US: North Korea Agrees to Suspend Nuclear Activities

North Korea Agrees to Suspend Nuclear Activities

(AP) — The United States said Wednesday North Korea has agreed to suspend nuclear activities and accept a moratorium on nuclear and long-range missile tests, in a breakthrough in negotiations with the secretive communist nation.

The announcement comes little more than two months after the death of longtime ruler Kim Jong Il, and suggests North Korea has met the key U.S. preconditions for restarting multi-nation disarmament-for-aid talks that the North withdrew from in 2009.

State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said the North has agreed to allow International Atomic Energy inspectors to verify and monitor the moratorium on uranium enrichment and confirm disablement of its nuclear reactor at Yongbyon.

Her statement says the US will meet with North Korea to finalize details for a proposed package of 240,000 metric tons of food aid.

North Korea issued a similar, although differently worded statement released simultaneously in Pyongyang.

An unidentified spokesman from North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said in its statement carried by the state-run news agency that the North agreed to the nuclear moratoriums and the allowance of U.N. inspectors “with a view to maintaining positive atmosphere” for the U.S.-North Korea talks.

The announcement follows talks in Beijing last week between U.S. and North Korean negotiators, the first since negotiations were suspended after Kim’s death in December from a heart attack.

Before his death, the U.S. and North Korea were close to such an agreement, which appears to meets U.S. preconditions for restarting the six-nation talks suspended three years ago.

“The United States still has profound concerns regarding North Korean behavior across a wide range of areas, but today’s announcement reflects important, if limited, progress in addressing some of these,” Nuland said.

She said the United States reaffirms that it does not have hostile intent toward North Korea and “is prepared to take steps to improve our bilateral relationship in the spirit of mutual respect for sovereignty and equality.”

Right – “over and over again”. Lasts just long enough to get the “goods”. Started by the Bill Clinton
Presidency – worked so well – Hillary is using it. Right.

The obama regime fell for the old lie just like others. The North Koreans also promised that they would finally let Amelia Erhart out of their prisons. They‘ve had her since the Japanese ran them in the 30’s and 40′s. She is real old but she can still fly.

So how much money are we borrowing from China to give to China’s surrogate in order to ensure that China can continue to use the surrogate to extort more money from our own Communist government?

    Deja Vu all over again
Here’s an idea, why don‘t we sell the food to North Korean’s comrades the Chi-Coms.Maybe they will let us deduct the sale from our next mortgage payment. At least that way we get something out of this deal.

Sounds about like how much food our fast food joints probably throw out on a nearly daily basis… Its surely alot of food, but when you consider how much Americans have become Gluttons and look at our own internal food consumption I am sure you would realize that this “tiny” amount of food would probably only feed Americans for about 1 to 2 days… (just a guess, but I feel its most likely accurate…) I remember going out to dinner with a family who came to visit from Cambodia (and they were not poor by any means) but they were amazed at not only how much Americans eat in a single sitting, but how much of it we waste.. (The wife actually cried) because what a group of 10 of us wasted after one meal, she told me would feed a normal family in Cambodia for a few days…

And why should I give a crap about a Cambodian, crying about the food we wast.
This is America and we paid for the food.
Sorry it wasn’t fish heads and rice?
Now we will be feeding the north slopes.
We have been down this road before.
As soon as the food deal is used up, they will start thier reactors most Riki-Tic.

So…how much was the bribe this time? See you in 6 months when they start right back up.

I wonder, when their nukes head our way…will we realize the irony in the fact that our bribes to stop their nuclear program is what actually paid for the inbound missles?

I do not know why media would even cover such a statement – it is obviously a lie.

The more likely outcome here is that they are planning a sneak attack on South Korea and American interests in the asian region.

Ha,ha,ha,ha North Korea is going to play by the rules of America I doubt that very much. North Korea has lied for 50 years to the USA and we continue to give them our tax dollars over and over and they continue to lie over and over always saying “we will come to the bargaining table with you”…if you bring the taxpayer’s wallet. North Korea, the United Nations, Hillary Clinton all have become laughing stocks and we continue to pay and add to the $16, 000,000,000,000 debt 5 trillion of which Obama has added in three years. The entire world is now laughing at Obama and Hillary what a success story.

When has N Korea actually followed through on their so-called “promises”? I’m so tired of the whole bribery thing…..Ok if you SAY (because we know you won’t actually do it) you‘ll quit playing with your nuke toys we’ll send food to your people…yeah those same people you purposefully starve.

As soon as that food runs out or when the new crazy in charge gets bored we’ll be right back to square one.

Anybody who believes N Korea is probably also bidding on that ocean front property in AZ
