‘Vile and Inappropriate Language’: Ed Schultz Records Video Apology to Laura Ingraham

Washington Post:

Ed Schultz issued a public apology to talk-show host Laura Ingraham at the start of his nightly MSNBC show Wednesday night.

“I used vile and inappropriate language,” he said before handing over the hour to substitute co-host Thomas Roberts as he began what called an “indefinite” suspension. “It was wrong, uncalled for, and I recognize the severity of what I said.”

On his syndicated radio show Tuesday, Schultz referred to Ingraham as a “right-wing slut” and “talk slut.” After the incident blew up Wednesday, MSNBC announced Schultz would take an unpaid week of leave.

Listening to Ed has always made me sad. Reading these posts makes me sad, too. It is easier for evil people to pull you down to their level than it is for good people to pull evil people up. Looks like Laura, a beautiful person inside and out, has managed to pull Ed up. Power to Laura! Let’s all be careful not to let Ed pull us down. Let Laura pull us up!

I like many here just have to say “this is just too little too late” at this point with the bomb throwers but at least he got out there and humbled himself a little bit. Others have done far less for saying or doing equally if not more vile attacks, I’ll give him that.

it wasn’t that bad of an apology. It‘s the most humble I’ve seen this idiot.

Agreed – he seemed sincere, but I doubt it will last…

When I tuned in the show (a semi-annual event in my house, the last time was around the “One Nation Rally”), my first thought was that he was going for a Glenn Beck-style opening, then he said someone else was taking over his show…

Saying things about other people without anyone slowing him down is what led to this. Mabe he will rethink some of the words he uses.Words have meaning and consequences. That said, knowing Laura from listening to her for years, I believe she will accept it and so should we. We can all get caught up in the moment and say something we regret, and Christians know to be forgiven, we have to forgive, everbody. Toughest rule given in my book. Have to work on that one a lot.

Nope, no issues. I know exactly my own emotions and where they’re directed. And why.

If you want to play pop-psych with me, using trendy terms in a real game, you should expect to lose. I’ve forgotten more psychology toys than most lay people will ever know.

Let’s take your accusation, for example. You claim I have ‘issues’. Generally, people who claim such a thing are a little bit scared of their own selves. They see, in others who are being open, the things they fear to reveal.

Among such people–like you–anger is a ‘bad’ thing. Well, hotshot, if you want to delegitimize your emotions, don’t impose your neuroses on me. I’m comfortable with myself. Your horror of being yourself doesn’t lock me in a box; you’re not God.

      __________________
Sometimes, you p*ssywimp, it NEEDS a baseball bat across someone else’s head.

Here’s the definition of stress, p*ssy: “Stress is when someone else (like your wife or boss) interferes with your brain’s desire to beat the sh*t out of some frackhole who has it coming.”
      __________________

Knowing where your emotions are directed is hardly reason enough to discount that you really do seem to have some anger issues.

And no, I don’t have a problem with anger. I’d have no problem unleashing hell with a baseball bat on someone who breaks into my house with intent to do harm to my family. Ed Schultz, however, uses a few ill-chosen words and your response is to go Al Capone on him — not to mention your response to those who actually choose to exercise some restraint, attacking them as “p*ssywimps”. Yeah, you may know to whom your anger is directed at and why, but I doubt you’re in control of it.

On the other hand, you’ve forgotten more psychology than most people will ever learn, so I guess I’ve been put in my place!

I don’t like Schultz one bit but the guy gave a clear and concise apology that lasted 3 minutes long. He could have easily cut it off at 15 or 20 seconds but he went the extra mile. Whether it was coerced or not really isn‘t the point and I don’t see how anyone on here can judge whether he even meant it or not. Do you know his heart??
He said things like “the lowest of lows for me”. Saying things like that are not necessary unless you truly feel bad about your actions. Like I said.. I don’t like Schultz, but you gotta give the guy a little credit for this.

I can’t stand the guy, he has plenty of other vile things that he should apologize for (not sure why this comment triggered one), and I am not convinced he will change his ways — but, he did man-up, face the camera and deliver a straight-up apology (with a little rambling nonsense) and I give him credit for that.

I am glad that MSNBC has taken him off the air, at least for a while. If we cannot have civil conversations where we can discuss our opinions, we have lost the essence of what this country was built upon. I believe his apology was real, but time will tell. Hopefully, he means what he said, that his words would never be repeated again. While those words should never be used, neither should the personal attacks be allowed! All of us need to step back and realize we are NOT gods, we are ONLY Human. We ALL make mistakes and we ALL have opinions. History should direct where we go as a nation. I believe that the fundamentals of history are being blatantly overlooked by the far-left and we are repeating history under Obama. If this does not stop and if we don’t reverse our paths, we WILL lose our nation. May God Bless our Nation and our Right to Freedom of Speech, as long as it is done under civil discourse.

I still don’t like the guy, but I will respect his decision to apologize very deeply and sincerely. It’s not up to me to judge his heart, but as far as I can judge from his speech and tone of voice and facial expressions, he seemed to be truly ashamed. Like others have said already, he didn’t give any of this “I’m sorry if you got offended” crap, he actually took responsibility for his own words. I give him the benefit of the doubt. He still has to face the penalty of his actions, but him asking forgiveness is a big step in the right direction. It’s what we should all do when we mess up…and we all do.

WE ARE AMERICANS being threatened by everyone outside and from the inside too. These “smoke screen” moments have to stop. At this point, I won’t let a CODE PINK type even come up my driveway, but I have to change on that score and we all have to remember that we are FIRST OF ALL AMERICANS.

