Van Jones: Questioning Global Warming Like Questioning If Cigarettes Cause Cancer, HIV Causes AIDS

Van Jones, speaking at the University of Oregon, Jul 9, 2012:

“There is conflict in the science, you’re right. Five percent of the climate scientists dispute whether or not global warming is happening, and if it’s happening whether or not human activity is causing it. Five percent of the scientists disagree. There’s also conflict in the science around HIV. And whether HIV causes AIDS. Five percent of the scientists dispute whether or not HIV is the culprit…95 percent say it is. There’s also conflict in the science around whether tobacco causes cancer. Five percent of the scientists say, well some people smoke, they don’t get cancer, that can’t be the answer. So, based on, based on, conflict in the science — WHOOPEE! WHOOPEE!  — somebody comes up to you and says go have unprotected sex, smoke 12 packs a day, and keep using fossil fuel, they’re using the same illogical logic model. So is that clear?”

      VOTE, If THAT’S really something you think your going to get satisfaction on, you’re in for a rude awakening (Especially since the SCOTUS has ruled EXACTLY THAT, in 2010 in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.). Not that it will actually wake you up. How about these: Are Unions “People”? Are Charities “People”? Is the Sierra Club “People”? Is the Federal Government “People”? (Those are rhetorical questions, since the answer you would give would be flat-out WRONG).

      Since when does this site care what the SCOTUS thinks? Last I checked, those guys were “idiots” for their ruling on the Affordable Care Act.

      Regardless. Romney is about as in touch with modern Americans as an African Native at a KKK rally. And about as interesting as a plank of wood. Watching him justify any of his policies to any group that hasn’t already gobbled his manjunk – AKA, anyone other than Fox News and the uneducated conservative right – is going to be an excellent use of my time.

      I don’t fault the man for being successful, I fault him for being out of touch. I don’t fault him for using tax loopholes, I fault him for denying they exist. I don’t fault him for shipping jobs overseas and ruining the lives of thousands of his employees whilst at Bain Capital, I fault him for denying it.

      If you want to be a money-hungry, capitalistic greedbag, by all means go right ahead. But don‘t act like you’re some charitable saint. And CERTAINLY don’t act like you know how to run this country. You don’t know the first thing about growing up middle class except for the stories your butler told you while he wiped your butt at night.

      You always lighten my day.
      I’m not sure where Jones came up with the 5% number. I have looked at the National Academy of Science membership, and only found three people who claim any background in ‘climatology’, and in each case it is a subordinate interest.
      Climatology strikes me as a ‘study’ rather than a ‘science’ anyhow, but I don’t believe that any of O.‘s cronies even know what ’science’ is, let alone Jones.
      That 5% number is interesting, though. I’m thinking that 5% of the population was successful at injecting (carefully chosen word) AIDS in the general populace.

    Van, there hasn’t been any warming for over a decade. That’s not speculation, that’s the science. The 800 pound gorilla in greenhouse gas room is Water Vapor. It makes up about 93% of all greenhouse gasses. Take an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper – that represents all greenhouse gas. No put a dot on the page about the size of a pinhead – that represents all of the carbon dioxide man puts into the atmosphere. There simply is no way man could be causing global warming based on the amount of carbon dioxide we put into the atmosphere!

    I did research in South Florida at NOVA, where we collect data on water temperatures throughout the world and the one thing I learn is that the earth does not have a thermostat. The temperature of the Earth has been changing since the earth was first created. Water tables have risen, continents have moved and this will continue to happen until the sun turns into a red giant and we are within the sun’s corona. We should focus more on creating technology to adapt to these changes instead of coming up with schemes on how to tax people for things they are not necessarily causing…I still remember the fear mongers of the 70′s saying the world was going to be destroyed from over population and the next ice age by the year 2000…Came and went…People should get their heads out of you know where and use some common sense.

      Now lets look at this, if Obama gets elected we have 4 more years of this garbage. If you are under the thinking “the economy cannot collapse we are America” then the best thing to happen is Obama wins and we have really angry and hopefully smarter voters in 2016. Why is that?       Remember the Beck episode where he threw the fake frog in the water? Well some of us got the message and jumped out. McCain would have been just as bad as Obama.

      Look as bad as I talk about Romney I prefer him to Obama. The minor issues they are different on arent enough for Romney to get my vote. I think if we still have a country in 2016 the GOP will realize the Liberty Movement is the key to victory and not to shove our candidate aside again.

    I used to get update when I would hear people from other countries say Americans are stupid…..however, they are right. The majority of Americans are stupid…..but some of the blame has to be laid onto the school system. However, at some point in time individuals have to take up the responsibility of educating themselves, which many have failed to do.

    If people would educate themselves on this they would see that this is nothing more than a way for the government to take more of your money and rights. Research it and you will see, but I’m sure many would rather play on their iphone and see what is going on in Hollywood instead.
