Four NYC Cops Stripped of Their Badges After Bloody Fight With Suspect

Four NYPD cops have been stripped of their guns and badges and pulled from the streets after a civilian video popped up on the internet showing them getting rough with a drug suspect, according to the New York Times.
The Bronx District Attorney’s office and the Internal Affairs bureau of the NYPD told the Times the incident was under investigation.
The beating of the suspect, Jateik Reed, 19, occurred last Thursday afternoon after police claim Reed threw a baggy of crack on the ground and resisted arrest. Mr. Reed was charged with assaulting a police officer, drug possession, menacing and harassment.
The clip cuts in as the police have already begun to escalate their usage of force, making it difficult to establish the context of their actions. The Times noted, however, that court papers described the moment before the incident as follows:
“When another officer… approached Mr. Reed, he flailed his arms, refusing to be handcuffed, punched [an] Officer… in the nose, opening a wound that required stitches, and head-butted him in the cheek.”
The officers can be heard to yell repeatedly “put your hands behind your back” and “stop resisting.” The suspect appeared to be kicking out a leg as officers took him to the ground.
A police officer then turned and pointed a bottle of pepper spray at the civilian wielding the camera phone and yelled “get back.”

Just a few decades ago in the U.S, the police did not hesitate to knock the snot out of people who got stupid. back in the day, drunk and disorderly meant you got thumped by the police, and the fine was however much money was in your wallet. A hundred years ago and some change, we hung folks for stealing horses.
In the military wall to wall counseling was common back then also.
We were less communist/socialist as a nation in the 50s than we are today. For some reason, we have a media and bleading heart libs that always want to run to the side of the criminal.
this dudes was selling crack, he was not some poor citizen standing on the sidewalk in East Germany. The cops were doing their job. He threw the crack, he punched a cop in the face, then head butted the cop. Fighting is not something you just turn on and off like a light switch. Sometimes, cops fight for their own lives they have the same fight or flight instinctis that the rest of us have, and the same adreneline rushes through them. You never know when that thug selling crack is going to pull out the 9mm and start blasting away – it happens.
they hit him in the body with the sticks, got in under control, then cuffed him.
Save the bleeding heart stuff for someone else, I aint buying it.

I don’t know this man, I don’t know what he did that made the cops feel the need to place him under arrest. Needless to say, the cops (who do have authority) said put your hands behind your back. You don’t do that, you’re going to pay the consequences. I saw him resisting an officer, I guess I can say he’s a criminal.
By the by, I would have listened to the KGB. Especially since I don’t want a 9mil in my head. Contrary to what occupiers think there are actual ways to peacefully protest, but the more they drag us on the path we’re on, the less we’ll be able to peacefully protest.

Posted on February 1, 2012 at 2:41pmSon, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. We call them police officers. Who’s gonna do it? You? You, Cry Baby Liberal? The police have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for this skell, and you curse the police. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what they know. That skell’s injury, while tragic, probably saved lives, even his own. And the police’s existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don‘t want to believe that truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want the police on that wall, you need the police on that wall. The police use words like honor, code, loyalty. They use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. The police have neither the time nor the inclination to explain themselves to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom and protection that they provide, and then questions the manner in which it is provided. They would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, they don’t give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

Posted on February 1, 2012 at 3:15pm@BIGG, so in your mind due process means that the police can’t make a warrant-less arrest? Or that they’re not allowed to use force when arresting someone who resisted arrest with violence, splitting the officer’s face open? Is there any evidence that he was not seen by a judge and read his charges within 24 hours? Is their any evidence that he was denied his right to counsel prior to questioning while in custody? Why don’t you educate your self on what due process means before you throw those terms around and look like a fool.
These officers acted appropriately. The sissy commissioner put them on ice because of the race thing, they did nothing wrong.

He’s free game until the handcuffs go on, his stupid choice. He is old enough to know better, and got exactly what he wanted, a fight.

Posted on February 1, 2012 at 7:08pmLove this comment. I am a Navy Reservist and a Deputy Sheriff and as an LEO when a crime takes place you have the obligation to make the arrest. If the person will not comply you escalate your force to the amount necessary to execute the arrest. It may not always be pretty but this man was a criminal who had already assaulted LEOs. All he had to do to make it stop was comply with the lawful commands of the officers on scene.

When the police want you to lay down and put your hands behind your back you do it. Their lives are at risk. I heard the police yelling at the idiot to put his hands behind his back–if you don’t want to get to get a smackdown, then follow their orders. After your arrest you have the right to a lawyer and due process takes place. The police don’t mess around for a reason–one mistake and they could be dead.

Apparently that all depends on the particular officer instead of the actual law:
———————————————————————
“In 1991, George Holliday filmed the LAPD’s arrest and beating of Rodney King. The videotape provoked national controversy. If a similar incident happened today, it might provoke something else: the arrest of George Holliday.
Cell phones and cameras with video-recording capability have become ubiquitous. This has led to an increase in the filming of police officers, which has led to a backlash: Cops have begun arresting those who film them, on charges such as interfering with an investigation—even when the filmer is not interfering and the officer is not investigating.”

That same officer would be thanking that citizen for having the camera phone, if it were he (the officer) who was being beat up, and he (the officer) needed the video as evidence for court.

Posted on February 1, 2012 at 2:28pmWhat choice do the police have when they are confronted by people everyday who have no respect for anything including themselves. Love is quickly leaving this world being replaced by hate. The hate from the “criminal” is met by the hate from the police. The best think anyone can do when confronted by the police is to do what you are told. If you are falsely arrested then fight it in the courts. Do not fight the police or you will be beaten, tazed, pepper-sprayed, or shot. This is just how it is in modern day “civilized” America.
Report Post »Liberty has turned into license. The idea of personal freedom has turned into “Do what thou wilt, shall be the whole of the law”, this phrase is one from Aliester Crowley who is a known satanist and witch from the late 1800‘s and early 1900’s. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi4D_Rru-yE
What better explains this moral decay we see today than a focus on self, selfishness, and a lack of love for others.
Finally, 27And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. Luke 10:27
Notice this scripture does not mention to love yourself. This is because in our fallen natures we already love ourselves, our focus is on self. Love God. Love People. This is counter to our fallen sinful natures. The only way to truly defeat this self love is to put on the full armor of God. Ephesians 6:10-18
