US Is Preparing to Invade Libya…Says Castro

HAVANA (AP) – Cuba’s former leader Fidel Castro said Tuesday that unrest in Libya may be a pretext for a NATO invasion. Nicaragua’s Daniel Ortega has jumped to the support of the embattled leader of the North African nation, saying he telephoned to express solidarity.

US Is Preparing to Invade Libya…Says Castro

Cuba's Fidel Castro

The protests sweeping across Libya have created challenges for the Latin American allies of Moammar Gadhafi.

Leftist governments in the Americas have long embraced him as a fellow fighter against U.S. influence in the world. Gadhafi has responded over the years by awarding the Moammar Gadhafi International Human Rights Prize to Castro and Ortega, as well as to Presidents Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, Evo Morales of Bolivia.

His relations with Chavez are so warm that rumors that he was headed to Venezuela swept the world on Monday. Gadhafi took to television late Monday to deny them.

Ortega said he had kept in communication with Gadhafi and expressed solidarity due to the “moments of tension” Libya is experiencing. State radio carried excerpts of his remarks on Tuesday.

“There is looting of businesses now, there is destruction. That is terrible,” Ortega said during a commemoration Monday of Nicaraguan hero Augusto Cesar Sandino. He said he told Gadhafi that “difficult moments put loyalty to the test.”

Ortega said he had also ordered Nicaragua’s security forces not to repress protesters, though he did not say Gadhafi had done so.

Protesters emboldened by the fall of pro-Western strongmen in Egypt and Tunisia have taken to the streets of Libya, where they were confronted by Libya’s security forces. Human rights groups say that more than 200 people have died and witnesses said bodies were left in the streets of Libya’s capital on Tuesday.

Gadhafi appeared on television vowing to fight on to his “last drop of blood” and roared at his supporters to go after opponents and “attack them in their lairs.”

European governments and U.S. leaders have denounced the crackdown, but Castro used a column published Tuesday by Cuban state news media to say it was too early to criticize Gadhafi.

“You can agree or not with Gadhafi,” Castro said. “The world has been invaded by all sorts of news … We have to wait the necessary time to know with rigor how much is fact or lie.”

But he did urge protests of something he says is planned: A U.S.-led invasion of the North African nation aimed at controlling its oil.

“The government of the United States is not concerned at all about peace in Libya and it will not hesitate to give NATO the order to invade that rich country, perhaps in a question of hours or very short days,” Castro wrote.

“An honest person will always be against any injustice committed against any people in the world,” Castro said. “And the worst of those at this instant would be to keep silent before the crime that NATO is preparing to commit against the Libyan people.”

Chavez himself has said nothing publicly about the disturbances in Libya, though his Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro issued a statement on Monday saying he had spoken with his Libyan counterpart by telephone to express hopes Libya can find “a peaceful solution to its difficulties … without the intervention of imperialism, whose interests in the region have been affected in recent times.”

Morales also has said nothing.

Once again here we have an upstanding human being where his own countrymen just adore his leadership so much so that they would never think to defect to other countries!–NOT! Now he is speaking out for the world to hear that we don’t care about the Libyan people but rather their oil? Game over Castro. Your word game loses because it is the American people that do care for the Libyan people, Barry Soetoro may see it another way though in order for your ‘little word game’ to work, to deceive the world once again that we are the enemy. We are not the enemy–YOU ARE castro!

“An honest person will always be against any injustice committed against any people in the world,” castro said.

Where were you castro all those years the Libyan people were oppressed, used/abused and injustices committed against them? Oh yeah, that’s right….what was it you said, “An HONEST person will always be against any injustice committed against any people…”–hmmmmm!

Liar, liar, pants on fire castro!

Obama should have called his dogs off in Egypt and denounced the violence there from the outset which would have avoided all this bloodshed. Of couse, that would have defeated his own insidious and diabolical agenda, wouldn’t it?

Now that the dirty deed of overthrowing an ally, Egypt, with the help of those naive Google executives and our own State Department is a reality, the snowball will keep rolling down the hill and these dictatorships will topple one by one by the people who have been oppressed for a very long time. Of course, the people will not get what they want. They never do. When one dictatorship falls it will just be replaced by another even more brutal and repressive one. In this case the Muslim Brotherhood will just gain more traction in the whole Middle East and soon their heavy hand will come down, and the people will once again be ruled by the brutal fist of Sharia where noone is safe.

Having said that, Fidel Castro and Daniel Ortego should shut the heck up. They‘re in the same contemptible category as Libyan despot Qaddafi and they’ll be next. Of course, all these brutal dictators never learn because they’re only interested in their own power. Their power over the people.

We are now reaping the rewards of a hollow puppet of the Radical Left who has had no leadership experience and who’s sole rise to power was “community organizing” and the help of the corrupt Chicago machine. He’s doing what he knows best. Instigating discontent and creating causing chaos and bloodshed for his own destructive ends.

