Yet More Video Released of ‘Kony 2012’ Filmmaker’s Nude Tirade

The Blaze reported Friday that “Kony 2012” filmmaker Jason Russell was detained by police in San Diego for lewd acts, including being drunk, nude and masturbating in public. Following the incident, Russell’s organization “Invisible Children” released a statement saying that “The past two weeks have taken a severe emotional toll on all of us, Jason especially, and that toll manifested itself in an unfortunate incident yesterday.”

TMZ posted video Sunday of Russell’s nude tirade on a San Diego street corner in the middle of the day that shows an emotional breakdown to say the least:
The New York Post notes that Russell’s wife, Danica, said Friday that her husband “did some irrational things brought on by extreme exhaustion and dehydration,” and denied that alcohol or drug use played a role in the outburst. Russell was not arrested but detained by SDPD at the time, and TMZ reports that Russell “won’t be charged … but he has been placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold.”
Invisible Children’s 30-minute pseudo-documentary “Kony 2012” has attracted widespread media attention and over 82 million views on Youtube. The video calls for the capture of the Ugandan LRA leader Joseph Kony, whose guerrilla group is known for kidnapping and torturing the African country’s innocent children.

His team insists that Russell’s outburst was due to exhaustion and dehydration, however, a source close to his inner circle has come forward claiming that Russell’s inability to come out as a gay man has pushed him over the edge. Supposedly Russell comes from a very Christian background and for that reason would be ostracized for coming out. The source also claims that the Invisible Children charity works with various anti-gay groups.

And who gives a crap what their parents think of them anymore? Television and the media have seen to it that no one does. The man’s probably feeling guilt crashing in on him because people are starting to conclude correctly that this whole Kobe 2012 thing is a fraud, so he got wasted and acted like a fool.

Posted on March 19, 2012 at 7:42amThe minute I heard about this I guessed bi-polar. I have a couple of friends with bi-polar and they all react a little differently to their illness, but crazed, manic behavior is not out of the question.
I suspect that excited about the success of his video he stopped taking his meds and this is the end result.
I watched the KONY 2012 video and then checked out “the rest of the story,” etc. My overall impression of the video and the filmmaker is that this is a man who loves his son. It seems clear in the video that his son loves him dearly. As such all I can say is that I hope he gets well.

The POTUS realized that the U.S. public didn’t know who Kony is so, taking him out now wouldn’t give him the bump in the polls he needs. They orchestrate this big media campaign in order to create a new “public enemy #1″ and then right before the election, Obama gives the order to take him out. He gets the same bump in the polls that he got after the Bin Laden take down and he wins reelection.

Kony is a bad guy. Sooner or later he needs to go. But in the greater scheme of things can he do us more harm than Iran, North Korea of China? The order you solve problems is important.
Romney should make an issue of Obama thumping his chest with pride bagging Kony (a C class) problem while leaving the A class problems like China, Iran & North Korea on the table.

Posted on March 19, 2012 at 9:39amHaving not seen the other Kony 2012 articles at the time they were originally posted, I confess to be a little incredulous at the attitude of some of those commenting here. Someone in an earlier article dismissed the whole Joseph Kony story as being an obvious left-wing conspiracy since he had never heard about these atrocities before. I would think by now that one would be used to the idea that the media doesn’t tell you everything. I first heard about Kony and the LRA about 7 years ago, and the story was no less gruesome then.
Report Post »Yes, the filmmaker seems to be battling some hefty personal demons, but I question those that point to his apparent breakdown here as reason to disregard the story about Kony. About a decade ago, Rush Limbaugh admitted to being addicted to pain killers. That fact is routinely used by his critics to detract and dismiss his message. I, however, continue to listen to and value Limbaugh’s message and see his addiction as signs of an all too human problem. I would think Mr. Russell here might deserve the same courtesy.

A person can have legitimate concerns about the Kony 2012 campaign, but the vicious response to the incident highlights that we are really in trouble as a nation.
