Viral Video: Angry Dad Shoots Daughter’s Laptop With .45 Pistol After Finding Secret Facebook Post

When your dad works in IT, it’s probably not a good idea to write a Facebook post bashing him and your mother, all the while thinking that because he‘s blocked he’ll never see it. A teen in North Carolina found that out the hard way this week. In fact, when her dad discovered the secret post, he took a .45 semiautomatic pistol to his daughter’s laptop, and filmed it all.
The dad, Tommy Jordan, took issue with his 15-year-old daughter’s online rant about chores. So he want on a rant of his own. He explains why in the description of his YouTube video:
My daughter thought it would be funny/rebellious/cool to post on her Facebook wall just how upset she was and how unfair her life here is; how we work her too hard with chores, never pay her for chores, and just in general make her life difficult.
She chose to share this with the entire world on Facebook and block her parent’s from seeing it. Well, umm… she failed. As of the end of this video, she won’t have to worry anymore about posting inappropriate things on Facebook…
Maybe a few kids can take something away from this… If you’re so disrespectful to your parents and yourself as to post this kind of thing on Facebook, you’re deserving of some tough love. Today, my daughter is getting a dose of tough love.
In the video, he can be seen sitting in a lawn chair, smoking a cigarette, and reading the post. He explains that he had just fixed his daughter’s computer, spending over $100 doing so, and didn’t appreciate finding the post, which calls the parents “slaves.” After about seven minutes reading the letter and explaining why she’s wrong, the father then kicks it up a notch and pulls out his gun.
“That right there is your laptop,” Jordan while showing a computer laying on the ground. “This right here is my .45.“ He then proceeds to shoot nine ”exploding hollow point” rounds into the laptop. See for yourself (content warning for some language):
“Oh yeah and after that comment you made about your mom, your mom told me to be sure I put one in there for her,” he adds. “So…that one’s from her.”
The video, entitled “Facebook Parenting: For the troubled teen,” has reached viral status. It has been viewed almost 1.5 million times since being posted two days ago.
According to Mashable, Jordan appears to run a company called Twisted Networx. However, he would not respond to Mashable’s request for comment.
“Today was probably the most disappointing day of my life as a father and I don’t know how to correct the situation,” Jordan writes on his own Facebook page. “Since I can’t seem to make any headway with my daughter on Facebook, I chose instead to remedy the problem permanently.”

Posted on February 10, 2012 at 1:36pmJZS Your an idiot. It’s called discipline, maybe not your style of it, plain and simple but it is discipline just the same. You see that as a problem? The problem is there is far too little discipline in the world these days. The problem you Liberal Idiots and non critical thinking types, is you have been brainwashed by utopian fools, your “I believe button” is as big as a house. You see, freedom, you will have to endure things you do not agree with. But that, is beyond your comprehension.

Posted on February 10, 2012 at 2:07pmJZS, I suppose you would like to have “Big Government” Rick Santorum make a law to ban .45 caliber handguns now, since Santorum thinks the government should be in your bedroom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=1Gwwmm-cQxU#
In the 90s, he voted to support the Lautenberg Gun Ban. He voted for a bill in 1999 disguised as an attempt to increase penalties on drug traffickers with guns… but it also included a provision to require federal background checks at gun shows. Rick Santorum came to anti-gun Arlen Specter’s defense in 2004 when he was down in the polls against pro-gun Republican Pat Toomey. Specter won and continued to push for gun control during his years in the Senate. Gun Owners of America calls Specter, public enemy #1. He also supported and openly campaigned for anti-gun New Jersey governor, Christine Todd Whitman.
Santorum still has not returned Gun Owners of America’s Presidential Gun Survey. Why?

