‘Uptown Girl’ Draws IRS Ire: Feds Say Christie Brinkley Owes $531K

Christie Brinkley Owes IRS $571K

(The Blaze/AP) Records show supermodel Christie Brinkley owes $531,000 in back taxes, and the IRS has filed a lien against her.

E! Online reports that per a filing with the Suffolk County Clerks Office in Suffolk County, New York, the Internal Revenue Service has taken out a tax lien on the 57-year-old beauty’s $30 million Bridgehampton, Long Island, estate to tune of $531,720.

A spokeswoman for Brinkley says the star was surprised to hear the lien had been filed.

Spokeswoman Claire Mercuri says: “Christie Brinkley … has instructed her team to resolve the matter immediately.”

Brinkley was once married to Billy Joel. She made her Broadway debut this year playing Roxie Hart in the musical “Chicago.”

The Daily Mail reports that in 2008, Brinkley’s financial holdings were worth an estimated $80 million, primarily as the owner of real estate, much of it in the Hamptons.

Come on people, you should suspect the IRS, not Christie Brinkley. She was married to Billy Joel, the short, obnoxious New Yorker – worst simger who ever lived. She had accellerated depreciation, to use an accounting term. She should be getting a refund.

Celebrities have a long history of tax evasion which is why I believe audits of all attorneys, politicians & celebrities should be mandatory every year… No exceptions, hence no surprises. These people typically have the resources to leave the country anytime they want & the IRS would be targeting the people who typically get caught not paying their taxes. The same goes for any government officials, bankers, stock brokers, stock traders, utility companies, unions, etc. etc. Anyone who might be good at hiding money or sending it overseas. That is what will solve some of the budget problems. The other side of this coin is unnecessary spending by the various government entities or anyone affiliated with the government or directly administrated or answerable to the government needs to stop. Including all of the above & anyone drawing prevailing wages. You talk about some outright scams. And then if we eliminate campaign spending & lobbying for legislation… We just might have the system back as it was intended in the first place. What a utopian dream.

I have a feeling that this is going to become the norm with this government. Our President has a history of stuff like this. If he doesn’t get his way through Congress, he goes around them, (Cap-and-Trade—back door theough the EPA) If he can’t get Congress to OBEY him, then he will use agency CZARS to do HIS WILL….. LONG LIVE THE KING!!!!!!! (heavy sarcasm!!!)

Aging beauty believes she can continue to live as she always has lived. Somewhere her judgement or the judgement of her financial advisors was very, very poor. She needs to get the IRS debt behind her ASAP even if she has to sell hard assets – cars, jewelry, homes, write a book about how unfair the IRS is; how hard life is as an aging beauty, etc. I sure as heck don’t want her on a shopping network hawking perfume. She needs to get real.

Just ask Wesley Snipes, who is currently in prison for not paying his taxes, but yet the likes of Timothy Geithner, the tax cheat who runs the IRS can get away without paying his taxes, and now here comes Warren Tax Me More” Buffet who after telling millions on TV he WANTS to pay more taxes, and it is only RIGHT for him to do so, is NOW suing the IRS to avoid $640 MILLION dollars in taxes on his fat cat jets. So taxes are only for the conservatives and Republicans and Tea Party members. Democrats do not have to pay taxes, just donate it to obama.

Another example of why the FairTax is so appealing to me.
The IRS can come at you with a bill and say ‘this little passage in our 70,000 page tax code says you owe us money’.
Pay it or go to jail.
You’re guilty and need to prove yourself innocent.
So you have to spend money on accountants and maybe a lawyer to get them of your back.
And then they pay taxes on what you pay them, on top of what you already may, or may not, have paid.
Yes sir, it’s the land of the free and home of the brave, except for the part where the government declares a pre-emptive claim on your earnings and the rest of your property.

Fair tax dot org-check it out.

Christie is in that ‘Donut hole’ of the IRS.

See, if you don’t make much money, forget to file or slip a number or two, they’ll come after you, track you down, whiplash your ass, take your first born, chain-lock your doors and put your picture in the post office. Then they’ll charge you interest and penalties large enough to add to the national debt clock.

On the other hand, if your name is Geithner, Paulson or you work for Goldman‘s Socks and you forget about reporting multiple millions that you made and have stashed away in the Cayman’s, you will drop easily thru the cracks and all you’ll hear from the IRS is–crickets.

In Christie’s case, she‘s in the donut hole in between the poor slob the IRS is after night and day and she’s not rich enough to get clean away. In the IRS donut hole, nobody says anything and you can skate merrily away with your Hollywood name, a great butt or big boobs until somebody drops a dime on you and then the IRS sends out their PR man to tell everybody how well they’re doing their job by filing a lien and telling the whole Internet about it.

Don’t worry, Christie, they’ll settle for a few, uh-hum, favors and about $137.48 to clear the whole thing up. That’s the way the Obamaworld works.

Most here sound like OWS whiners.

The IR Code is not a problem, as the 16th Amendment and thus the Code, gave the Congress no new power of taxation over people of the States.

Yet, Bachman is proud of her service as an IRS Lawyer.

Ms. Brinkley is mostly a holder of property in the Hamptons. Is it some kind of fact that the property there has risen in value while the rest of the nation has collapsed? And how does that become taxable under the misapplication of the tax code, as the thugs have done to us for decades, if she is still holding assets as she has not sold?

The majority of Posters here are just a form of petulent children towards the have nots of the streets of OWS, and then towards the Rich of the Hamptons.

You are coward Progressives who want what you want and are willing to derirde anyone who is doing or has something more than yourself. You are what Adam Carolla was talking about.

You neither believe in actual Justice, nor the Rule of law, because I severely doubtthat any of you have done your due dilligence to not be ‘ignorant of the law; by reading it, including 26 CFR 1.861-8T(d)(2)(ii0(A0 and (d)(2)(iii), and that the Reg is and was Law per Tax Court Ruling in Chevron v. Commissioner (1996).

Prof. Robert Nassau of Univ. of Syracuse was not able to explain those regulations, claimed he was an expert on the tax code regarding 861, and was admittedly not at all familiar with Chevron v. Commissioner, and still refused to read the case.

They want YOU to pay YOUR full and fair share. For themselves, they will find whatever they need to avoid giving up their cash. Sadly, most of the high dollar Liberals already know what they need to do. Hence they are free to “support” OWS, knowing in their hearts that it feels good and warms the cockles, yet their funds are safe from 50%+ tax rates.

Yea, it’s like they are against capitalism, but they use it to get to where they are. I’ve said it before, a conservative will climb the ladder of success, and then turn around and help other people up. A liberal will climb the ladder of success and then kick it out so no one else can get to where they are. You don’t hear too many poor liberals complaining about capitalism, because they haven’t gotten there. You hear them complaining about the glass ceiling, etc.

I agree fully. Consider how many of these pampered multi-million dollar income performers either owe back taxes or are filing for bankruptcy (remember Kim Bassinger?) to skip out on their debts? These progressive liberals can earn more in a couple of months than the rest of us earn in our lifetimes, yet they’re always dodging their taxes while blaming those of us making a tenth to a hundredth of their income that WE need to pay more. Don’t forget that Leanardo diCaprio pulled in over $70 million this year; another progressive liberal that wants our taxes raised.
