US Troop Deaths in Afghanistan Under Obama Surpass 1,000: Two-Thirds of US Casualties in War

Last August, the number of U.S. troop casualties in Afghanistan under President Barack Obama became equal to the number of Afghanistan casualties under former President George W. Bush, at 575.

This past week, the number of U.S. casualties in Afghanistan under Obama surpassed 1,000, bringing the total to 1,657. As the planned troop drawdown nears, the number of American deaths has escalated under Obama’s command.

Nonprofit advocacy group Just Foreign Policy noted:

That means that nearly two-thirds of the U.S. fatalities in the war in Afghanistan have occurred during the Obama administration, which has managed the war for a mere quarter of its duration.

Newly installed Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta was in Afghanistan this weekend before heading to Baghdad to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

I GOT KIDS OVER THERE. I warned them back in 07, 08, 09, 10, and 11. The enemy is all around in Afgan. and the main culprit is the commander in cheif. BO. I warned them he will get you killed in a show of allegiance with Islam. This guys pis*** me off something fierce. If he is not charged with Treason. Others have an awful lot of splannen to do. Keeping tabs on their votes. They best be praying the troops come home healthy.

Trooper, obama never said he wanted faux shut down, he merely pointed out that fox is his political enemy, and they are. Nobody in this country has more money and power than rich white christians, playing the victim is a joke for the right wing…remember the 8 years that drove this country under? Oh yeah prolly not because you people didnt give two ***** about two failed wars, our country attacked while bush slept, and the financial crisis engendered by deregulation. Heres an idea, go apoligize to some poor parents of a soldier that bush’s idiocy killed, pray for forgiveness, no one left on earht cares what you wasp dummies have to say.

You all had better get ready to clearly understand where america is right now, and that’s in not such a good place.

One death of an American soldier in combat is horrible. Bush’s invasion of Iraq lead to 5000 deaths of American soldiers. The result? An unstable government in Iraq and the ascendance of Iraq to the most powerful regime in the Middle East. Oops, bad call. 5000 dead Americans and our worst enemy in the middle east now the most powerful player.

So Obama is going after the people who were really responsible for 9-11, and who are exporting terrorism to the US, which is what Bush should have done instead of sending US soldiers into a country that was no direct threat.

Yeah, Americans are getting killed and that’s horrible. But they are going after the real bad guys and they’ve been getting them time and time again. Fewer soldiers were killed in Afghanistan because they weren’t out their going after the bad guys. Compare to the dead between presidencies, if that’s what you want to do, by including the dead in Iraq.

Bring our troops home!!! It’s a “no win” situation over there, not keeping us “safe here”, “fighting there so we don’t have to here” — they are already here! They’ve infiltrated our schools, political arenas, etc. just like the liberals did decades ago. Same strategy – the only one that would work – via “stealth”. So we not only have the libs that have taken over everywhere, the Muslims also are on their way. Check out Dearborn, MI! (site: http://www.actforamerica.com)
We also need our troops on our BORDERS — last night a guy connected to all this says we need thousands now. It’s not only the illegals, it’s the terrorists. They go to Mexico & then come over.
I really hope the Repubs. also come to this realization….I‘ve heard many have but are afraid to say anything bc people will think they’re “unpatriotic”. Sheesh!!!!!

I am tired of trying to rebuild a Country or Countries that will be destroyed as soon as we pull out anyway. They will never get those people organized to fight for themselves. The bad guys come in and kill them or pay them off and they are on their side. Come home and Help us for God’s Sake. Vietnam saw:
      approx. 60,000 dead US soldiers.
approx. 600,000 dead enemy soldiers (I say “enemy” because there were a lot more than Vietnamese fighting against us.)

We protested and screamed about this huge loss of our young Americans…but keep this in mind…for the US to have lost the same PERCENTAGE of its overall population as Vietnam did in the war…we’d have lost close to 10 MILLION young men…a far cry over 60,000.

Maybe on American soil we’d be prepared to lose 10 million, but we sure aren’t when it comes to fighting elsewhere. Maybe in WW1 or WW2 we had it in us…but not now.

Makes you wonder…is it the cost or the blood that holds us back from going ALL out and winning…while accepting the loss of life?

Just like viet nam ,we’re fighting the people of these countrries, not regimes like ww2. When fighting regimes if the leader surrenders the troops do too. here we’re at war with indigenous people in their homelands who resist our unjust meddling and policies which hurt them. The people are rising up, not regimes like in the past. Welcome to the 21st century -the only way for a greedy imperialist superpower to dominate a people is through genocide. Good luck getting your government to go along with that one. hence you viet nam vets and now iraq and afghan vets are all angry that you were manipulated. In a country that prides itself as being a government of the people you allow yourselves to be manipulated every time. .The jihadists are freedom fighters. do your homework gulls! So were the viet naamese where we also propped up brutal dictators. The new millenium is the peoples millenium and your imperialist ,hyper military will not change that. You’re on the wrong side of history behaving like 20th century subjects taking orders from your regime, the indigenous afghans are not taking orders from any regime[and neither were those pakistanis!].