What you fail to comprehend is all that has gone on prior to this particular event. Mom agreed and said to plant one for her. You shoulldn‘t take this as his normal response to his daughters’ issues. You also stated that this will only serve to create anamosities or “HATE” betwen daddy and daughter. What makes you think it’s not already there? If instead he had given his baby a hug and asked her not to post such statements about family issues would that have endeared him to her? She would have taken that weakness and ran it to the bank. True if you beat someone long enough it will create another hater/beater/angry person, but if you do the opposite? If you ignore or take this crybaby to councilers/psychiatrists/etc“ to find her ”REAL SELF”, that’s the answer. .?. I’m thinking the damage had already been done. You don’t really think that everyone is EXACTLY the same and EVERYONE responds EXACTLY alike? If we did we wouldn’t need all those imitations walking around. Let them figure it out. Posted on February 10, 2012 at 2:31pmWell, the dad went too far without thinking long term consequences. Demonizing the child without knowing the full picture is not fare. The fact of the matter is that father faiild to admit his own failure in his ability to raise a child. Dad squaring with this 15 year old in full public dispay is not a sign of good father. Most likely, she uses the computer for her school work. May be she had school assignments saved on computer. What was Dad thinking destroying a tool of her education. He should have taken a step back to analyse the reason of her rant and try to make her a better responsible child than childish diplay that he indugled in. Parents have to take some responsibility for behavior of their kids.

THERE is no manual for being a parent you figure it out as you go along and the stuff that worked for one wont work for the other i have delt with the exact same problem recently. FACEBOOK sas more or less, post it and act like the world can see but only select few that you wish to impress or portray a specific reaction from is allowed to see it usually is lies or a slant on the truth at best. The parent knows nothing of it seems to find out from other kids parents hey so you beat your child or you made her clean the entire house bla bla bla . Its kinda the I will get back at you you cant tell be what to do mentality. Posted on February 10, 2012 at 3:32pmSo he shot his hard earned money right through the screen saver. Parents don’t overburden your children, parents have realistic expectations. Chores are to be expected! No pay involved! Anything above and beyond as services the parents would normally pay for, such as some website or high tech work that they can do but you yourself do not possess the skills for, then maybe some pay is helpful in teaching them a work for pay ethic.
This is a very tedious area parents often screw up and I have myself done so. But shooting the computer is dumb. He paid for the darn thing, yes he can destroy it but that doesn’t mean he should. Find another way to teach your daughter a lesson. Maybe having this conversation with her and then locking up the computer from her. Destroying it.?..Dumb, esp since you paid to fix it recently. Give the thing away to a church or something. Not only are you destroying the computer through violence but your shooting your daughter by default. Dumbest ever.

Report Post »How profound of you to point out that children can be rebellious. The point is that it will always be the job of the parent to teach children respect and how to be decent human beings, no matter how the left insists it is the job of the government. You teach your child and hope they eventually learn. The trend is that from about 14 to 24 or so, your children will avoid you like the plague and think you have no idea what you are talking about. Then, if they have half a brain, when they get older, they grow up and realize what you were doing…teaching them to be decent. That’s exacly how it was with me. If your teenager doesn’t say “I hate you,” from time to time, you’re not doing your job as a parent.

Posted on February 10, 2012 at 9:13pmOkay, I’ve read your responses, and am coming around to your point of view, as least to the degree that I’m developing some parenting tips of my own, in line with your philosophy. But first I need to tell you parents right up front that your teenage kids complain about you behind your back. Almost all teenagers do, at least those who are are trying to assert their independence from their parents and become adults in their own right.
Okay, so it‘s good to shoot a teenager’s computer with a 45 and post it on the internet, seven slugs for Dad, and a couple for Mom for good measure. So what do you if you’re daughter borrows or buys a dress that is too short in your opinion and you want to shame here via the internet. Okay, you’ve already done the 45 thing, so here’s what you do. You get a large chef’s knife, a video yourself destroying the dress by stabbing is over an over with the knife, seven stabs for you and a couple for Mom. If your son or daughter texts you (and you violate their privacy to find out), you heat a fireplace poker until red hot, and jab at the phone over and over and over, until it’s destroyed. Don’t like red lipstick or rouge? Put it on the ground and and blow it away with a shotgun, then post it on youtube on youtube of course.
This manly man left home at 16 because he was abused as he said. And he’s doing right by his daughter by driving her away at the same age. What a great dad!

