Vote Count Error? Did Rick Santorum Really Win the Iowa Caucuses? | Appanoose County | Edward True

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is shrugging off reports that the vote count from Iowa’s caucuses might be wrong, saying the errors appear not to change the fact that he and Mitt Romney were nearly tied.

Santorum tells Fox News that a party official says the two cases in which errors were reported in the count from Tuesday night nearly cancel each other out.

A Ron Paul supporter told Des Moines TV station KCCI that the posted count from his precinct in Appanoose County gave Romney more votes than he actually received.

The GOP chairman in Iowa, Matt Strawn, says in a statement that state party officials don‘t have any reason to believe the final results from Appanoose County will change the outcome of Tuesday’s vote.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Caucus night was chaotic in many places, with hundreds of voters, candidates showing up and the throngs of media who followed. The world’s eyes were on Iowa. But in the quiet town of Moulton, Appanoose County, a caucus of 53 people may just blow up the results.

Edward True, 28, of Moulton, said he helped count the votes and jotted the results down on a piece of paper to post to his Facebook page. He said when he checked to make sure the Republican Party of Iowa got the count right, he said he was shocked to find they hadn’t.

“When Mitt Romney won Iowa by eight votes and I’ve got a 20-vote discrepancy here, that right there says Rick Santorum won Iowa,” True said. “Not Mitt Romney.”

True said at his 53-person caucus at the Garrett Memorial Library, Romney received two votes. According to the Iowa Republican Party’s website, True’s precinct cast 22 votes for Romney.

“This is huge,” True said. “It essentially changes who won.”

A spokeswoman with the Iowa Republican Party said True is not a precinct captain and he’s not a county chairperson so he has no business talking about election results.

    The reason this matters is because of “perception”, which politicians and the main stream media manipulate to the max. And they WILL twist anything and everything to steer “the herd” in the direction that THEY want. It MAY have seemed “classy” of Rick Santorum to respond the way he did (to some people), but it really does NOT help the “perception” the public has that the whole system IS rigged.

      Exactly! In my view, it would have been much better if Rick Santorum had insisted to the MSM that the Iowa caucus tallies be revised. Unfortunately, the perception that Mitt Romney WON, slants the whole “race (ha!)” in HIS favor; in “the herd’s” eyes. Too many people ARE easily led and manipulated by TPTB. I just hope that those of us who can see through all the bull will have our numbers increased by this. Unfortunately, I fear this will NOT be the case. Or if it is, it will be squashed and smothered to the point that it does no good to the cause of freedom and the restoration of our Constitutional Republic. Most of the people running for the Republican Presidential nominee are embedded up to their necks in the NWO scheme. I believe Ron Paul is the only candidate who will do everything he can to thwart their goal. (MIchele Bachmann MAY have been another exception.) Of-course, it IS possible that RP is just another plant and is really a part of the “controlled opposition.” I guess we will not know the answer to THAT unless he is actually able to make it to the Presidency. He certainly could not do any worse than ANY of the others still on the Republican slate. He would certainly be better than the current usurper. But unless people realize that the President is highly dependent on a co-operative congress and CHANGE the congressional make-up, nothing much is likely to change. Maybe it won’t anyway.

      I listened in on his town hall meeting today. He couldn’t answer any of the hard questions they posed him… he just kept circling back to the Declaration of Independence and spouting nothings for 10 minutes rather than actually answer a question.

      Just a clarification on my post, it was Representatives from the oil companies, not execs.

      The RonPaulians are just as blind as the Obamanites were – blinding believing in the Yes We Can mentality. His foreign policy will kill our way of life. I dont know the powers running this country may sway his thinking as they did Obama when he first took office and kept the Bush administrations policies running, something he campaigned on ending. But we CAN NOT TAKE THAT CHANCE.

      You have to face the fact, that our entire foreign policy, foreign aid, and military action is to keep the world from chaos and protecting our way of life. I know everyone ****** and moans that we shouldnt be the worlds police, but if we werent, and hadn’t propped up the regimes we have, our way of life would be set back 100 years. PEOPLE HAVE TO WAKE UP AND REALIZE THIS. We dont do it for power, or we’d be taking over all the countries we go into. BUT THE US IS THE GLUE THAT’S HOLDING THIS TOGETHER. Just look at the regimes that we allowed to be in place and supported, and how fast it has gone to pot, becuase of BO. EGYPT, LIBYA, and now IRAQ (pulling out too soon) – THEY WILL ALL BE DOMINATED BY MUSLIM EXTREMISTS. WERE THEY BEFORE? NO.

The only candidate not willing to trample over these rights is the good doctor. If we don’t get it right, God will let this country burn to the ground. Ron Paul does share your Christian values in his own life. The only difference is he understands that only god has the insight to judge others, not bureaucrats and crooked politicians.

    Let’s think about this for a moment. With Gingrich trying to make an example out of Romney for Super PAC, all he’s doing is stealing votes from Santorum.

    Write it down. Santorum will miss out being the lead candidate because of Callista’s lap dog, Newt, who‘s running around nipping and growling at Romney’s feet, and stealing votes in the meanwhile. And we’ll end up seeing another “Obama-McCain” ballot as a result.

    I’m all for Santorum, and I like Romney. So, in many ways, I’m split between the two. Either one of them could get this belligerent idiot out of office. Even with Ron Paul and his ghostly ballots coming from Democrats switching over (with some possibly switching back after it’s all said and done, watch for it…), it’s should be one of these two facing off against B.O.

    But for Santorum to win out completely, Newt needs to be put back into his doggy carrier, and somebody needs to whisk him and Callista away to the Rivera someplace. Nobody wants Gingrich as President that has actually thought about this situation throughly.

