Video Shows ‘Spider-Man‘ Stunt Double’s 30 Ft. Fall

Video has now surfaced showing a stunt double in the Broadway “Spider Man” show falling 30 feet after his harness rope snapped during a performance:

The cable to stunt man Christopher Tierney’s harness snapped during a scene in which Spider-Man rescues his love interest, Mary Jane, one of the show’s performers told the AP. It was unclear if Tierney was properly harnessed when the cable snapped. The performer said the show’s actors are responsible for hooking themselves up to harnesses used for aerial stunts.

Mariana Leung, a fashion blogger wrote on the website NearSay.com that she witnessed the accident from the front row of the balcony.

“There was a scream,” Leung wrote. “A voice yelled, ‘Someone call 911!’ Then there was a silence. A minute later, the stage was still dark. Then there was an announcement that the show would be delayed. A few minutes later, a second announcement that the performance would not continue. The lights came up.”

“All signs were good as he was taken to the hospital for observation,” a show spokesman said.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Reminds me of the guy who jumped off the Empire state building and lived to tell about it, He told every one on every floor on the way down! It was a neat trick, but he could only do it once!

That’s it! Clearly we need congress to pass a new law that regulates that stunt actors must wear protective headgear. Where is the government when you need it?

And the actors are reponsible for hooking themselves up? Doesn’t this take away a Union Job? Why isn’t there a Union “****** upperer” on staff to make sure its done properly?

I think there is a certain amount of irony when people who play super hero’s get hurt. Such as the most famous “Superman”, ending up in a wheel chair. But if you look back in history of other plays and movies you will find a almost freaky coalition between the subject and mishaps. Spoooooooky

He was a stunt man. It comes with the territory.
By the way, Cobra, Spiderman could never fly. He swings through the city on webs from his web-shooters.
Capt.-Spiders appear to fly, but actually float on a thread of spider’s silk. That’s how most of their young travel away from their nest.

The only flying spider is, “The Pelosi Spider”. Now if you didn’t know, these spiders are very venomous. But that is not the worst part, the worst part is, this spider has learned to talk. When it talks the noise that it makes, “if listen to too long”, turns your brains to mush. Now there is a good thing here, and that is this spider is only found in one part of the world, and where this spider resides it doesn’t matter, because the people that live there have no brains anyway. My advise is to stay clear of this spider, and do not, I repeat, do not! swallow any of the cool aid this spider spews from it’s horns..

As for the female media person, whoa to her for laughing. This is what they (phony libs/dems/progs) look like when they drop their silly masks just for a minute. Matt called her on it! I’m sorry, but I disagree with you. This man was an actor performing in front of a live audience, he could have been killed. I believe he deserves just as much media coverage as the stupid people we have running our country. I pray he will recover and be able to perform once again. May God Bless.

Sorry, but his actions affect him and him ALONE. As I said, terrible for HIM. The actions of the socialists & the commies affect 308 MILLION Americans. They are ruining our way of life. Fortunes are being lost. Businesses are failing. Freedom is being lost.

On a 1 person to 308 million persons ratio, my vote goes for the 308 million. The mainstream media has failed us and is failing us. Miserably.

However, they do manage to cover the latest entertainment news or the latest human errors or disasters quite nicely.

The country going to hell in a handbasket isn’t a secret. There is no need to cover it 24/7/365. In fact it’s counterproductive to do so. People get fatigued at obssesive coverage and tune it out. They can only listen to the same arguments about the same issues so many times before they start to ignore you completely.

I agree with Rowgue. I stop listening to most stories after a few days unless there is something TRULY new to say. I get sick of media attention on one story for too long. They are other things to cover – unless someone is trying to divert attention from something else going on.

Spider-Man never could fly. Originally, neither did Superman. (Never really discussed later.) Both are just jumping very far because of their strength. Plus, Spider-Man was only jumping up far then swinging from his web.

…and yes, I know you were joking.