Watch the blood fly. Some parents would have kept the computer away from the daughter for a time, or sold it. But not this good parent! Too bad he was too weak to do it in front of his daughter for the world to watch. No control over her? Or the mother?
Personally, I’d have destroyed it in front of her eyes. This guy was too chicken to do that, and the mother was noticeable absent, another thing tha proves this guy is a sissy and a little boy compared to a real man – no fatherly control over his own – despite the fact that he fled his parents at the same age his daughter is now. What a coincidence! Or is this history repeating?
Killing a computer with a gun is fine, but there are better ways that are more graphic. He should have taken a big butcher knife and stabbed the computer over an over and over. More to the point.
Sadly, I think within a few days this guy is going to be investigated by CPS. If for no other reason, it‘s really strange for a parent to kill his child’s things with a gun. That suggests a pattern of escalating violence: the parent becomes more violent, the child resists more, and so the parent becomes even more violent. A downward spiral, with a predictably bad end.

Posted on February 10, 2012 at 11:56pmWell my initial response is if he wants to know where his daughter’s atrocious behavior came from he should re-watch this video with a long hour of quiet reflection. I do not condone her post (because it was awful), but this is horrible parenting. Not only that it is totally immature. I didn’t see a hint of the love I know he has for his daughter expressed in this. Love is patient and kind, and thinks only of others. A parent does not punish a child to get back at them nor do they punish the child to teach them a lesson. Punishment is to better the child, and this did her no good. In fact it probably did more harm than good. If I were him I would be less worried that she disrespected me, and more worried about why she does not value me as her father enough to not want to say something like that.
Oh, and if he has a problem with her cursing at him, then he should’t curse at her. Give me a break.

Posted on February 11, 2012 at 1:24amI’m not sure I would have handled it that way…what a waste of a good computer! I do think the public humiliation of his daughter will probably come back to bite him in the butt…but maybe that’s what it will take to get through to this kid. I’m not really sure when it started, but kids these days seem to feel like their parents are there only to house, clothe and feed them…and other wise stay out of their business. I know that my two oldest kids (who are now grown and have babies of their own) tried that kind of behavior a few times and they quickly learned that it wasn’t going to fly with their dear old dad. I used to get my butt whipped on a regular basis when I was that age, I guess I was a little hard headed and it took a while for me to learn that if I behaved, life was a whole lot better. More kids need to get the belt applied to their butts when they are younger, and no…getting your butt whipped as punishment is NOT abuse. It’s a means of teaching children that there are rules in life, and if you don’t follow them you WILL be punished…and your life will be miserable until you learn to obey your parents. Better to teach them that when they are young than to try to get them to learn it when they are in their teens.

Posted on February 11, 2012 at 4:03amWow! I wonder where the daughter developed her sense of “taking it public?” I would be mad to, but where was the encouragement? Righteous wrath isnt full of poison, even when it is deserving of it. Dont get me wrong, I would have shot it up as well. But humiliation? Is there an adult in the house? If the goal is behavior modification, this didnt do it. It re-inforced her poor behavior and will garner sympathy from her peers. But, it did make him feel better I guess……

Posted on February 11, 2012 at 4:35amgodlovinmom, I’m sorry to have to tell you, but I’m a single parent raising a sixteen-year-old daughter. And have had two foreign exchange students in the last two years as well. My daughter and I started close and have remained close. We’ve always been able to talk and spend close time together every day (I’ll just skip my involvement in the school and Girl Scouts unless you want to hear about that later).
We have a relationship based on love, mutual respect and openness. And do you know what? She complains to me to her friends – at least I imagine she does. Wouldn‘t it be weird if a teenager didn’t complain to friends about their parents? I don’t violate her privacy by checking her facebook page or texts although I could I guess. She can be defiant, and she challenges me. But I encourage that because that’s part of becoming an adult, and try to give her give her the skills she’ll need in the future. A teenager needs to learn how to respectfully challenge authority and make their case whatever it is. That’s healthy. We all do that as adults, and good parents respect the challenge and help their kids do it effectively, even if, or especially when, you accept a good argument when you hear it.
Sorry, I don’t shoot guns at my daughters things or humiliate her even in private, let alone in public. At 16, she’s all but an adult, and I treat her that way, unlike this jerk that you think is such a great parent.

