Al Aan, a Dubai-based pan-Arab television channel that focuses on women’s issues, said it had obtained cellphone footage that it says shows a woman being executed because she was seen out with a man. The killing reportedly took place two months ago and was smuggled out by a Taliban member who attended the stoning, according to Al Aan. ABC News could not independently confirm the cellphone video’s authenticity.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 5:43amThe penalty of stoning women accused of adultery, under Islamic law and as written in the Haddiths, was practiced by the Prophet Mohammad himself. This is the Religion of Peace as practiced under Sharia (Islamic) law. It is still practiced today by Shi’ite and Sunni Muslims. It goes without saying that any woman involved with Islam should read the Koran and Haddiths completely.

I have often wondered where NOW is, the UN, Amnesty International or Hillary on these abuses? Where are all the people who support various groups….I know this isn’t their thing but where is PETA – Green Piece – NOW – the Churches. How can a family & community be so cruel to one of their own and call it a religion of peace. I am glad I am a Christian, my God would not condone such behavior from me in his name. And tho Christians haven’t always done right, they do learn. How can a society move forward that can’t learn and have compassion. They are born to fight. There will be a price to pay now or later for this behavior.

http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Foreign-Policy/2010/0810/Hillary-Clinton-to-Iran-stop-using-death-penalty-so-much
PETA just doesn’t give a damn about humans, the Churches are working to improve things through their missionaries. Even Muslims are against stoning:
http://www.progressivemuslims.org/sub/stoning.htm
But you cannot stop millennia old practices that predate Christianity or Islam or Buddhism in a day.
As I said: Stoning predates Islam. It’s an old custom in those parts of the world. A terrible custom, yes, but the Quran took the stoning punishment from already existing customs, not the other way around.
And about Christians: Christians in Africa are busy accusing others of witchcraft and killing them as I write this. This is not Christianitys fault, but stonings aren’t Islams fault either. It’s old customs and religious fanatism. These things tend to stop with enough education and most of all better living situations.

I had a chance to read through the ka’ran, not word for word, but a good understanding of the writer and the history. I don’t see it as holy, but slavery. It starts out with some of the teachings of Christ and with some ten commandment laws and about half way through Mohammed changes gears (I‘m guessing he didn’t like having to go back and attack a people he defeated once) to some of the Jewish (stoning and eye for an eye) and Pagan punishments. It’s either Mohammed way or death.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 5:28amIf we would live in a Christian theocracy where the bible would REALLY be used as a basis for the law (a Christian sharia if you will), it wouldn’t look much different here. And I think that’s what Mrbutcher is trying to say:
“If a man is found sleeping with another man’s wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die.” (Deuteronomy 22: 22)
“If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife-with the wife of his neighbor-both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death” (Leviticus 20: 10)
Before you say that these quotes are from the old testament/old covenant, remember that people still refer to Leviticus to support their hatred of homosexuality.
The difference is that we’re living in a very advanced and (relatively) safe society while they’re living in terrible conditions brought upon them by decades of terrible decisions, tribalism, oppression, exploitation and lack of progress. Poor countries tend to be more fanatical in their religions. Or did you know that in Africa, Christians are killing other Christians for being witches? Heard that one before?

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 8:32amMrButcher,
Any institution given too much power will, by its very nature, be corrupted, whether it be religion, government or anything else. This is exactly why the Tea Party movement, which espouses limited government, is so important. It is through the limitation of government that the corruption and the abuses of power will be contained.
Smugsmiley,
To minimize the killing of this person and so many others based on a concept of ‘cultural relevance’ (for lack of a better term) is a disgrace…especially when one realizes that these events take place in modernized portions of the Middle East and even here in the West (ref: honor killings).
I would argue that many religions have evolved (pardon my use of that term) over time and are far less likely to allow similar abuses. In addition, in America we do have a ‘separation of Church and State’ (more apologies) which is designed primarily to protect religion from the government, but also (to a lesser degree) the reverse. By maintaining a degree of separation between the two, we also limit and balance the power; when the two are combined, especially when the Government is large, death will always follow.
This is not to say that we should be anti-religious; quite the opposite is true. The only thing more frightening to me than religion dominated by Big Government would be an atheistic Big Government. Without any moral compass, without higher guiding principles, the potential atrocities are staggering (reference Communism: 100 million+ killed and counting).
Islam is far different from Judaism or Christianity on many different levels and I do not have the time or inclination to delve into it here.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 10:18amSadly, all religions even our own have made historical blunders in the name of morality. The Spanish inquistion. Witches in the late 1600′s. No matter the case it always stems from some form of control. The most critical point is that it is very dangerous to have the morality of society controlled by a government.
This is where the left is. They promote control through some sense of morality. And those who oppose are merely enimies of that morality.
History is always a better guide to what will happen. Where are the organizations that should be crying out over this? Well they cannot say anything because even if they do not agree with the delivery, they do agree with the premise of state or small group control of morality.
I have been to many third world countries. These places have a poorly educated majority that are fed fundimentals and extreme views of their government and their religion. It is a cycle that has been going on for centuries. And even though it is sad and it makes my christian heart burn, we cannot change it from a christian perspective.
Afganistan is the most perverse in it’s strangle on the ideas of Islam. The stranglehold is so strong that there will never be a contry, or religion who can change it’s course. The russians have tried and failed. We have tried and will or have failed.
I pray for our soldiers, I pray for our leaders. But we are fighting a loosing battle. Never to win, only to suffer the losses and humiliation of a cause proven to be a loser. The best thing would be to just pack and go. But, for those who are out there who believe you can change the hearts and minds of these people I ask you this question.
If the Islamists came here and tried to stop our religion(which in thier belief they are doing here) even as peaceful in nature as we are, how would you respond? These people are believers of their faith. It is not a battle for land, resources, or power. This is a battle for the souls of a people who believe. Just as I would say good luck trying to stop Christianity. I would say good luck trying to stop Islam.
I would say the Christians would fight to the death to defend our religion, whay would we not expect them to do the same. It is sad to see the way they practice from the eyes of Christianity. But, sincerely from their eyes they would be sad through the eyes of Islam not to see it happen.
