‘Oh My God! Tornado! Tornado!’: Viral Video Shows Teen’s Freak-Out Over PA Funnel Cloud

For starters, let’s point out that a possible tornado ripped through western Pennsylvania yesterday and destroyed nearly 90 homes. Thank God, no deaths have been reported.

With that said, it’s also worth pointing out that a teen who caught early versions of that possible tornado may have created the best storm chasing video ever.

The video isn’t necessarily incredible because of what it shows — it never captures the funnel cloud reaching the ground. Rather, the video is going viral because of what you hear: a young man giving a play-by-play of the funnel cloud swirling over his house. Imagine the most excited Mexican soccer announcer you’ve ever heard coupled with the most shocking screams ever uttered at a horror-movie showing. In two parts below:

That was a tornado? As a kid, we wouldn’t of stopped playing baseball or football with the other neighborhood kids for that puny thing.

Who in their right mind would actually click “play” and watch something so utterly foolish?

Not me. Not bitin’ on this one, but had to comment.

Substitute the letters ‘UFO’ for the word ‘tornado’ and it will make it more believable. I saw a funnel cloud and he‘s screaming like it’s an F-5 ripping the town apart. Even when he‘s crying that it’s on the ground the tree in the video aren’t even moving. Something is wrong with this video.

Hilarious! Growing up in eastern Colorado, I’ve seen about two dozen tornadoes, one of which was an F4 that split into two separate tornadoes in the middle of our small town. What the kid saw was nothing, but it was obviously exciting for him.

Extreme weather events are all relative. I would probably get a lot more excited over, say, a small earthquake, than someone who has been through them before, since I’ve never experienced one before.

Why are we all so cynical this morning? Just enjoy the video for what it is.

That’s the best our young people can up with today for something to do… play videos, make videos, hunt for more videos, and play around with electronic socializing. I know first-hand what a battle it is to get today’s youth AWAY from this sort of time-wasting addiction. Their phones and ipods are this century‘s version of Linus’s blanket in the old Peanuts cartoon strips.

Maybe people should do some research before commenting. A tornado did touch down in Hempfield, PA. It tore the roof of the high school. It destroyed 30 homes. 90 homes total were effected. Thank God no one was hurt. The kid’s video left alot to be desired but his reaction was dead on.

Every tornado is bad news and is very destructive and dangerous but I can imagine how he would’ve freaked out to see some really bad tornadoes. I just wish I had video of when I was in college in Oklahoma, I was standing outside and watched two tornadoes cross each other in the sky. It picked up a 45 foot pine tree about 100 feet from me and throw it in my direction, I can tell you right now that I probably never ran so fast before or after that.

That was a tornado it just hadn’t touched down yet and that young gentleman had reason to be absolutely horrified. I lived through a waterspout that hit our Apache camping trailer and while I did not panic I could certainly understand someone who would. It tore our trailer apart and the entire wall came crashing in and I literally caught it before it hit my wife and 6 month old son. My wife had her entire body over him but I was standing there and holding the wall against the wind with all of my might and we ended up sleeping in our van which was not damaged which we had to run through with torrential rain and lightning and wind striking everywhere. The next morning when we went outside the entire campground was a wreck and that is the last time I could ever get my wife to go camping.