Posted on February 11, 2012 at 9:30amAwesome DAD!!! I raised three daughters and two grandsons. When they were disrespectful, or refused to comply with rules, punishment was the answer. I can’t count how many times I was told that I was hated, humiliated them, forced them to live like prisoner (that was from a 15 year old who wanted to attend a college Frat Party). I learned to ignor the rants of teenagers. If they are taught to work hard, be respectful of others and follow rules and laws, they will never be successful adults. One day when the daughter is much older they will tell this tale and humor will be injected in the story. That has happened in our family. Bravo DAD and MOM. Keep it up. I have always said that God made teenagers so that we don’t stay in motherly love with the cuddly toddlers. Teenagers are that way so that we are happy to see them go off on their own and laugh when they come home complaining about how tough life is out there and how unfair life is. I’ve always loved that part, then send them back out in the world. The best part is when they start having children.

Well, so what? Anyone who lives in someone elses home for free has no right to privacy. Any and all privacy is given by choice to that person by the owner of that home. You don’t even have privacy if you do rent. The owner still has the right to come and check on “their” property anytime they feel like it even if you are not there.
Remember, she set the stage. She went on FB and disrespected her parents. She did this eventhough she had been warned and punished over something similar before. She broke a rule that she knew about. He in turn punished her on the stage that she set. He showed her that there are real consiquences for what you post online.

Report Post »If you want to see the results of parenting in the manner you advocate, just watch any OWS clip or story, that is likely the manner those overgrown spoiled children were raised. Now, I may not have chosen a firearm to destroy the computer, but it would have been history. Negative re-enforcement has a place in child rearing. To do otherwise, will leave your child unprepared for the real world, where it is standard. Post something like that about a professor, your boss, etc., and let’s see whether or not they sit you down and “talk It out.” The biggest mistake parents make, relating to punishment. is not following through with stated consequences. Don’t say it unless you intend to do it, which is what this father was doing. It is my hope that if you are raising a child yourself that, you dodge the bullet (pun somewhat intended) and your child turns out a sane, productive member of society rather than what is likely.

Mom and Dad do not sound to like “bad guys” raising an entitlement brat so let’s not have anyone even suggest it. I have no doubt this mentality the daughter has, based on her Facebook post, is exactly that of Occupy drones. Her post oozes Occupy mentality but from Dad’s position he doesn’t seem to be a pushover taking orders from a teenage kid that makes demands.
Question is where did she learn it from? Dad clearly explains how he grew up so you know it didn’t come from him. Based on his comment of the mothers request I doubt the daughter got this mindset from her as well. So who’s left to influence a kid to be like this?
Music?
TV?
Movies?
Internet?
Friends?
School?…… my money is here.
Some may not like how Dad deals with this at the end but deep down you know you would love to! Funny when he says she will pay for the ammo too!!!

Posted on February 11, 2012 at 9:45amHomes and raising children is not a democracy, where everyone gets a vote. Dad and mom make the decisions, with dad’s word being the final law, right or wrong. Children do not have a voice in how they are reared, nor should they: their life experience is non-existant for any decisions how to rear them.
Report Post »This spoiled child whined and complained about how she was being reared, yet had a computer and access to FB and who knows what else, and a roof over her head and food to eat provided by her parents, not the nanny state. Whether they love her or not is immaterial to her upbringing, though it is desireable, it’s not mandatory.
As for the laptop: from the sound of it, dad provided it, asking only for her to do chores to pay for it. It was his equipment, and his right to destroy it if he wanted, regardless that she called it ‘her computer’. Even the repair of it was paid for by dad, not the rebellious child.

Yeah, I know, we’re all owned by the Fed. I agree with that. Exactly what do you propose to do about it? Peaceful electoral change? Armed revolution? Some other way?
You say that you “don’t pay a dime of anothers debt unless it is voluntary.” Ok, then. Taxes aren’t voluntary. You do pay your taxes, don’t you? Or are you one of those “Sovereign Citizens”?
Do you deny you’re a Paulista? Paulista=extremist, anti-Semite, anti-military, et al.

When I said be a Bit@h to the Corp. I meant the “United States” Corporation. Not the marines
I am a Sovereign Resident of a Republic.
My only Contract with the Corporation is a Drivers License with the State Corporation.
Income tax is because of the Federal Reserve act and the following default of 1933.
No one OWNS me, and I will not pay ONE CENT of another‘s person’s debt, regardless of whether it was due to incompetence or Corruption.

