Viral Vid Gets 5 Million Hits: Will You Go Crazy Over This ‘Relaxing’ Frog Too?

Video of Frog Sitting Like a Human on a Bench Goes Viral

In what seems like it should be an illustration in a children’s book of a frog relaxing on a sunny afternoon, the amphibian sitting in this odd, human-like sitting position was actually filmed in real life. Given that frogs are usually poised to leap, this one seems to be exuding the sentiment “What? A frog can’t relax too?”

The frog’s “relaxing” pose is so unusual that it has caused quite a buzz in the viral video world. The main post of the clip, uploaded five days ago, has more than 5 million hits thus far and it has been re-posted dozens of times on YouTube.

See if you’ll be just as fascinated:

Some have questioned whether the video was faked or the animal forced to hold that position in some way. The description included with the clip ensures that the frog is “OK” and there are “no nails, no glue, animal abuse, etc. Later, he jumped off the bench and galloped away to the water.”

What did you think? Sort of makes you want to rest on a bench for a moment, no?

      Wished I had, had a camera when I saw a Bullfrog sitting on a lilly pad just like this one. On the one down at my pond you couldn’t see his legs and he was croaking in a loud barratone voice!

      When I was a kid we used to ‘hypnotize’ chickens. You push them to the ground and hold them there with their legs folded up underneath for thirty seconds or so. Their eyes glaze over and they become completely unresponsive for a minute or two- hypnotized. Then they shake their head, jump up and skedaddle like they just woke up from REM sleep… I’ve since heard that there are other ways to do it too. I think that’s a prey/self protection behavior developed to separate the chicken from the unbelievable pain of being torn apart while still alive by a predator. Something similar may be going on with our cool frog-daddy here.

      Or, then again, someone there might want to start looking around for Alice’s looking glass. Alternate realities may be bleeding through… Anything is possible in a world where there are Communists in the White House. :)

    I don’t think this is real. The “breathing” is constant and never varies as if hooked to a pump under the bench.
    The eyes don’t blink or move.
    The head doesn’t move.
    With the camera all over the place “in his face” you would expect some kind of movement besides the throat bobbing up and down.

    I agree that it looks like Pelosi.
    Maybe it‘s Sandra Fluke’s “Prince Charming” and he wants to chill rather than get kissed.

      He’s got something up his rear…check his back out toward the end. Also there is a container under the bench right under the frog. This frog is dead.

      Yeah, sadly I have to agree with you. At 0.35 you an see a stick pushing out of his back, and when they start to go back around to the front, you can see that the air is coming out of the ‘stick’ and lifting his back before the the aspiration is seen in the front.

      Still, without question, 100x more doable than Ole Debs Wasserman.

    I could not find any video on youtube “proving” that this live frog was not super glued in this abnormal position.

    Just because the person who posted the video merely stated that the frog was not harmed, means nothing to me. I need video proof, that he was not harmed.

    Show me this very frog hop away. No frog will let you get this close and let you move all around him to get it on video, and not hop away. Frogs do not sit up like humans.
