Donors’ Phones Confiscated at Obama Fundraising Event

Apparently, the Obama reelection campaign is afraid the president might say or do something regrettable.

More than 60 VIP donors who attended a fundraiser at the home Blackstone CEO Hamilton James on Monday night were told they had to place their phones in a plastic bag before being allowed admittance, ABC News reports.

While one campaign aide called the move “standard operating procedure,” Zeke Miller of Buzzfeed reports that several campaign veterans (including aides to Hillary Clinton, Rick Perry, and Jon Huntsman) have never “heard of the practice, which is common in secure White House spaces where there are concerns of espionage, but unknown in contexts in which only political secrets are discussed.”

And despite the fact that each donor paid $35,800 to attend the ultra-swanky event, it still wasn‘t enough to win the trust of the president’s campaign aides. Apparently, they’re terrified enough that the president will make an offhand, awkward remark (the type that people bitterly cling to) that they’re willing to confiscate the phones from some of his most powerful supporters.

“The potential for awkward moments was particularly high last night, as Obama spent the morning calling for more Wall Street regulation [and then] released an ad calling Mitt Romney’s private equity firm a ‘vampire,’” Dashiell Bennett of the Atlantic Wire writes.

“[He] then entertained Wall Street guests at the home of the man who runs one of the most successful private equity firm in the business. Now we’ll never know just how awkward it got,” Bennett adds.

Oh. That is a little awkward.

But why wouldn’t the president want everyone to hear the great things he has to say members of the “1 percent”?

“Why wouldn’t the Obama campaign want everybody far and wide to know what he’s telling those rich people attending his high-dollar fundraisers?” conservative blogger Doug Powers asks.

“You’d think Obama would welcome the use of cell phones as he lectures the greedy one-percenters about how they should be sharing the wealth, demanding a tax increase and stop being eco-hypocrites by getting rid of their planet-destroying private jets in favor of algae-powered go-karts so the video could hit the web just as fast as possible,” he adds.

But seriously, the decision to have phones confiscated from high roller donors has more than a few people scratching their heads.

“What is he hiding? Candidates should be for and against the same issue in private as they are in public,” said former Perry campaign manager Rob Johnson, according to Buzzfeed.

“This shows just how uncomfortable the Obama team is with their message an their candidate. And in addition to religion and guns, voters like to cling to their cell phones,” Johnson adds.

      If you have possession of someone’s phone you can download spyware that allows you to listen in even when the phone is off. I saw an actual news report. You do have to have possession of the phone. But once downloaded, there’s no detecting it. Makes one wonder, does it not? I wondered the same thing when I got a note on my door saying that anyone receiving government benefits was eligible for a FREE “pre-programmed” cell phone and 200 minutes a month. I’m telling you, if he really does want this to be Amerika (communist) those not working are in trouble, and those with any money will be giving it all up to the elite and we’ll all be equally poor working our fingers to the bone for the priviledge of standing in line for rations.

      its not the stupid comments that they are worried about, its the TRUTHFUL comments about his contempt for this country that they are worried about. Obama had to sell his agenda promises to the money holders, and in doing that, he has to explain how he needs to totally collapse the country, in order to put his communist power structure into action. It has nothing to do with Joe biden style gaffes.. and everything to do with hiding his agenda from the common folk.

      He didn’t want us to hear the plans for his next four years.

      After the economy collapses I will institute Martial Law.

      All of those who come out in protest will be sent to labor camps. Eacy company will have it’s own camp filled with qualified employees for your business.

      All of those who don’t come out will be allowed to work service industry jobs so we can all still go out and have a good meal, hail a cab and get our lawns taken care of.

      With no cost for labor except management we will be able to compete with the Chinese in making any product they can produce.

      All that I’m asking is for your support until we can start filling the labor camps with those workers.

      And there’s this other little thing about taxes. Your tax rate will be about 90 percent, but look at your profit margins?

      I almost forgot, we will have cut the world consumer market in half by doing this. So we won’t need as much stuff as we were producing last year.

      We have to stick together in order to see this through. Forward Socialist America!

    $35,800 for access to the President. We are not being represented. Additionally, the election process is broke. 4th largest revenue generator for cable networks is election ads. The issues are never really discussed in depth. We may have a little sparring at a very controlled debate, but the American people deserve to really know the candidates and ask the tough questions. The media is controlled by a few who decide the chosen although we make believe we elect the public servants.
    The public servants live like kings. We live overtaxed yet the claim is “everyone needs to pay their fair share.” Those who challenge the system in protest are quickly arrested with the only gun wheeling.
    The war is one for truth. If You do not know the Truth vote the only life line You have – the Constitution protects Your liberties. Vote straight Constitution as much as possible at all levels.

    America is fighting the enemies within for survivial. If we loss, our heritage is gone forever. We become unarmed, enslaved under the world gov. authority of the UN.
    Our guns are locked up at home and we are afraid to show them.
