Van Jones Unloads on Libertarians: They ‘Hate’ the ‘Brown Folk, the Gays, the Lesbians’…They‘re ’Anti-Immigrant Bigots’

In a venomous speech this weekend, notorious ex-Obama aid Van Jones went on a hate-filled rant against “cheap patriotism” and “libertarians,” calling out his free-market opponents as “anti-immigrant, bigots.”

Jones was introduced by actor and Obama activist Edward Norton, who likened the disgraced former Green Jobs Czar to the Dali Lama.

“When I was on a panel once with [Jones] and the Dali Lama it was a toss up as to who was wiser, Van or the Lama” Norton mused.

Jones began his speech by citing his six months of work in the White House before launching into a tirade against the “so-called Libertarians.”

In citing the Libertarian principle of economic liberty, Jones stated “They’ve taken their despicable ideology and used it a wrecking ball, that they have painted red, white and blue, to smash down every good thing in America.”

Jones continued, “They say they’re Patriots but they hate everybody in America who looks like us.  They say they love America but they hate the people, the brown folk, the gays, the lesbians, the people with piercings, ya know ya’ll.”

“You know your right-wing cousin that you can’t even talk to at Thanksgiving? Always posting what a patriot he or she is?” Jones asked the crowd at one point.  ”They love going to New York City! [sarcastically] I just had to take my child to see America’s beauty.” Jones then referenced the Statue of Liberty and fumed ”You can’t be an anti-immigrant bigot and a Patriot at the same time.”

In an action item, Jones commanded, ”It’s time to take the country away from this cheap patriotism and stand for some deep patriotism.”

The smoldering, anti-capitalism diatribe concluded with Jones asking the audience to purchase his book: “Give me and my book another round of applause! On sale now!”

The speech took place at the “All In For The 99%” rally in Los Angeles Saturday.  The Rally was a gathering of multitudinous left-wing organizations and activists that include SEIU and Moveon.org as well as notables like Val Kilmer, Russell Simmons, Marisa Tomei and Edward Norton.

I guess that if Van wants to hate something… he just makes up his own definition!

      Here’s the full quote:

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
      With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

I just LOVE it when people who don‘t know me from Adam claim I’m either a racist or homophobe or whatever the term du jour is that day. It’s easy to toss out terms like that. The idea is to see what sticks.

And sadly, it says a lot more about Van Jones than it does about me. Tragically, the picture is not pretty, either. The siege mentality has got to go, Van, or it will eat you up from inside, just like it’s doing to Big Al and his sidekick Jesse and countless other sad cases I could name. That’s the real tragedy here.

The Libertarians that I’ve listened to explain their philosophy all seem to the opposite of what they are being accused here. They just want all of us to be left alone to pursue happiness in life in our own way; to limit government from interfering in their efforts. I don’t think I ever heard any disparaging remarks about Brown Folk, the Gays, the Lesbians, the people with piercings, or ‘Legal Immigrants’ from the likes of Judge Andrew Napolitano, John Stossel, Ron or Rand Paul, or the many other Libertarians I’ve heard. Quite the opposite, in fact.

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.” – Marcus Tullius Cicero

Republicorp, Ron Paul is the only philisophical Libertarian running for POTUS. They do not have to say his name. Paul is the threat to the status quo, they know this, they have seen the true numbers and are getting nervous. I am sure they do not want to mention Pauls name because of the fear they have for him so they just use the term Libertarianism. To use his name would be to give Paul more recognition, and I know they do not want that. They do however use the baseless talking points of the media and people like you who have no clue what being a Libertarian is all about. If you would like to know the philosophy of a Libertarian, you need to watch this video titled The Philosophy of Liberty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muHg86Mys7I

Hey Van, please cite some source behind you BS. Libertarians are for liberty of all people. The browns, the gays, the blacks, the immigrants (provided they came here legally. We are against Unions that abuse politics in order to create stronger central power bases that are easily corrupted by the few. We are for the broad distribution of power to the people, which is the founding doctrine of this country. We support even you having liberty and a fair justice system (note not equal justice – as equality is not obtainable as all lawyers are not equally adept at their professions – nor can everyone afford the best lawyer).