And he’ll continue to do it in America if we let him. The Radical Left has become emboldened by this community organizing POTUS who resides in the White House and has no idea of the ramifications of what he’s doing. Or he does, and he doesn’t give a darn as long as he gets his way of “fundamentally transforming” America into a 3rd world country with the help of the maniacal George Soros who has absolutely no allegiance to America or to anything except his own contemptible agenda of collapsing the American Middle Class and the American dollar so he can go on to the bigger and better things of creating a world governance where noone will be accountable for anything. Just like in the corrupt UN.

I’m just wondering when the government media will catch on and understand that nothing good can happen out of all of this. Of course, I’m not holding my breath. They’re the “useful idiots” and they‘re the last to undertand that they’re working toward their own destruction.

    And ours.

I don‘t think it’s a far-fetched fantasy. Everyone here knows that our Govenment acts to destabilize any nation where we may have an active agenda. And what better agenda that to surround Egypt? Iseral on the East. Libya on the West. What-you can’t believe it? JUST because Castro says it? I’ll bet that they have their own intelligence sources that give as good information than our own CIA director who gets his intel from TV. FROM TV! I would give US involvementin the destabilization of Libya slightly about a 75% chance of being true. And what’s wrong with that? We need the oil, don’t we?

      @Cheezwhiz and Revenant

We do as a nation get blamed for just about every evil of the world, enviormental catastrophy and the like from without and within the land; and especially with this administration.

What would Castro get out of these accusations; other than his general insanity he may suffer from as a life long communist dictator, there seems to be nothing.

Yet in the communist and socialist world, substance is made reality by the preceptions they are able to spin for others to accept. Such as with the Cuban missile crisis, where the Soviet premier said the USSR was making missiles like a sausage factory.

Many times the West underestimated or overestimated things in the communist world, for we deal in absolutes, they deal in matters of perception.

One way of thinking of it is a giant game of blind mans bluff; what would castro gain by making such an outrageous statement, to us in America it is laughable; to the middle east, it is perceivable that such could happen.

According to most of you guys, EVERYTHING that is wrong with this – and other countries – is this President’s doing. Name me ONE person – Democrat or Republican – who would be stupid enough to invade another country – just because he felt like it. We had one war (Iraq) which was a war of choice and lost 4 plus thousand of our finest. We have well over 30 thousand of those same troops who came home disfigured in mind and body. And we have hundreds who have committed suicide after their return home because they couldn’t get the horror out of their heads. AND it has been a big part of putting this country into the financial mess it is in. Nation building overseas and a $1Billion embassy – of which less than one-third will be used. NONE OF IT WAS PAID FOR!!!

Are you REALLY suggesting that conscription should be returned to law? How many of you would be willing to go fight in that war – because this country surely doesn’t have the money – or the troops to commit to another war.

By the way, just for your information the Military War Machine is doing very nicely thanks, making lots of money for the bosses while we don’t have the money to educate your children. Sometimes I think that you guys also missed out when it came to learning the thinking process too.

You are right, it DOES sound like something he would do! But, if he did that, he wouldn’t realize his dream of destroying the American economy by forcing the price of oil to go through the roof. Hell, it’s gonna happen anyways if the violence continues to spread throughout the Middle East. Maybe it‘s time to develop OUR oilfields so we won’t have to rely on the crazy Arab world for our oil needs. I think the American public is being mislead(again) by our government, we are sitting on tremendous oil reserves in this country; why else would the Federal Government be buying up and confiscating so much land out in the Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions. They want control of the Bakken oilfield so no private oil company can acquire the rights to drill there. That smells of environmental bull crap, we don’t want to disturb some small, furry little animals that happen to be living there, like the government did for the little smelt that dried-up the farmlands out in California!!!

@ JZS…..I don’t read anyone siding with Castro, just pointing out how ridiculous his statement is given the appeasement minded president that we have who runs around apologizing to other countries for the USAs evil ways. He has stronger words for the Governor of WI than the nut job leader of Iran. Away with your weak skills and your inaccurate assertion !!!

Our “beloved leader” would invade Wisconsin or Arizona before he would take action against another dictator. I wonder of these dictators have an agreement to stick up for each other? That would explain why our “leader” is walking so softly around this mess in Libya.
And are we to believe that Castro is privvy to discussions in the White House now? Maybe Trumka is keeping him informed?

      @COPENLOAF

“Obama doesn’t have the balls to invade anything but Union Pockets.”

Hey! com’on Copen… he’s also invading my pockets and I am just an old retired fart… No COLAs, Health Insurance has gone sky high, gasoline prices out of site simply because he won’t let American companies drill for oil… Need I go on???
