Update: Wis. Senate Democrats Have Completely Left the State

A Republican state senator from Wisconsin tells local TV station WTMJ state Senate Democrats have not only left the Capitol, but they have all boarded the same bus and left the state. And now those reports have been confirmed by at least one Senate Democrat.*
The news is significant because local and even state police do not have the jurisdiction to bring the lawmakers back to the chamber to vote:
That same GOP state senator, Alberta Darling, also said she sent most of her staff home because she’s worried about their safety amid the growing protester unrest at the Capitol.
The Democrats are trying to avoid voting on an emergency budget measure that would strip state workers’ unions of most collective bargaining rights
UPDATE:
A Democratic aide confirmed to the Associated Press that state Senate Democrats have left the state:
As ever-growing throngs of protesters filled the Capitol for a third day, the 14 Democrats disappeared from the Capitol. They were not in their offices, and aides said they did not know where any of them had gone.
Hours later, one of them told The Associated Press that the group had left Wisconsin.
UPDATE II:
One of the missing Democrats has told the AP that they have, in fact, left the state:
One member of the group told The Associated Press that they had all left Wisconsin in an effort to force Republicans to negotiate.
*UPDATE III:
Democratic State Sen. Jon Erpenbach confirmed to Newsradio 620 WTMJ that he and all of his Democratic colleagues boarded a bus and left the state.
“We’re not in Wisconsin right now,” Erpenbach said. “The reason why we‘re doing this is because there are some jurisdictional issues that we’d be dealing with.”

Posted on February 17, 2011 at 3:01pmNo, I don’t think so, the Blaze reported on the earler write-up on this that one Democrat HAD to be present to take a vote. Don’t they have legal responsibilities? Can they be kicked out for this? What if only Republicans were elected into office – how about that rule then? I still don’t get this. They gloated and ran rampant all over the Republicans for a long time – can’t take it when the majority goes the other way? I say impeach them all – get them out for dereliction of duty. If Reagan could fire the airport controllers why not fire these Obama Dems. They can’t even vote PRESENT!!!

Can someone enlighten us of what law if any they are breaking by not showing up? When elected are they bound to show up for votes? What happens if they deliberately dont show up, by law?
This is setting a very bad precedent for the nation, this will not be isolated event to just WI. I expect we will see this happen again in other states on fire. I f I had to bet Id say NJ not CA will be next only b/c Christie is really bringing the hammer down on corrupt activity there. IL, MI CA are definitely in contingency for being the next ones for something like this to happen.
We need to find out our states policies on no shows of legislators and how it effects crucial votes. Just one moe thing now for we the people to be watching. They keep hitting us from all sides as if trying to incite something or oohhh I dunno trying to collapse the system!

3) If evil attempts to do good, do you support it ? “United States of America does more good in the world than any other Nation” Republlicans…….Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one.

You ask is government evil, and then ask followup questions as if you had established that the answer was yes. Did you read the actual answer you wrote? “Government is force; like fire.” Is fire good or evil? No, it is a natural force that obeys the physical laws of the universe. Is it dangerous? Yes, but without it we’d be living in caves, eating raw rats and lizards.

Posted on February 17, 2011 at 5:33pmThis was very cowardly and despicable of them and they should face punishment if not impeachment then a recall election to give their constituents a chance to fire them. We did not see the Republicans in the House or Senate leave town to avoid a quorum when the Obama Heathcare fiasco vote took place. These democratic senators have absolutely no class.

Posted on February 17, 2011 at 7:02pmInfo reads that they felt they were “left no choice” so did this to deny the Republicans, in majority, a quorum which they require for the bill to pass. They want to work on this in a bi-partisan way, maybe left out of the decision-making process? Maybe their version of “party of no” ism?

Posted on February 18, 2011 at 12:52amCowards. Whiney, petulent children, the lot of them.
Report Post »When I was 3-4 years old and i was whiney and petulent, my mom would ask, “You want me to give you something to cry about??” And then I would either stop whining and just pout, whereas my mom would smack me, or I would keep it up, whereas my mom would whip my tail. Either way, my bs stopped. And I learned. Eventually I grew up, and because of her teaching (in part) I was fortunate enough to not only graduate from Parris Island South Carolina, but I then went on to be Honorably Discharged from the United States Marine Corps.
Maybe these so called “legislators’” moms shoulda taken them behind the woodshed a time or two when they were children.
Maybe then they would have learned that whiney petulence gets you nothing but a spanked ass.
