Van Jones Turns Beck Debate Challenge Into Potential Fox News Commercial

Recently, The Blaze posted a video of Van Jones, the Obama Administration’s former “green jobs czar,” at last week’s Netroots Nation conference, challenging Glenn Beck to a debate.
The challenge came after the bombastic Jones, sounding more like a televangelist than a former Administration employee, blasted FOX News for allegedly “abusing” our children’s ears, and corroding the airwaves with “lies” and “filth.”
But on radio today, Beck didn’t seem to be too interested in the proposition, at least, he said, not until Jones could be “honest” about his past:
There’s really not anything to talk about until you’re honest and you say you want the overthrow of the government as you have in the past. The violent overthrow for a Marxist government. When you’re honest, then people can have a debate.”

But some people just can’t take a hint and Jones has stepped up his pursuit of Beck by taking his challenge viral with a new a MoveOn.org ad. In the 30 second clip, a smiling Jones accuses Beck of attacking “the American dream itself,” and asks Beck if he’s “ready to talk this out?”
Glenn Beck has spent a lot of time repeating lies about me. I can handle attacks on me, but last week Beck attacked the American Dream itself. Now that’s an attack on millions of hard working Americans who just wanna give their kids a better life. So today I’m issuing a challenge to Glenn Beck to debate anytime, anywhere, about our nation’s future. I want the American Dream to be real again for all Americans. So Glenn: you ready to talk this out?

Apparently, MoveOn officials told The Huffington Post they hope to entice FOX News to place the ad during Beck’s time-slot on June 30th — his final broadcast on Fox. If they’re unable to persuade the network, MoveOn claims it will make “contingency plans.”

You understand that Beck and FOX have had a mutual parting of ways, although I think the parting of ways had more to do with Beck’s having lost all his major advertisers than anything else (FOX is a capitalistic enterprise after all). You’re right, it is the 15th round for Beck. He’ll be around on his internet show for awhile, but he’s basically gone.
But BEAR, what does Beck leaving FOX have to do with a debate? Do you think it’s because Beck has lost so much of his audience, and is trying to start a new venture and is particularly vunerable? Wouldn’t knocking out Jones give him a boost? He could do it you say, so why not?
Whatever the reason, Beck is a chicken. He’s not about to debate someone, anyone who could knock him down a notch or two. Say what you want about Van Jones but Beck is skeered of him. Beck is a chicken.

You are not anything close to consistent. The last programs have already been planned and scripted. GB is right to ignore VJ at this point. As far as I am concerned, the debate is over. Interesting too that when I challenged Blaze readers to give me a single, solitary American or unchristian comment from the last Jones video posted here, no one responded (except of course to call me a bag of crap).
Seeker says, “As far as I am concerned, the debate is over.” Seeker, there has been no debate. Beck has certainly slammed Jones, but Jones hasn’t responded. Until now. Jones would like the chance to confront his accuser in spirit of the American system of justice.
Seeker, Beck can’t afford to debate Jones. I’m not saying I support Jones, but Beck, in his cowardly one-sided way, has portrayed him as absolute evil (actually, I think there’s a lawsuit). Financially, Beck needs the Jones straw man to keep the dollars, which flow from fear, coming his way.
But basically, and I think you know this, Beck is a coward. He never debated anyone on his show. He attacked, but wouldn’t do it in the face of anyone who could challenge him. He’s a coward and a chicken. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it.

Jones and Glenn are probably both trying to make money. How sincere are they in their efforts to “improve the world?” I simply don’t know.

- Hannity will bring idiots on his show and debate them. If he brings a smart person on, he’ll have two other people with the opposite opinion and shout down the liberal and not allow them to get two words out.
- O’ Reilly will debate anyone including Beck. He gets President Obama on his show because he challenge him but doesn‘t ask totally loaded questions and doesn’t shout him down. He’s one of the smarter and more decent people at FOX.
- Ed will take on anyone, but makes a fool out of himself most of the time. Ed may have an audience, but I’m not among them (although frankly I don’t have cable).
- Maddow will take on anyone. She has a PhD in public policy and will debate anyone. But as much as she asks, most conservatives won’t take her on.
