made it on their own merits, but NO! Not here.

We have and keep giving away, hoping eventually they will stand on their own two feet.
The problem is, all those we keep giving to only want more and never try on their own to get ahead in life. We, out of generosity, have given & given and receive nothing in return except to be called racists.. Sorry, I don’t feel guilty, nor am I a racist. Just that simple.

When you were an embryo you said ” I don’t care what color my parents are, I am going to be white whether they approve of it or not!” and you took all the necessary classes and did all the training it took, and on the day you were born the ob-gyn had a certificate saying this child is white with blond hair and blue eyes. You did it, all by yourself. It wasn’t by chance, It was by choice. You worked hard to be white so be proud of it. Who dares to say that it is a person’s individual choices that makes them a bad person. Those idiots. People are definitely only bad because of they’re race. Clearly only minorities commit crimes.

When you read about this subject, I can’t help but notice slavery goes all the way back in time. Didn’t the Jewish people become slaves of Egypt? People were slaves or indentured throughout the ages in Europe.
As I’ve understood it, the Dutch were the slave runners and sold them all over the world. The Africans were caught and kept in a holding area by their own people who sold them to the Dutch. Seems like their own should have some responsibility, but that was then and this is now. Whatever happened several hundred years ago, we who are living today, are NOT RESPONSIBLE for what others did to a group of people sold by their own people.

I simply don’t understand why WE are continually blamed for their fate, created by their own people. Just doesn’t make sense. Go get redemption from your homeland (they sold your ancestors) or try becoming a part of America and drop the African American nonsense.

He was the type man who refused to take money to quit growing certain crops, because he thought the idea of paying a man not to grow something was sinful. That’s the type man he was and even as a young child, I remember the respect the blacks showed toward my grandfather many years later.
He lived on a dirt road and I still hear the beautiful singing from a black church one evening while we were driving home…….he pulled over and we listened for a while. Wonderful memories. No, didn’t know what racism was until they started calling us that ugly name. I refute it.