I think you need to reconsider what you call patriotic, as your hate speech is 100% anti patriotic. Patriotism is not the belief in the government, but love for the rule of law. When an American is patriotic, they love liberty as stated in the Constitution and not the gross abuse of power by your ilk and the progressive movement. Your “patriotism” is of a new form of government that is not the intentions of our great nation.

Jone’s comments are designed to combat the divide between Blacks and Hispanics since the Martin saga has pitted those two groups against one another.

So Jones says that Libertarians are anti-“brown” and anti-“immigrant”. This is specifically designed to anger Hispanics against whites. Won’t work. Whites and Hispanics have too much in common. First, Christianity. Second, a culture of work. Third, a tradition of being family centered.

Blacks, in contrast, are drifting to Islam. No-go with Hispanics. Blacks have a poor work ethic (as a group, there are certainly individuals to whom this does not apply). Also, about 60% of black children are born out of wedlock. Nothing says anti-family like not making sure your kids have a good, solid, home to grow up in.

Blacks need to fix their problems. Don’t blame whitey. Simple formula: go to school and graduate, don’t have sex until marriage, obey the law, don’t use drugs/alcohol and if you have kids, marry before bearing children. 90% of blacks’ issues would vanish if they followed this. And whitey has nothing to do with their success.

    As usual, Van Jones’s rhetoric is full of (S)omething (H)e (I)gnorantly (T)hinks.

I’m a Conservative Libertarian, and I LOVE the black people, the brown people, the red, white, and yellow people. I love the gays. I lurve the lesbians. :-) I love the immigrant who stands in line, takes his tests, pays his taxes, and contributes to society in order to become a citizen and does it right.

What I hate are the ILLEGAL immigrants.

What I hate are the anti-humanists, the ones who want to herd us all into giant ant farms called cities in order to let nature take over our small towns and farm lands. To whom, a moth or a mouse, or a bird is more important than private property rights and jobs.

What I hate are the ignorant elites who think that an unelected politburo– oh, sorry, that unelected white house czars know how to run American industry and the economy better than hundreds of millions of thinking minds operating the economy every day.

Love the Screen Name. I wonder how Van Jones would respond to the guy who showed up outside the 2008 Obamao rally in Phoenix carrying an AR-15 and a handgun. You might remember all of the MSM outlets running pictures of the rifle and the pistol as well as the long sleeved white shirt the guy was wearing. What they failed to point out (or more accurately intentionally omitted) was that they had cropped the photos to prevent showing the mans hands or face. The reason behind that was that he was a BLACK Libertarian and staunch supporter of the Second Amendment.

BTW If you aren’t currently a member, there is a gun rights group for gays called the “Pink Pistols”. Their motto is “Gays with guns don’t get bashed.” I learned about them at a Second Amendment Foundation Gun Rights Policy Conference. I have a lot of gay friends and really wished more of them would realize that they are the ones responsible for their own safety because when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

Not that I agree with anything that Van Jones says but because we’re mostly Conservatives here (except for the little-c, quasi-conservative Ron Paul faction)…

The libertarian version of freedom brings nothing new and much that should be rejected.

For a conservative, there can never be a libertarian option because the conservative understands the social contract. He learned this in fourth grade when he figured out his obnoxious behavior annoys others, and if he shoots off his mouth, he might get beaten up.

The conservative understands the relationship between rights and responsibility, liberty and license. He recognizes that individual behavior is not always a private matter. Sometimes it’s between you and society, you and your neighbor, you and the vulnerable. Sometimes your behavior is, in fact, somebody else’s business.

The conservative understands that laws have the power to order behavior and encourage civilized society. The libertarian loses sleep, believing that legal restrictions and social norms exist just to oppress him. He could not be more wrong. No one is thinking of him at all.

With all the libertarian emphasis on personal liberty, there is remarkably little attention paid to personal obligation. In fact, the notion of obligation itself is almost anathema: No one should be forced to do anything.

