When we first brought you the story of Mason — the Alabama terrier mix that crawled home on two broken legs after being tossed about by a tornado — our inboxes were flooded with messages. Many of you wanted to know how he was doing, if he had survived surgery, and if he needed a home. Now, we have answers to all those questions.
First, from Wednesday, local station WBRC-TV reports on how the surgery went (hint: it involved two plates and 17 screws):
And today, the crew of “Fox and Friends” interviewed the veterinarian, who is happy to report that Mason‘s family will be taking him back once he’s fully recovered and once their house is back in order:

Posted on May 28, 2011 at 9:07amWHY would anyone film a dog crawling with OBVIOUS broken front legs??? Talk about CRUEL!!!
You drop the camera and PICK THE DOG UP! But a crawling in OBVIOUS pain gets more hits on the internet and on TV.
As for the family, why didn’t they take the dog? Of COURSE, they want the dog NOW. Get ready for ANOTHER ROUND of TV interview, etc.
I hope everyone enjoys their 15 minutes from the cruelty of this dog.
The only hero is the veterinarian assuming he is not the one that filmed the dog crawling with broken front legs.

Posted on May 28, 2011 at 8:22amSo nice to hear about little Mason…. does anyone remember that puppy that was beaten n thrown around inside the NY elevator? After the man that beat him was arrested for cruelty, the dog was taken to the shelter and no one wanted him. I’m pretty sure he was put to sleep. That made me real sad.

Posted on May 28, 2011 at 6:56amWhen I first saw the still pix on the Blaze main page I thought it was a picture of Donald Trump. On closer inspection, however, the dog is cuter. Don’t you just love a happy ending?

Posted on May 27, 2011 at 5:16pmThank you Blaze, I’ve been waiting for the great ending to this one! I hope he finds a great family, the other family didn’t want him I believe. Animals should be adopted for their lifetime. Don‘t get one if you don’t intend to keep it for its entire lifetime. Period.

Posted on May 27, 2011 at 3:43pmWe Conservatives do love our animals don’t we. I mean for a most of us they are truly a family member. We don’t keep one hanging around just long enough for a few photo ops or some feely good press write-ups now do we?

Posted on May 27, 2011 at 3:36pmI’m glad the wee lad will be alright now. I do worry about the little doggies so. I imagine that is why I have 8 of the little buggers that I rescued from various locales.

Posted on May 27, 2011 at 3:12pmWhere are all the fund raising marathons from the celebrities and other lefties who seem to gather together when somebody else in the world has a tragedy? It is heartbreaking to see or rather not see a massive effort by our government and charitable organizations to help the tornado victims. The USA has lost its way and it’s just sad. We will spend billions to help people who hate us and under assist our own when in really need.

Posted on May 27, 2011 at 2:24pmI saw the story this morning on Fox and Friends. It was very hard for me to watch the poor dog pre-surgery walk crawling on those broken front legs. He had to be in horrific pain. I’m glad he had the surgery and will be able to go home to his family.

Posted on May 27, 2011 at 1:53pmLike they say, GOD~~~DOG~~~~ Where they are is HEAVEN on earth and will someday be HOME to play eternally with our pets and the animals which will be safe with us once more (and, we with them).
Remember “Christian the Lion”?
HOORAY for the vet and staff!
GOD BLESS you all, Mason and his family.
Our GOD is a good GOD.

Posted on May 28, 2011 at 7:04amOh how I wish the story of the 3 year old boy could have ended so happily. But you are right, KAG, our God is still good, and that little boy is in the presence of the Lord with not a care in the world. In fact he may be wondering why we cling so furiously to life.
Play in peace, young man; the Lord may just find you a dog like Mason.

Posted on May 27, 2011 at 1:51pmThat is a painful and happy situation. My heart hurts for this poor, sweet little doggie. He probably wants his family more than anything. So happy to see that he is doing well though.

Posted on May 27, 2011 at 1:44pmWe see in this incredible animal, the kind of heart and courage we’d love to see approached by even one, Republican candiate. I think the House of Reps Republikan caucus should adopt this pooch as a mascot.
Being a dog of character, I would expect him to lift a leg on Boehner’s desk.

Posted on May 27, 2011 at 1:33pmIt’s like an even more epic version of Homeward Bound. I would like to think my Pit Bull Mix would do that if he didn’t seem to have ADD and get sidetracked so much.