KICK the dividers like NANCY PELOSI out of office. KICK OUT THE GUTLESS WONDERS who can’t tell the AMERICAN people things like “PAUL RYAN is NOT TRYING TO KILL Medicare. HE’s trying to SAVE IT”…. Adults know that when the well runs dry, you can’t prime the pump….we have to fix it while we still can. These programs should start being fixed by enforcing the laws we have on the books now and prosecuting the fraud. I see so much of it in the medical field. That’s for starters. Then this PELOSI (again that woman) nonsense of letting her PALS get waivers is disgusting. The time for non-Patriots and One-Worlders and ANTI-AMERICANS is over. If I was Laura I would tear into him regardless esp after this empty apology. Days of playing nice are over and in this case receiving and accepting an apology. Even though its directed towards Ingraham, its an assault on all of us who share similar views IMO. You disagree? I don‘t like much that I’ve heard from Mr. Schultz, and I seldom like his nasty tone. He‘s trying to be someone he isn’t, and it isn’t working. His frustration boiled over, and the hate came out. I imagine even he was surprised he said that on the air. He’s probably said it many times in private, with his buddies, his crew, but never on the air. I hope everyone will accept his apology, and continue not listening to his program.

Yes I did, it doesnt matter what he is saying now. Actions speak louder than words his actions of the past are those of an angry uncontrollable individual. I dont care how much of this “I am sorry act” ppl fall for. Its an ACT, anyone here would do it when your family, job etc are all threatened by your big mouth/actions. He even hints to it by saying he loves working there…. who hasnt been threatened on the job to “fix it” or else? Huh, who? Cmon lets get real enough of the games. Thats all I see here a game, an act, he will be clean for a while then back off the wagon, its his nature.

Please guys dont fall for this. Too many are falling for this, that its “sincere” and “feel for the guy”… give me a break!

He is a vile stinking man. He always goes too far in my opinion and should apoligize after each segment. I never even knew the man existed until he started ranting about Beck and they put him on here. But he did need to apoligize for calling her a “Slut”, Do I think he meant his apology? I think he is sorry that they have come down on him like that and they would not have probably without all the calls and emails. But she will accept his apology because it is the right thing to do. But no I do not think he is sorry. You can get away with a lot of things but calling a woman a SLUT or Whore or some of the other words is still unacceptable in our society. It is about the only thing that has been perserved as being taboo.

SCHULTZ only apologized when half the country came down on him. OOOPS… Miss Laura has a great following and doesn’t deserve to be treated (Nor does any woman) with this type of flippant, childish disrespect. Conservatives don‘t need to ask for boycott’s or to have someone removed from an anchor position. We just have to wait for the demolibersocialcommies to just let some of what they really think slip out and they dig their own grave. I would never take an apology from Ed Schultz’s becasue you know he meant what he said and he is only apologizing to appease management at PMSNBC. Maybe there is some room at Al Gore’s new network. He could be reunited with Keith Olbermann and complete their circle of vitriol and hate.

Sometimes living a hate filled, angry, and vile life towards others can humble a person when it gets too intense. Ed’s anger/hatred has been getting out of control for many years. Evil speech has a way of bringing you down to a level where when you finally open your eyes and can clearly see what a disgrace you have allowed yourself to become…..it hurts. Yea, I know he was forced to make the apology on his show, but I did sense some brokeness and humility there. I just hope it lasts past the time he stepped away from the camera shot !!!! If you cannot forgive a man who makes a statement like that…….I don’t think you can forgive anyone who does you wrong.

To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover the prisoner was you.—Unknown

He told his children to have character and standards, I fear for his children. Further he said something to the effect that never before had he been involved with something that ‘affected so many people’; again I guess he meant himself. Finally, he said, “I’ll be back with you in the coming days.” Only a week, imagine the flak created had he said the same thing about moochele.

Ed Schultz has been going down a very very dark road for several months. Once upon a time he was a staunch conservative talk show host, then he met his current wife who “corrected” his thinking. Fast forward to the other day and it seems to me that his conscience is getting the better of him. There had been a report a couple months back that hte brain structures of conservatives and libs were different, mayhaps his apology is a perfect example of that. Anyways, he showed a helluva lot of class by taking responsibility for his words. More class than Ingraham thats for sure, if her reported responses were accurate: “Who’s Ed Schultz“ and ”Oh great now his ratings will go up.” Her second response obviously answered her first response plus showing her lack of sincerity. Rather than acting like a douche she should have either accepted the apology or rejected it outright instead of acting like a *******.

Ed is a man I watch. Just like you watch the known neighborhood registered sex offender’s house to see him come and go…it’s just something a smart person does. Ed’s hate guage is frightening. His face twists in rage, his pupils almost disappear giving him a dead look, while he hurls insults as fast as his twisted tongue can hurl them. His bosses turned him loose. They reflect their employees views, and empower guys like Ed to do the dirty work they would be ruined by doing themselves.

One Worlders are Marxists. They want a world with no god at all, and humans totally controlled by the ruling few. iow, Soylent Green and Rollerball, if you need specific illustrations of the future of mankind. Or re-read Huxley’s BNW again.

That is the end goal. It’s going along pretty smoothly, isn’t it? Very little response from any of us that I can see. At least in the case of two unbearable humans–Obermann and Shultze–some action was taken by someone and it worked. Congratulations to that one person. Please contact me for future actions!