Extreme libertarianism accepts virtually no exterior restraint on personal liberty, and too quickly demonizes persons and institutions without foundation. “There shalt be no law against me” is the libertarian commandment. It comes just after “Thou shalt hold the Jews responsible for every evil in the world,” and just before “If something can be too easily explained, thou shalt consider it a conspiracy.”

Your sincere, heartfelt belief—if it happens to deviate from the libertarian view—is hopelessly flawed. Doubtless you are being mind-controlled and don’t even know it. Even good manners are suspect. Be careful: Someone is about to take something from you.

Echoing the hippie drumbeat, libertarians are certain that a) The establishment is relentlessly gunning for you; b) Prostitution is a victimless crime (forget the ravaged families and the rampant disease; c) The federal government was wrong to impose civil rights laws; and d) The war on dangerous, illicit drugs has failed, so let’s just legalize everything. (The wars on rape, murder, marital infidelity and stupidity have also failed, but we all pretty much agree they should continue.)

The libertarian belief that it is always unconstitutional for the federal government to interfere in a state matter would effectively vacate the basic civil rights the constitution was created to protect.

The libertarian position would be; You can shoot your mouth off if you want but don’t run to the teacher crying when someone punches your face in.
The liberal position would be to ban all offensive words, games, and sports that involve physical contact.
The conservative position, of course, would be to post the 10 commandments in all public schools.

That is just stupid. You are making an assumption about all libertarians based off of the fringe elements. Thats like judging all Christians based on the Westboro Baptist Church. You should be ashamed.

“Echoing the hippie drumbeat, libertarians are certain that a) The establishment is relentlessly gunning for you”

Smoking and drinking also cause disease, pain, and suffering to those who indulge in these substances and to those who are exposed to those who indulge. Lets just ban cigarettes and alcohol while we are at it.

“c) The federal government was wrong to impose civil rights laws”
If they infringe on my right as a property/business owner, then yes, the government is wrong!

“and d) The war on dangerous, illicit drugs has failed, so let’s just legalize everything”

I love the fact that we shut Time_2 up on this subject. Reading what Time_2 writes tells us that he is afraid of individual liberty, which means he has no sense of personal responsibility. He needs the government to protect him as he does not have what it takes to protect himself. The best law that we could ever hope to get back to is common law where there is no crime unless there is an offended party. If a persons actions cause harm to another person or their property, there is a crime. It then has to be decided whether it is criminal (intentional harm) or civil (accidental harm). This is the way a free society should deal with the responsibility of individuals in my humble opinion.

Socially, I really do not care what you do as long as I (society) do not have to pay for it.
I do believe that libertarian views on foreign policy are based on the same fantasy that Obama labors under, i.e. if you leave people alone (libertarian) or “help” them and “talk” to them (Obama) they will come to love you. I call BS on that. They hate us because, 1. We are not Muslim. 2. We have things they do not have, both physical possessions and freedom, and 3. We are not Muslim.

Dmerwin, We are not against war, we are just against unconstitutional war. If a country is a threat or attacks us, and Congress, through the people, declares war, we go in hard, get the war over quickly, then come home. We watch our borders instead of other countries borders. If an ally asks for our help, again, if Congress declares war, we help. Powere of the people, not one person or administration. That is not being weak on defense. This is supposed to be a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

I recommend you boycott all of them. Then find out who the America-loving Christians are and support them. Trust me when I tell you…….that list is sadly much shorter. I refuse to support anything Hollyweird produces.

lol! That’s not nice, but, yes….and the Monster(s) that sent him to do the footwork.

I struggle with this. Didn’t help that Psalm 139 (verses 19-24) talks specifically about hatred for enemies of God. I don‘t think we’re supposed to be the pansies everybody thinks we should be.

Jones is getting more and more unhinged. He has never recovered from the castration he received from Glenn Beck.

Van Jones once again demonstrates his radical ideology and the uttermost insanity. This alone makes him very dangerous; above and beyond Obama, Van Jones is the ace in the hole Soros is preparing for the usage of after Kaiser Obama falls from political usefulness.
