Van Jones Emcees Profanity-Laced, Bush-and-Business-Hating, ‘Green’ Poetry Slam

Guess where Van Jones is popping up now? The former Green Jobs Czar shared emcee duties at the Brave New Voices Speak Green poetry slam — a competition where “youth from around the country, ages 13 – 24, compete for the opportunity to travel on behalf of Youth Speaks to some of the key conferences and summits on the Environment to date.” The topic of this year’s event? Global warming.

As you’ll see, the young poets stayed on point. One blasted BP head Tony Hayward and made sure to include the “F” word and mock the man’s wife. Another said Bush didn’t deserve his second term, and alluded to the former President not caring about hurricane Katrina.

That’s where Van Jones comes in. This year’s annual poetry slam was held in L.A. and featured the deposed Green Czar. After the event, Jones spoke candidly about young people embracing the green movement as “social justice,” and how that’s been his plan for the last 10 years.

“To see young people, this new generation, they have a new vision for the environment,” he said. “They don’t see the distinction between social justice and the environment — they want to see healthy people and healthy planet. That‘s what I’ve been talking about for 10 years.”

He went on to call the poems and their messages “beautiful.” The full 11 minute video is below, featuring two poets and Jones at the end:

Here‘s the full video of the first young person’s poem chiding BP and Tony Hayward. The poet’s name is Ceez Live, a 19 year-old from Philadelphia:

According to the site of Human Nature magazine, Ceez Live said it was important for youth to be leaders in the going green movement. “This competition is important because it’s the youth,” he told the site. “The youth being the next generation the people who are going to become your presidents, your lawyers, your doctors and your environmentalists.”

The poetry event aired on HBO this month.

    I wouldn’t expect anything less from George Soros. This is just another way for the green energy idiots to prove how stupid they can be. Especially when they have to use language like that to try and get their point across. I was told that all cursing does is show that whoever is trying to make a point doesn’t have the necessary vocabulary skills to do it.
    These kids that are there is because their parents are too busy doing what they would rather do, than educate their kids themselves. So they think that they are doing the right thing by letting or sending their kids to these types of meetings.

    Someone above wrote “I see few doctors in this crowd”. The reality is, if the left gets their way, these are the future doctors, lawyers, educators and politicians of our country. They are what I call “The gimme people”, never having to earn anything, always in need of a “gimme”. We need to squash this group over and over, ’cause like the cockroaches they are, they reproduce without having to worry about raising their spawn, they just say “Gimme”.

      Yes, If the liberals get there way this will be the case. However, I don’t hold out much hope that many of these kids wilmake anything of themselves. It takes time, dedication, and effort to be a doctor, lawyer, or educator and I don’t see any of that in these people.

      Just because it says somewhere that everyone has to be considered “equal” doesn’t mean that everyone is the “same”.

      When the SHTF the people like you and I will come out ok on the other side because we are used to competition. Progressives can’t stand competition, which will ultimately be their downfall. While the progressive agenda thrives on a destructive path for this country, conservatives are stocking up on firearms, ammunition, food, and the most powerful ally….God.

      All of this Obama, Pelosi, Van Jones crap is only leading to the awakening of conservative America, of which I’m a proud member.

      As conservatives, our biggest foe has been apathy, and complacency.

    I’m speechless but not at all surprised….. The heavy set white girl is typical of homely white girls embracing black culture ….why ? She has been shunned by white men because she is not attractive…I’m sorry, but it’s true, sad but true…doesn‘t make it right or fair or just and I’m not ridiculig her….but true….and it’s true of a lot of white women that have lost their self esteem. You don’t see proud black women trying to embrace white culture…speech…etc….not many anyway. In other words, it is NOT okay for white women to embrace “ebonics” and abuse our vocabulary like it does…it’s slang….black street slang…nothing more….and they are proud of it….jeezooooo. But aside from all of that, this was a form of expression ?       Unfortunately, I am a California transplant- hate being here by the way. As for the angry white girl, I do not understand the direction of her fury. On our way here (our relocation) we drove through a hundred miles of desolate, lying in waste, farmland that USE to be very fertile crops and orchards. Wasn’t it the libs that created this dust bowl?     Their (Jones) feigned concern for the environment is quite transparent. For the left, environmentalism is merely a vehicle in support of a socialist agenda. Global warming is/was a subset of this attempt. If that one didn’t work, there are all sorts of other environmental “tools” that can be used in the same way.

