‘Vast Majority’ of Improvised Explosives in Afghanistan Come From Pakistan

More bad news from the war in Afghanistan.
This summer saw the highest number of Improvised Explosives Devices (IEDs) detected or detonated against U.S. soldiers of any three month period in the ten-year-long Afghan war at 5,088. The homemade explosives killed 63 U.S. soldiers and wounded 1,234.
And a ‘vast majority’– 80%– of those explosives originated in neighboring Pakistan, according to U.S. military commanders quoted by USA Today.
The revelation comes on the heels of former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Admiral Mike Mullen, telling the world that Pakistani intelligence agencies directly supports the infamous Haqqani network.
In addition, the Afghan government has reportedly broken off direct negotiations with the Taliban, and instead Karzai is meeting with Pakistani leadership to discuss Afghan security.
With no end in sight to the war in Afghanistan, all eyes appear to be turning to Pakistan.

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 9:02pmAgain former CIA agent James Sexton is spreading rumors on this blog. US military commanders are not in Pakistan. They do not have any knowledge of whose homes the home made bombs they discover are assembled.

Posted on October 5, 2011 at 2:27amThe U.S. always plays both sides against the middle. That is one of the reasons the rest of the world hates us so much. So when other nations do it, too, we play offended and victimized.
Truth be known, if people knew about the behind the scenes (literally) sacrifice of American soldiers, resource and other resources, we’d be appalled. And government would be on trial. But, we’re ignorant. So the game goes on its merry way.

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 6:29pmThat’s very old news. Soldiers have been saying that the Pakis have been supporting the insurgency for years now. They’ve got training facilities right out in the open across the border training Taliban on bomb making, small unit tactics and what not. Where have you guys been? Try some “mil blogs” sometime. I suggest Blackfive to start… or maybe just CTRL F through wikileaks a couple times, sheesh.

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 2:09pmPakistan is a Muslim country and has been harboring and aiding Muslim extremists. I hope the next president (Perry?) will declare war on Pakistan and end their connection to Muslim extremists.

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 1:08pmI don’t normally condone isololationalism but I think our country really needs to heal. I am a former soldier and proud of our military but we simply can’t heal and maintain our military presence in the world. Time to let our allies shoulder more of the burden.

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 12:41pmIt is because of Obama’s lack of leadership that we are still in these countries and that our economy is so horrible. Look at what Peggy Noonan pointed out about Obama’s lack of leadership: http://www.americanparchment.com/video/2011/oct/noonan_obama_leader.html

But not now that government in Afghanistan is so corrupt they don’t care about the USA all they want is the cash we supply them most are starting to think the USA troops should get kicked out.
With Pakistan lying to and taking our money also it has become a bad situation for the US we need to get out we are getting played by the Afghanistan Government and the Pakistan Government.
Time to get out

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 11:48amOne factor, put simply_
The big problem is they’ve continued to implement Gen McCrytals plan with 30thousand less troops then requested, there’s just not enough troops to hold the ground.
Of course if it were up to me we’d pull out completely.
