Vid Shows SUV Mow Down 91-Year-Old Man at Miami Bus Stop

A 91-year-old man was hit by an SUV while waiting at a Miami bus stop Yesterday. Video of the incident, captured by a camera mounted on the bus, shows the SUV jumping the curb and plowing into the man who friends say was on his way to visit his wife who’s in a nursing home. The driver fled the scene of the accident and is still at large:

The man has several broken bones, including a broken pelvis and back, and is still in the hospital. Hospital officials say he is in critical condition and may not pull through.

    leaving the scene like that is pretty much as low as it gets. If you eff up, take responsibility. People will retain what little respect they could possibly have for you and you just might not get punished as severely if you just man up and take responsibility for your actions. I know that is a foreign concept in the USA these days but trust me it works.
    I really hope the old fella pulls through and can see his wife again. That’s no way to end 91 years on this earth.

    I was an accident reconstructionist for the Philadelphia Police Department for 16 years and rarely saw a person over the age of 65 recover from multiple broken bones. In Pa, this driver’s actions amount to murder. I hope the bastard is caught.

    I wonder how long it will be before the Democrats introduce a bill to limit the speed of vehicles. He did not need to be traveling over 3 mph! Or maybe limit the sale of cars and trucks to people who pass a background check. Cars kill more people than guns! Come on people, wake up! We need to stop these murderous vehicles from being so easily available to people who should never have them in the first place. I think we should ban all vehicles capable of traveling over 3 mph and driving over a curb. No one really needs to travel faster than a walk, anyway. Sound ridiculous? It is the same argument they use against gun ownership. Punish the real culprit: the driver and the shooters. Both of them are criminals who used an inanimate object to take a life.

    I’ve been told this is not completely that uncommon. If you drive in FL you see these you know whats jumping from lane to lane tailgating without paying attention. Changing lanes to change lanes sake.
    Oftentimes, since these people are aggressively driving at high speeds without paying attention to where they are changing lanes, they end up in a lane a few feet from a stopped bus. Options are to either ram the bus, or hop the sidewalk and mow everyone down.

    SUV was in a hurry, has places to be. Life is meaningless for these dopes.

    Criminals are roaming our streets all day and all night with these deadly weapons. Why would anyone need such destructive devices that have one one purpose… to kill large amounts of people in a short period of time!

    Convicted criminals and children have too easy access to vehicles. I demand my Senators Boxer and Finstien pass rational laws to restrict access to these deadly devices, and hold accountable the owners of these devices who failed to properly secure them, in the case of theft.

    The first thing we need is a national background check requirement, followed by a ten day waiting period. Then we need to mandate a DNA sampling device installed in the drivers seat… sure, it will be a pain in the ass, but what price won’t we pay for our safety?

    Then we should require all gas purchasers to provide a fingerprint, so we can insure that no sale of gasoline is made to Felons or gang members. Same goes for vehicle tires, which will have unique identifying marks which can be traced back to it’s original purchaser.

    Finally, we need to hold accountable both the manufacturers of these devices, and the owners if they fail to properly secure them. I think DOJ certified vehicle “safes” should be mandatory. Sure, they are 20ft long and 10 feet wide, but what price for the safety of our children?

    For the old man:
    The 23 Psalm

    The LORD Is My Shepherd
    A Psalm of David.

    The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
    He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
    He leadeth me beside the still waters.
    He restoreth my soul:
    He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
    Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
    thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
    Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
    Thou anointest my head with oil;
    my cup runneth over.
    Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
    and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

    How sad to live your life to the ripe old age of 91 and have it possibly end at the hands of a coward, who leaves you there to die. How do you explain this to his poor wife who probably looks forward to his daily visits. Prayers for all involved that this is a good end.

      Agree with you, the driver of the SUV is a coward for fleeing the scene; I have asked my friends to pray as well.

      Good morning Grandmaof5; just got my tea this morning ready a new blend of wintermint with a touch of apple cinnamon added, hopefully it will be good; as long as I can keep my cat away from it. She has developed a fondness for tea to the extreme lately.

      Agree GRANDMA. Almost as bad as when I read of someone in their 80s-90s(or any age) raped, robbed and killed. Living that old, bobbing and weaving lifes paths…and then end up dying in a stupid gruesome idiotic way.

      More than a coward. In fact calling him a coward gives a bad name to cowards. He is a felon! … and the roads were not even icy. We’ve had our own batch of felons in Texas lately who drive 60mph in an ice storm. Surprise! they are taken to jail – not for speeding (a misdem) but for reckless endangerment (a felony). More jail time for stupid.

      What is most surprising is that he left his vehicle which is registered. He had to have been drunk or just out right preoccupied.

      By the way, the SUV was on auto pilot trying to destroy the planet, or that’s what Gore would want you to believe.

      I think all Cars and Trucks should be illegal… If not we could always put smaller gas tanks and smaller engines into cars/trucks. That way they can’t go as fast or as far. Makes it easier for others to stop the driver if something like this happens. After all CARS & TRUCKS DO KILL PEOPLE.

      Oh wait that was the same argument the leftest idiots made about guns and the AZ gunman. It’s not the Cars/Trucks/Guns, it’s when freaking idiots using them to do something stupid.

      @JEDI.KEP

      That’s my point – the article says the SUV did it, not a driver. For all we know, the SUV grew a mind of its own and the driver is competely helpless and ran in fear.

      If it was a regular sedan involved, the print would say that a motorist hit the man, not an SUV. But since it’s an eeevil gas-guzzling SUV, that has to be pointed out. :)
