You have to be tough to play center. Josh Koeppel is pretty darn tough. But he will miss the season opener due to “a lot of scrapes.”

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 7:28pmLooks like info about the vid was placed below the vid. Could’ve sworn there was nothing there when I first saw the vid. Oh well great vid. Thank God that Mr. Koeppel is doing ok. Typical tough midwestern fellow.

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 7:24pmThat player was sure a lucky young man. It looked like he had the right of way and the trucker just turned in front of him. If the sun was in his eyes, he (the truck driver) should have worn sunglasses and or used his sun shade. I’m sure he was cited in this accident. I also think a short summary of the video would have been helpful. If I hadn’t read the comments, I wouldn‘t have known the young man’s name or the position he played.

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 3:54pmIf you look at the shadows, you’ll see that the sun was likely in the eyes of the pick-up driver. We can never look too carefully for motorcycles.

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 3:23pmGood Heavens!! I can’t believe he GOT UP!! Talk about the grace of God! As an Iowan (and Hawkeye fan), I can attest to our stubbornness, but this is just amazing!

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 3:07pmExcerpt from the article:
‘The Daily Iowan reported that Koeppel was hit head-on by a truck while on his moped on Monday, but walked away with minor injuries that Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz described as “a lot of scrapes.”
Koeppel was battling Ferentz’s son James, a sophomore, for the starting center position. ‘…….
I think we can work with this……….

Consider a text story summarizing video content. Some of my friends say the video only format is off-putting, and others don’t have access to video at work.
Thanks,

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 2:11pmI found an article that had the coach talking about how most of the team has mopeds, and that’s what he was riding – a moped that looked like a small motorcycle.

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 2:08pmI am a proud Iowan and that kid is Iowa tough – and smart – he did have a helmet on. You can see it come flying off and you can see his friend who arrives on the scene just after the accident has the same kind of helmet on. Hawkeyes are golden.

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 7:57amActually, he was wearing a helmet. You can see it come flying off during the accident, then laying on the road. Thank God he’s ok. A few more MPH with either one of them it could have been a different story. As safe as motorcylce drivers can be, there is still the fact that so many people just don’t see them, aren’t looking for them, and pull in front of them.

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 2:08pmHe lost a shoe, too… I think the driver of truck should be cited and have his license suspended. According to the Hurt Report (I’m not kidding) in 1980, that exact type of accident, turning left in front of a motorcyle, accounts for more multi vehicle motorcycle fatalities than any other single cause.

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 5:32amNo helment? Would he play football with no helment? I remember another dumb football QB that didn’t wear a helment while in a motorcycle crash and now he is sexually harassing women. Brain damage maybe? No, just stupidity and irresponsibility run amock…

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 7:05pmIt‘s ’helmet” – not “helment”

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 9:23pmYes it was his fault for no helmet it seems, open season I guess. Hope you have yours on in your car also.

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 3:51amDude was lucky…. and stupid. This is why you don’t wear shorts and light clothing when on a motorcycle…. and no helmet? Dumb move.
EyeofthePatriot
Posted on September 2, 2010 at 10:08pmSeems to me he WAS wearing a helmet. Next time why don’t you mention the person who truly was at FAULT for the accident instead of ragging on the victim. I assume you watched the video right?…
