Update: West Responds to Tea Party ‘Schizophrenia’ Over His Boehner Support

Earlier today, The Blaze reported on Rep. Allen West‘s defense of his support for Boehner’s controversial debt plan. West is striking back against Tea Party critics who are less than pleased with his allegiances. In addition to appearing on Fox News to defend his stance, West spoke with radio talk show host Laura Ingraham. During the interview, he lamented the Tea Party’s “schizophrenia” and reaffirmed his take on the speaker’s plan. He said:
“…one minute they’re saying I’m their tea party hero, and, what, three, four days later I’m a tea party defector, you know, that kind of schizophrenia I’m not going to get involved in.”
Despite vocally supporting the Boehner plan, West did clarify that he does not support every aspect of the proposal. That said, there’s enough palatable content in it for him to be swayed on the side of advocating for it:
“We have to continue to put the pressure on. We have to continue to be on the initiative and have the initiative and offense. I do support the Boehner plan. It’s not 100 percent for me, but it is the 70 to 75 percent that I can take into the fight and I think it ensures we do the right thing by my constituents and the American people.”

Posted on July 29, 2011 at 2:57pmSant–no matter what Glenn says he is attacked. If he let loose on that kind of truth, they’d crucify him. Instead he does say enough to urge you to look into it yourself, that should be enough, don’t you think? As for West—he needs to refrain from using the words he used to describe the tea party, as he is buying into the establishment when he does so. I am fed up with politicians on the right FEEDING the labeling of every day Americans. All he had to say is that “I don’t support it 100%–here is where I disagree, and this is why I have chosen to go this direction”. But to scold anyone is ensuring he is out as fast as he came in. We don’t need that. I think he is extremely honorable, but he had better not let himself be co-opted by the establishment. This is the test for true men and women once they hit Congress—-the temptation is the lifetime benefits that will be there no matter HOW they behave. If they get past that and still do the honorable thing, they have my vote.

The propaganda would have you believe this is “crazy” talk..I believe it’s “crazy” not to side with the Tea Party..Why would you want the government to have more power than they have right now?..Why would you want the government to spend your hard earned dollars in a drunken sailor fashion?..The government has never done anything correctly..Why give them more..and more?..and chastize those that want to turn it around?..Of course unless you are a politician or someone making money off the tax paying public..But for the average joe out there, ya gotta side with those that want to get government out of the way..Socialism is not right for this country..No matter what the flower children of the sixties scream in your face about their version of utopia..It didn‘t happen in the 60’s and that was with all the drugs.and it‘s ain’t going to happen now…A free market America is Utopia for most of the globe..Other than comunists and Radical Islam..I kinda like the real America..Let’s get back to the things that made this country work..The flower children almost had their hooks in..But the Tea Party is awake and making sure we don’t fall back into a coma that the silent majority has lapsed into for decades..

Dr. Paul has gone over this ad nauseam, you must be willfully ignorant. EVERY CENT of a spending bill should be earmarked, if the money is NOT earmarked you are giving the executive (in this case Barry) a blank check. Dr. Paul does not want these spending bills to begin with, and he votes accordingly, but if one is proposed, he will try to get every cent back to his constituents possible, akin to filling for every possible tax deduction you can.
How can you not understand this?

Either the two of you have misconstrued Ron Paul’s statement concerning earmarks or are willfully ignorant of it. Ron had to vote for the earmarks so that the already-spent money went back to his district in Texas in case the spending bills that he voted against passed. Had he said no to any of those earmarks, all of that money (which is spent ALREADY) would have been left in discretion of the President (in this case, Barack Obama/Barry Soetoro).

Posted on July 29, 2011 at 1:22pmCompletely agree Steve. We Conservatives pretty much all agree on the strategic objectives. Slash spending, reduce size of government, etc. Sadly, the strategic objectives can be met only with tactical operations…this is a war of ideals. Tacticly, we need to take our mini-victory with sending yet another bill to Harry to table…a strategic win is not possible in the current positioning of both parties troops. Take the small tactical win as it lays the groundwork for the next tactical win, i.e., regaining control of all three relevant thearters of action….Once that is achieved, the strategic victory is within reach. I love all TPers to death, but I am thankful that we (granted we are mostly novices at governmental warfare) are not in charge of running any combat ops…

