Van Jones and Co. Unveil ‘Contract for the American Dream’

Van Jones Liberal Contract for the American Dream Contract with America Newt Gingrich Progressive Tea Party

As if Van Jones’ “progressive Tea Party” — a.k.a. Rebuild the Dream — were not enough, the former green jobs czar has assembled an all-star cast of left-wing movers, including MoveOn.org executive director Justin Ruben and Rep. Jan Schakowsky, to help debut the group’s new “Contract for the American Dream.” Does the title sound familiar? That‘s because Jones and company have borrowed the contract’s concept, and title, from former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s 1994 Contract with America.

Rebuild the Dream’s leaders reportedly describe their contract as a “progressive economic vision crafted by 125,000 Americans … to get the economy back on track.” Organizers allege the contract’s debut will involve a nationwide day of action and an ad placement in The New York Times to run at some point this week. Huffington Post explains the premise behind the movement:

The basic premise of the campaign is that America isn’t broke, it’s merely imbalanced. In order to stabilize the economy, politicians should make substantial investments in infrastructure, energy, education and the social safety net, tax the rich, end the wars, and create a wider revenue base through job creation.

“Many of our best workers are sitting idle, while the work of rebuilding America goes undone,” reads one bullet point of the Contract. “Together, we must rebuild our country, reinvest in our people and jump-start the industries of the future. Millions of jobless Americans would love the opportunity to become working, tax-paying members of their communities again. We have a jobs crisis, not a deficit crisis.”

But what Jones’ contract, and the greater Rebuild the Dream movement may really be seeking to achieve is to fill a void present in organized liberal activism. While there is a progressive movement so to speak, it is arguably not as cohesive or identifiable as the Tea Party movement. Perhaps that is what Van Jones and his compatriots hope to attain with Rebuild the Dream.

It is ironic, however, that two conservative icons targeted for condemnation by liberals — Newt Gingrich and the Tea Party as a whole — have turned out to be their very inspiration.

Ever since 8/28′s success, the progressives have tried everything to get a similar movement together. Unfortunately, their ideals are not the American Dream; which is about freedom to choose, striving for a better life, and doing it your own way. With progressives, it’s their way or the highway, and through government programs, unions,MSM, and political power the collective will carry out their “American Dream”.

Much like Obama..Van Jones has no idea what to do anymore. His kooky theories about “unbalanced” as opposed to broke and “rebuilding” fall apart even with a cursory examination. They’re as dumb as his “9/11 was an in side job” theories. Look..Van Jones is spent, his best days (I use that expression very loosely) are way behind him. He was effectively castrated by Glenn Beck and he‘s at his wits’ end about it.

Why does this idiot think we are 14 trillion in debt. We have dumped boatloads of cash into programs for “infrastructure” and education and our roads are just as crappy and our kids just as uneducated, so how does that fix things?
This is just another push from the left to let government take over everything and take care of people by giving them everything they need cradle to grave. Communism is communism no matter how you try to market it. That is the only system where the government creates jobs because under communism no one else is allowed to. See Russia and other communist countries to see how well that works out.

Van Jones is a perpetual motion machine–something for nothing! He defies all the laws of science, physics, economics, but he’s going to save the World, or destroy it while trying! People are so gullible! I asked a lady the other day if she were going to remove the bulbs from her floor lamps that were standing, without shades, in her moving container. She gave me a funny look! I said, “Surely, you don’t want these to break, contaminating ALL YOUR EARTHLY BELONGINGS with mercury!” She gave me a funnier look! I asked her if she realized the ‘green movement’ insofar as CFL’s are concerned, is just a big hoax? GE wasn’t making enough profit margin on their incandescent bulbs, so they went to Washington with the right arithmetic, but the wrong math, (it calculates, but the WRONG THING), and convinced George Bush (yep, he IS responsible for taking his eye off the ball on THIS ONE) to sign legislation outlawing the electric light (as we knew it)! We have too much business in government and we have too much government in business! She looked dejectedly a the floor and said “I thought there was something wrong with this!” And, then, she did the right thing! She carefully removed each and every light bulb and packed them in a separate box, so if they broke in transit, the HAZMAT would be suitably contained!

The groops that agree with him are the very liberal and the people who don’t want to work but live the same way as the ones who do want to work.