Yeah. I have a peaceful way to execise our duty under the bill or rights.
Since the polls are rigged by the Corporation, we simply storm washington with a million man march.
We tell them to pack their bags and never show their faces again.
No Blood. No Violence.
If I am a Politician surrounded by thousands telling me to high-tail it, I AM OUT OF THERE !!!!!!
We go to the World Court in Hauge and we tell them that the IMF and United Nations does not own us due to the Bankruptcy of 1933.
We will pay old debts provided that the LAND, GOVERNMENT and PEOPLE are released from the “CONTRACT”
They began foreclosure on America in 1992.
We will have to seize our land back and make good on the money these foreign investors paid for OUR LAND !!!!!
RON PAUL will END the IRS, income tax, The Federal reserve PRIVATE BANK, the EPA and more.
But people will vote another DemocRATor RepubliCON employee of the Corporation.
BTW, The Marine Corp. is a PRIVATE COMPANY !!!!!

Report Post »Nice, how you ended your statement with the movie reference.
When I went into the USMC decades ago, I wasn’t as enlightened as you are today. I didn’t realize that American citizens are just pawns. Over the past 10 years or so, I have come to see and agree with a lot of what you are referring to. The bankers, Bilderbergers, NWO global elites, etc., etc., how do you stop them? I don’t have a good feeling about the future. And I don’t think your sovereign citizenship is going to do you any good when our borders no longer exist.
I don’t trust any, ANY politician, including Paul.
BTW, I apologize for the name-calling earlier. I was a little pi**ed.

Posted on February 10, 2012 at 2:14pmJROOK – are you kidding me? You must not have children, let alone teenagers. They do what they want to do. I’ve seen the best people / parents raise the worst kids. I’ve seen the worst people (my crack head aunt & uncle) have the best kids – no thanks to them. I’ve seen people have kids that run the gamut. I used to think (before I had my own kids) if you raised your children in a positive & loving environment, they would respond in kind. Turns out, that’s not exactly how life works. Some kids respond to it, others don’t. Every child is different. My parents didn’t have to use the extreme measure on me as they did my youngest brother. He didn’t respond to it. He did respond when they placed his beloved video games and console (that my parents bought) in a barrel and set it on fire. As a parent, you do what works. I totally applaud this guy.

Posted on February 10, 2012 at 7:44pmI’m sure you would subject such entities as ELF, PETA, unions and hardcore partisans to your lecture on civlity. I’m also sure many a member and supporter of ELF. PETA. et al. believe they are far more compassionate than even you. Remember your argument the next time a car dealership or housing development is razed; remember your argument the next time someone wearing a fur is attacked or a dumpster full of dead dogs and cats are found; remember your argument as the presidential election draws closer and the bricks, rocks, swears and even bullets begin to fly.
Report Post »There are jerks on both sides of the ideological spectrum. To assert the left has a monopoly on either compassion or sanity is laughable. This on a day when PETA has to be told by a judge, “No. Whales are not people.”
I worked in school-based mental health for 3 years and saw the damage done to children as developing human beings when fathers and mothers opted to act as friends rather than parents. Hell, I agree this guy’s antics are bit flamboyant, but he did nothing illegal. It was not my job and is not the left‘s prerogative to validate a child’s egocentric rants and desires.
The “Who is more compassionate?” argument wears thin. I live in an area where acitivists “spike” trees so chainsaws will kickback. I’ve engaged in debate with lefties that devolves to “gasp!” hate speech (unless, as I suspect, this is yet one more ploy that only serves protected classes… defined by progressives).

I however agree with you. This is not, I repeat NOT a LEFT/RIGHT issue, this is a right/wrong issue with the Dad being the one who is sorely misguided. Yes he has a right to be pissed, I would be upset as well as heart broken to find out that any one of my kids spewed something out there to the world about me whether true or not. I would not have gone snooping to find out what she was saying then use that against her as punishment. Have the people who commented here lost their minds….one after another they say OOHRAY for our side. He took out his anger on the computer…thats just dumb. The computer is not the problem, his parenting or lack of it appears to be though.
I know I’ll get slammed left and right here at the Blaze, but for those who think this is old fashioned parenting I’ve got news for ya, it ain’t. I’m old school and had a very strict upbringing, I never saw my parents destroy something that they paid for to punish me!!!
