‘US Weekly’ Publishes Fake Hannity/Palin Story…as Real!

Hot on the heels of Rachel Maddow getting duped by a satirical website post about Sarah Palin, comes US Weekly taking similar comedic bait.
The now scrubbed item was precipitated by a satirical website called SuperTuesdayNews.com. The first clue that SuperTuesdayNews is not a serious outlet might be seen in their masthead photo.
It is plausible that one could miss the Sponge Bob costume in the photo, but the content on the web page is questionable and any serious journalist might know that simply by clicking on the “about us” tab and reading;
Super Tuesday News is a satirical news site launched in January 2011 to lampoon the events, circumstances and players of the 2012 United States Presidential election. We are based in Los Angeles, California.
US Weekly missed it. They slammed both Sarah Palin and Sean Hannity by published excerpts from a non-existent interview:
Potential 2012 presidential candidate Sarah Palin says that if she were president, she would deport pop star Christina Aguilera for botching a portion of The Star-Spangled Banner during her performance at Super Bowl XLV. Making an appearance on Sean Hannity’s radio program on Monday, Palin pointedly criticized Aguilera’s gaffe, and called her out for exhibiting ’diva behavior.’
“Quite frankly, Sean, public figures must be held accountable for what they say,” explained Palin. “Here’s another case of an airhead diva going on TV, running her mouth off, sounding like a fool. She doesn’t understand something so basic about America, yet we’re supposed to tolerate her diva behavior? Americans can see through that, Sean.”
A formal tip of the hat to the folks at Gossip Cop for catching this one. All that remains now is for US Weekly to blame this on Glenn Beck.

Posted on February 9, 2011 at 10:11pmthe left certainly seems to be very afraid of sarah palin. they will say that the fear lies in the type of person she is not the real reason which is that to some deeply buried part of their psyche, sarah evokes a realization within them that integrity, peace through strength, and most conservative values are what work in life. Their (leftists) mindset is like a collection of bad habits that they feel the need to constantly defend in order to distract their conscience away from the truth of this disfunction.

Posted on February 10, 2011 at 8:36amAbby Normal . . . The “college of Phoenix?” Don’t take this wrong way, but that doesn’t really have to do with anything.
Your comment makes it sound like a traditional brick-and-mortar school turns students into real journalists. Journalism, as any other discipline being taught in most universities, has been undermined for a long, long time by liberal steering and shaping. These are creative writers that aren’t so creative. As a result, they’re also dishonest among many other things, to say the least. They simply do not have an outlet other than journalism to move their writing ambitions forward. In a sense, they’re ideological whores lured into a sham industry by illusions of misguided importance.
The kids, the adults and the military personnel that attend the college of Phoenix, they probably get a better education studying on their own than if they had a liberal journalism “professor” pontificating in front of them. That’s pretty clear . . . Just ask a recent college grad what they think of global warming, the UN, capitalism . . . Sarah Palin, GW, terrorism, national security, immigration, racism . . . the truth?