The usual cast of charectars in the mental minority are yet again attempting to shout folks down, throw food, and call names because the American people have repeatedly rejected so-called “progressive” agendas time and time again. The question I want answered is “whose progress Van”? My family certainly isn’t better off now than we were when I was a child. I am pretty certain that things will not be better for my children than they were for me. Needless to say, this really ****** me off! I think that progress would by definition need to begin by allowing all of these fools who think that socialism is the answer to move to Cuba or some other Marxist mud-hole, otherwise they need to have some coke and a smile and STFU!

Do people wonder why it is so important that Progressives destroy Christianity in America ?
If you are a Christian, you believe in and try to follow the Ten Commandments (wonder why that was banned)
One of the Commandments is THOU SHALT NOT COVET
Covet means to WANT that which belongs to SOMEONE ELSE
Social Justice is a SIN…taking that which belongs to someone else is another sin..Thou shalt not STEAL
You must get rid of Christianity if you are going to say Lying, Stealing, and Coveting are ok…those are the basis for Social Justice
It is ok to want something LIKE someone else has…but when you want, or take that which belongs to someone else that is a sin.
People like Van Jones and Al Sharpton and obama must destroy the values America was built on in order to succeed in their Social Justice programs. Sorry guys, Social Justice is a SIN and cannot be called by any other name.

    ______________________________________________________________________

Exactly, what “Plan”? I don’t see any plan that Van Jones has. Obama also has no plan. It’s all “let’s continue what we have been doing” – which is clearly not working. Name one Country/Nation where Keynesian economics have worked. You won’t be able to, because they have never worked anywhere. Yet, this is “model” that the Obama Administration is trying to implement.

Governments do not create growth. It is created by individuals that have a great idea or product that everyone wants. Governments are a “cost” to a Country. They don’t produce income. They are necessary to protect our borders, to provide sanitation services such as trash removal, and road building so that it’s Citizens can freely travel to where they need to be.

All government employees are merely “expenses” to run a City, State, and Nation. They are the clerical workers of the World. Right now we have the most inept CEO that we have ever had.

This is the ‘shovel ready jobs’ we just spent one TRILLION dollars on in the stimulus package. Oops ..those jobs did not get done ! These are UNION jobs to appease the Mob..Union bosses. All this work does need to be done, but how many times can tax payers pay for it ??? Let private companies contract for the work and hire employees that they can afford to pay to do the work. Private companies cannot afford union wages…but the American tax payer can go deeper into debt to pay off the bosses. No, this is not a good thing…it is another rip off of tax payer money for the SECOND time…obama has already gotten a TRILLION for this once …and it was NOT used for the work..it was used as payoffs to buddies. If private companies do the work then tax money is paid INTO the coffers…instead of 4 times as much going out of the coffers.

Obama just threw away trillions of dollars on stimulus 1 and 2 trying to do exactly what that loser Van Jones is attempting..”infrastructure/shovel ready jobs, green jobs, expansion of unemployment benefits and food stamps, bottom up, keynesian theory”. It’s been a miserable failure and an expensive one. To educate you, you cannot have growth without employers willing to expand and take risks. Infrastructure jobs are not growth jobs, they are funded by tax money. “Green jobs” are a niche market where the technology is not where the demand is. Van Jones also proposes Obama’s hand out programmes and unemployment benefit expansion, this is his “social safety nets”. This has proven to be a resounding failure..just like Van Jones and Obama are failures. DIANE TX please try to think before you express your support the kind of non-sense idiots like Van Jones throw around. Seriously…you’re an adult..start thinking like one.

The problem with this is that what is Jones’ “dream” is that to many of us, it’s a “nightmare”!

Stated right in the Contract is: “America is not broke: America is rich – still the wealthiest nation ever. But too many at the top are grabbing the gains. No person or corporation should be allowed to take from America while giving little or nothing back. The super-rich who got tax breaks and bailouts should now pay full taxes – and help create jobs here, not overseas. Those who do well in America should do well by America.”

Jones is ignoring that many of us hard-working stiffs of the U.S. ARE BASICALLY BROKE! I can‘t afford to provide for others than for whom I’m directly responsible. I give to others as I can, but I cannot “carry” those who want rights that are not directly covered by the Constitution–Life, Liberty and the PURSUIT of Happiness. I will share anything I have with anyone in real need, but I will not enable others to live generation to generation making excuses for not working, not feeding themselves, not educating themselves, not being active in constructive ways in society.

When I wanted to go to college (several years after graduating from high school), I hunted up a job (even though I was already employed), at a major university in order to earn Tuition Remission. I couldn’t afford college and I was not going to take on massive loans. It was one of the best places to work and I completed my education too!