Posted on July 29, 2011 at 1:57pmI would also agree with Allen West..This guy will not be moved for anything but the right deal..and stands his ground on principle 100% of the time…So if he believes that to get this done and it looks good enough to keep America from having considerable financial trouble in the next year, then I am with him..
He knows that if they don’t get a deal done, interest rates will rise and affect a whole lotta things here in the future..There is still a year before elections and Obama would just as well let the US fall off the edge of a cliff and impose his socialism tactics to get as many folks on the dole as possible..Unemployment insurance..Welfare..Minorities..Government workers…All will be voting democrat out of fear if the country slides further..Or that‘s the way the Dem’s see it….So to get a deal done and remain somewhat solvent is probably the best strategy for the near term..Besides, whatever the Republicans come up with might be slammed by the Dem’s and then Reid has to show up with some liberal bill that will make us all sick to our stomachs..So either way the future is in doubt..The GOP MUST continue to work for the American people or the propaganda machine will win out on every lie they can muster..That’s what they do..The GOP must win out in 2012 and the entire blame for this needs to be on the President ..The end..

Posted on July 29, 2011 at 2:36pmI have been praying Allen West enters the Presidential race — he is our best chance for getting this country back in line.
That being said, I believe he is jumping to conclusions when he calls nay-sayers “schizophrenic.“ We have seen too many cases of ”compromise” that were shown — only days later — to be lies. We have no trust that a tax cut promised will be a tax cut delivered.
What we want from you, Colonel West, is the understanding that no matter what the Conservative arm of the House proposes, it will be shot down. The Tea Party has been and will be blamed no matter what is put forth.
FAR better to stick to the 100% plan and see it go down in flames than to be a party to the “75%” plan that turns out to be a mockery once the dust settles. You know as a military leader — and I know as a grandma — once you give in the first time, you will be expected to give in time and time again.

Posted on July 29, 2011 at 7:02pmAny spending is funded by a tax, even deficit, a future tax. Spending=Taxes.
Taxed Enough Already. Pretty simple principle.
TEA=No additional Spending.
The plans proposed all are based on 7% spending growth. The plan cuts 7% to say 5% or 4% spending GROWTH.
More spending=More taxes (deficit)
If we froze spending, zero projected spending growth, and cut 1% a year spending from 2011 level, we would have the debt paid in 6 years.
The Republicans are compromising to continue MORE spending and debt, just not as much. Their proposed cuts are on projected growth spending, not cuts as in less spending. Why won’t they tell us this?
The TEA party plan I would say would look like Connie Mack’s as endorsed by Rand Paul. No debt and balanced in 6 years.
As for Allen West. I would of thought he would have stood on principle much firmer. The principle of spending our country into collapse is wrong and we must stop spending. He can call names and insult. It just inflicts self disservice.

So I understand why the Tea Party People are questioning who he is. Talk about your schizo maybe he needs to look at his own behavior. I never expected much to be done right now because we only have the House. I don‘t think it was a wise idea to have the Tea Party candidates to sign a pledge that they wouldn’t vote for anything to raise the debt limit. Even though that is what is needed & we want, right now we’re going to get what we have right now and are in transition. Must focus on 2012 & get the truth out about this all being the Obama Admin. fault & then not passing the Cut, Cap & Balance bill which would have fixed it.

Posted on July 29, 2011 at 1:14pmThe fight for the heart and soul of the Republican party is one we must do. Otherwise the GOP will be a mirror image of the Progressive Democrats. Just look at recent history.. before the Tea Party what did the do to oppose Obama’s socialist agenda? They did NOTHING. They rolled over like good lap dogs and let their new masters rub their bellies. Only AFTER the Tea Party movement did they find a little bit of a spine to fight back. But as you can see even now the old guard Republicans are eager to get back to having their bellies scratched again by their Progressive masters. Thank God for the Tea Party and the backbone they brought back to D.C. to fight the socialist agenda.
If the GOP is a lost cause then it is time to rise up as a third party and fight the good fight. The hell with belly scratching… it’s time to knock both the Progressive Democrats and Progressive Republicans heads together. Time to reestablish our nation as a Constructional Republic.

The country and the world is fragile and if we don’t start making cuts NOW, not pansy cuts that the leftists will hold in our face as “see, we compromised with you – lets move on!” but REAL CUTS.
Let the debt ceiling deadline come and go… in the meantime the House needs to pass a bill that actually matters.
Its now or never that we stand up to them, its not just “how things work in DC” anymore… isn’t that what WE THE TEA PARTY are supposed to stand for?? Not compromising on our values and turning this flaming ship around? 1.2 trillion in cuts over 10 years is a damn JOKE. Listen to yourselves… its ridiculous that you believe that is the answer. If that’s the case then I would RATHER DO NOTHING. Let a bill keep hitting the Senate and/or Obama in the face over and over again. If we cede to this bill and pass it, the leftists know that’s all we got… we won’t ever be able to take a more strong stand later. Mark my words.
