Let me start by saying I lived in Colorado for a little bit. And I lived on a hill. This came close to happening on more than one occasion. Once you start watching the cars pile up on this Colorado Springs street, you just can’t stop (WARNING: Contains cussing):

Posted on January 1, 2011 at 9:59pmMaybe they can use some of the unused stimulus money to have plows actually salt and sand roads that are KNOWN to be dangerous when snow/ice covered?? I guess they would rather spend it on new storm drains that are NOT even connected to something??? Gotta love it…..

Posted on January 1, 2011 at 9:19pmMy sons friends filmed this street also with their cell phones. That day our weather went from 45 degrees light rain and snow to single digit within hours and of course it turned to ice. Obviously these people just thought that it was only the others that couldn’t get up the street but that they could. Bad tires, ice sheet and no traction = ice rink. I am surprised that here in (Colorado) where this happens often, these people forgot this. Better to take a different route or wait for the sand trucks.

Posted on January 1, 2011 at 9:03pmNope, they have 4-wheel drive and think they can drive better than all the other drivers piled up together at the bottom of the hill. See it every storm. Hey flatlanders, know your skills before venturing out.

Posted on January 1, 2011 at 10:41pmI think, you have to know the roads well when you travel in your city, and avoid them, especially in the winter after i‘ts snowed and especially when it’s really cold. We have our problems here too with hills, which I avoid at all costs if the roads are slick in winter.. Our city used to ‘Gravel’ everywhere, and then sweep up in the spring. Now, they use what we call ‘Pea Salt’, but it’s worse than ever, because it works to a point and then just freezes, causing the roads to be even more slippery. I wish they would go back to the good ole days of pea gravel, it may cost a little more, but the savings in insurance costs to drivers would be worth it. Cheaper is not always better in the long run.

Posted on January 1, 2011 at 8:23pm“Hey! There are out of control trucks and cars sliding down the hill. Let’s go play in the street!”
Report Post »That incline doesn’t look that steep… This is why I avoid driving in the snow as much as possible. Then again, there are people who HAVE to be out in weather like this… not because they need anything, but to figuratively swing their junk around. These are usually the same people who have truck nuts and believe that being out in dangerous road conditions makes him/her a cut above. Well, be prepared to be made another insurance statistic.
Ha! Man-made global warming and climate change… we will alway be nature’s bitch. Left or right, there are times when the planet reminds us we are at its mercy (or lack thereof). What was learned here? Yakety sax makes anything funnier!

Posted on January 1, 2011 at 8:14pmI am from Colorado, and I would wager that at least half of those nincompoops were immigrants from California. We used to say often that the most dangerous thing in Colorado was a Californian in a four-wheel drive.

Posted on January 1, 2011 at 8:22pmAbsolutely!!! I live on the Western Slope of Colorado, and we just prefer that idiots like those in the video just stay home and off the roads. My belief is that “a steady foot will get you there”. Slow down and stay off the breaks. I’ve lived here 45 years, and I’ve never been involved in something like this….Praise the Lord….

Posted on January 1, 2011 at 7:43pmThe problem with brakes is that they only stop the wheels. Somebody needs to invent brakes that stop the car too, so that people can drive as fast as they want in this kind of weather.
