Yesterday, in Arlington, Virginia, vandals set fire to 27 American flags. According to WUSA9.com, authorities do not yet have any suspects or a motive. The community is perplexed and saddened by the events that took place:
The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that burning the flag is constitutionally-protected free speech. Despite that, the homeowners whose flags were burned say it’s wrong, some said “disgraceful,” and many hoped the people responsible would go to jail, assuming they’re caught
The flags had been planted by a local Boy Scouts troop. Watch below for a report from WUSA-9 TV:

The flags were burned.
What are we going to do for these kids – allow this to be swept under the rug – as insignificant?
What does our country stand for? What is the purpose of The Boy Scouts?
Are we going to just let this slide……..bc we are to accept this offensive act as “freedom of speech”?

The penalty should be – if US citizens = one year in prison…. lose voting rights permanently; if non-citizens = immediatey deported and banned from the USA permanently.
Any country that allows theburning of the American Flag, should not receive any of our US taxpayer money.

You conveniently left out of your argument, destruction of personal property (no matter how insignificant), since these were personally purchased for personal p[lots for patriotic Americans. Not for communal territory for self gratifying arsonist. These twinkies still have no respect for personal property especially when they target the American flag for destruction. You admit it is a misdemeanor, so why do you defend anarchy? Unless for anarchy sake, and this is a self defeating policy if you truly adhere to it.
And.. who brought up corporal punishment, a crime done is a crime with ramifications. Or are you assuming this is 1st Amendment freedom of speech

Would you would find this act honorable enough to defend your sons integrity? Or would you teach you boy this was important enough personal property to show a miniscule of respect for this plot. Because after all someone in the future may desecrate your plot, whom they have grown to venerate.
