Van Jones: Occupy...Saved the Entire Country From DestructionFormer Obama administration green jobs czar Van Jones said Saturday the Occupy Wall Street movement essentially “saved the entire country from destruction.”

Jones made the comments in Los Angeles ahead of his appearance at an “All in for the 99%” training event, saying Occupy “disrupted the narrative” as both parties “barreling toward more austerity.”

“[The] Occupy movement pretty much saved the entire country from destruction,” Jones said in an interview posted online. “Both political parties were barreling toward more austerity, more cutbacks, more pain for the people and more — basically both political parties had managed to converge on this idea of basically no rules for the rich, no rights for the poor, no middle class to speak of. That was basically the agenda, the question was just how much pain how fast.”

“Occupy Wall Street came on and completely disrupted the narrative,” he said. All the ‘austerity, austerity, cut, cut, cut’ stuff went away and suddenly even Republicans had to talk about income inequality and that whole theme. Occupy Wall Street really kind of, like, helped us to hit a reset in the country.”

Jones compared Occupy Wall Street to the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee [SNCC] of the 1960s, the organization that played a major role in the sit-ins and freedom rides of the civil rights movement.

“They were the young ones, they were the most aggressive, the most passionate,” he said.

Jones said next week will kick off a massive training effort, in the style of the 1960s, to teach protesters nonviolent civil disobedience. In what’s being called “The 99% Spring,” Jones’ organization, Rebuild the American Dream, is partnering with the SEIU, MoveOn.org, the Domestic Workers Alliance and others to train 100,000 people across the country in direct action.

“We’ll have this standing contingent of people who want real change who understand the issues,” Jones said.

      I lost a couple of pounds recently… I am the 99% LOL

      Occupy did nothing but waste millions of dollars, stink up the streets, spread diseases, commit crimes,and promote hatred to gullible children. In this city, once, they spoke about them on television as if they actually mattered, but the truth is that they are merely 23 idiots yelling at cars as they drove by… yup, only 23 people showed up out of about the approx. 145,000 to occupy one of the city parks and yell at passing cars. They are the 0.016% that are being totally ignored here. They haven’t caused any problems though. They’re only about 3 drug addled hippies and bums and about 20 dirty and stupid college kids.

      They are the stupidest 0.016% of the city that are just wasting their time instead of going to the classes that their parents are paying big money for. LOL
      If they were my kids, I’d simply stop paying their tuition and rent, and they’d likely come home where I would lecture them for wasting my time and money due to their idiotic behavior.

      As for the hippies, they aren’t doing anything different than they always did except for yelling and holding signs – maybe just bringing back fond memories of the foolishness of their childhood.

      @Maccow is directly on the mark. When our nation embraced the religion of secularism and the churches were watered down with the vile culture of the world, it signaled the end of our nation.

      If the law of God is not written on our hearts by the Holy Spirit, we are only playing feel-good religion. This easy-believism of the churches today consists of spiritually dead preachers with no knowledge of truth preaching to ignorant dead souls sitting in pews. It consists of non-Biblical messages which excite the emotions, usually ending with an “accept Jesus” as your Savior message. No where is this found in the Bible. Then they ask you to say a “sinner’s prayer.” Again, no Biblical precedence.

      The result: people thinking they’re going to heaven as they continue in their sin. They have no daily cross, no self-denial, and do not continue in the Word of God. There are the basic essentials Christ said we need to be His disciples. Because of this false teaching, we have no agonizing over sin, no one preaches the gospel, and subsequently no one is hated for the sake of the gospel.

      Our heathen nation is at the end of itself. Abortion, homosexuality, fornication, pornography, greed, hedonism, drugs, alcohol, gambling, but most of all – the forsaking of the LORD God of Scripture and His Son, the genuine Savior are the reasons the United States is being judged by Almighty God. This is the truth.

      Remember that Van Jones declared his intentions to make and run with an 99%rs party in some 2000 sets of elections in county, city, state and federal elections; this will probably happen in 2016. In which Van Jones will be presented as the “alternative to democracy” (better phrased of course) candidate.