    In truth, the political “critters” don’t care a whit about the environment. Truly, they don’t have the intellectual capacity to understand the system in the first place. What they do have, is a truly megalomaniacal need to separate you from your wealth. See how quickly aspects of environmentalism are cast aside when they no longer have the power to motivate the population politically.

    Anything is acceptable as long as it crowbars wealth and property out of the hands of private hands, and into the coffers of government.

      I am guessing it is the generation before mine who took over Hollywood. No talent, no creativity, just making re-runs of movies already written, or comic book writers are having to come up with the ideas for them. The shows I watched growing up in the 60‘s and 70’s were so much more creative and funny than today’s, by comparison. I quit watching network TV in the 90′s.

      JAMES, my son came home from school and told me that his teacher was holding forth in class that teachers should make the same pay as doctors since the teachers are part of thier education. This is an eight grade lib loser who thinks he is so instrumental in a kids life that he should get his ‘fair’ share too. I told my son that if this idiot brings up the subject again my boy should point out that some kids go on to be dropouts and McDonalds workers. Average in that to his ‘doctors pay’ and he is getting paid too much.

      Why are they idiots? Their language is no more obscene than Shakespeare‘s plays or Henry Miller’s novels or Baudelaire’s poetry, and their turn of phrase is of higher quality than most. Ceez Live’s poem was poignant, with the power to touch anyone who has lost a parent prematurely. Perhaps the idiot is the one who cannot recognize art when it is gritty and rough. The only thing worse than a bad artist is a bad critic.

      My daughter graduated from a “school of the arts” (great school, by the way) but they had a yearly event called “Coffee House”, which you can just imagine by the name, back in the 80′s. These kids dressed in black, of course, wrote and read the most depressing poetry I have ever heard. It was what they expected from each other with their teenage, lack of life’s experience, philosophy. I imagine with the “green” subject matter spoon-fed to these young minds, they assume this is what is expected of them. If there was a conference and contest advancing the opposite science I suspect there would be some outstanding poetry without the need for expletives.

      I started watching the videos.. began having technical difficulties.. stopping starting stopping starting.. so I continued reading posts. Happened on yours and started watching it. Huge MM fan here.. I was listening to it and could her something in the background.. sounded like rapping so I figured someone was rapping her lyrics?? Anyhow went back to the original Blaze page and lo and behold the sound of the (poets) was still on. It was Amazing!!! It gave me goosebumps!!! MM singing God Bless America resonated loud and clear while the (poets) were just background noise. I thought it was a beautiful analogy. Our voices can not be drowned out by psyco babble!!       This has got to make their parents proud. This says so much about our society today, it makes me wanna cry; it is so sad that this is what we have taught our kids or allowed them to do. Personally, I am all over my kids, BY EXAMPLE. I NEVER swear period, because to me, it really does say a lot about your character and the lack of control you have over your own mouth. But sad to say, the problem in our society is LACK OF CONTROL for everything. Society teaches basically, that everything is ok, including allowing children to do whatever they want, as long as they don’t steal, maim, or murder (and some of current law actually defends these kids). But, it’s okay to speak evil things to your friends, on Facebook, and to mouth off to the elders. If I had ever done that with my Dad, I would have ended up thrown into the next state. I have the utmost respect for my elders. I guess that just isn’t popular today. LACK OF CONTROL and NO SELF-RESPECT. If each child was brought up with some self-worth and respect, they would act and be different, I am sure. AND, if they are brought up in a Bible-based church, I believe they would have great values instilled in them for life, even if they strayed – they’d end up coming back to a self-respected and value-based lifestyle. I could NOT watch the video, but I did read the article and that was enough for me NOT TO WATCH IT. If my kids ever talked like that, they would not be welcome in my home until they apologized. My house IS NOT A FREE ZONE FOR AN INDIVIDUAL’S EXPRESSION. If you want that, go to your own cave.

      What do you mean missed, TRUTHTALKER? He just sneaks in the back door of the WH now instead of in the front. I am willing to bet he still has his same office. just paid by Soros now instead of Obama. Any guess as to why the WH will no longer release visitors logs? Any guess as to why Soros‘ girl Friday is now Michele O’s new chief of staff?

      This guy says youth will be the next generation who are going to become “your presidents, your lawyers, your doctors and your environmentalists”. But 85 % of htese radical fools won’t get through high school. I suppose affirmitive action might be able to help them do something.