    By the way, those of you still looking at Romney and sticking your noses in the air because he’s a Mormon, how about this: Since you’re still judging somebody by their religion, how about we judge all Evangelicals by the actions of Dennis Rader aka BTK killer? Make sense?

      If Obama wins, so be it.

      This country will go over a cliff slower with RINO Romney or Santorum than with Obama but over the cliff it will go. Maybe THEN the SHEEP in the country will FORCE our elected officials to follow the Constitution. If they did, we wouldn’t have all these problems.

      Ron is right. I’m only voting for Ron Paul, no matter what. that will be the honest & right thing to do. he is the only candidate i would trust to watch my child. voting for anyone But the honest choice is throwing your vote away. you might as well not vote. you are doing more damage voting for someone you don’t even like or agree with. what do you want the Federal Government to do? protect our liberties and our borders and let the states handle their own affairs? or do you want the federal government to do everything it can, so that when it makes a mistake we ALL suffer for it instead of just the people of the state who wanted it? honestly. you need to really start questioning what you can do for yourself and ask why you need someone else do dictate your life. i shoulda voted for Paul in 2008.. mcCain was the “lesser of 2 evils” and look what that got.. Obama and McCain are horrible. McCain wrote the NDAA bill… did we ever need a bill to detain enemies of our country before? why do we all of a sudden need one? think about that… freedom is NOT free. that is a fact. some people WANT to control others. you have to fight for your liberty, or lose it to those who take it from you and tell you it’s for your own good. are you child or an adult? man up.

      Do we need to down size and /or reform government? Yes. EPA, FDA, IRS, BOE, NSF are certainly at the top of the list and there’s a #&^%$ load of departments should shouldn’t even be in existence today, example Administration on Aging (AoA) Wha?!?? Why is there an administration for Aging?

      Cutting this short, When it comes to domestic policies, It’s very difficult to argue with Paul on any of it. His Foreign Policy is nutz. This is a different time and era. HoJo is not running Japan anymore. We have a different world than we had back in the 50‘s and 60’s. And our influence is far and wide. You don’t simply give all of that up to isolate yourself, when you have the ability to help dictate world policy. Without any of that, you’ve closed the door on not just allies, but on the ability to help change the international community.

      Have we done that lately? No. We have a bunch of gutless cowards that only seek to be reelected, so they can cash in later. Our military abroad could be downsized, but think about what kind of downsizing Paul is thinking of. If it were left up to him, we’d be no better than Canada. There’s a reason why foreign countries call for our aid, and it’s not because we turn over on our backs like the French or the family dog.       Apple bite, what about the NDAA and TSA? The other candidates will keep them both – especially Santorum who probably can‘t wait to use the power of indefinite detention for anyone who doesn’t fir into his ‘moral’ code. Santorum already said he’s bomb Iran AFTER China said that if Iran is bombed they will join forces with Iran.

      You know what, Ron Paul is the ‘Rights’ Barack Obama. When he gets in there and the **** goes bad and you start to wonder what the heck, this isnt what we wanted – we’ll be able to sit back and say – he told us everything he was gonna do. He stated his foreign policy. Now the worlds on fire, there’s nuclear waste lands throughout Europe, oil is $400/barrel and we cant afford to buy anything because our energy costs are so high. Terrorists are knocking at our door funded by the Soviet Union, all the shipping channels have come to a stop, no more exports…

      Sorry guys he told us what hes gonna do. Sorry but foreign policy/National Security DOES revolve around oil! Oil is money and power, and without free access to it – we are caveman. Our wars do revolve around oil because without it we are toast. My Bro-in-law was is a LT Col in Marine corps and when he was at Quantico there was a wargaming exercise to see where we were in the next 20+ years and guess who was there at this exercise – oil execs. Sorry but that’s the nature of the beast until we become independent, and even after that it’s still a matter of National Security due to it funding foreign regimes.       I’m ignorant about Ron Paul? No,most Ron Paul’s followers are foolish for thinking by falling back into isolation is the key to everything in solving Foreign issues. I don’t have to be anywhere to tell you that the politics of the Middle East are asinine. But the way to deal with it shouldn’t be met by having a policy as asinine as theirs. You need to educate yourselves on this point, these are Wolves you’re dealing with, not your old lady’s lap dog. You show weakness, they’ll eat you alive. Witness Iraq as of last month. Witness what happened to the UK and Europe. Right after the U.S. closed bases there, Arabs came in droves. News flash for Paul followers: Arabs had been living in Germany for nearly a decade or more, before Ronald Reagan ask Gorby to tear down the walls. How do I know this? I was there, living in Zweibrucken at the time, we were looking at them dead in their freakin’ face as they hung out on the corners waiting on taxis and smoking, among other things. The same thing is coming to the U.S. and you‘re a damn fool to think they’ll just go away if you leave. They’ll come for you regardless.

      Understand what kind of stance you’re taking on here. You’re talking about downsizing the military during a time where the world around us is going batshit crazy with war and violence. Down sizing the military doesn’t work, Ask the U.K. You see what they’re dealing with, right? You think that won’t come to the U.S.? It’s already begun!

      @apple bite I understand the implied threat they impose. And I say imply, for to this date, they have not invaded any country. My main concern, as I’ve said in other previous posts, is the abuse of Power, and the expansion of Government, through unconstitutional means, to achieve the goal of eliminating Iran as a threat. If Iran really does pose such a huge threat, we should seek Constitutional means, the Rule of Law, and Reason to deal with these problems. We cannot deny that the erosion of our Rights by our own Government has been initiated by fear of some foreign enemy abroad or here at home. Let’s declare war, fight it, win it, and come back home. I am against Nation building. Shall we be another ten years in Iran when we crush them in order to end one regime and set up another Government? Another concern of mine is our huge mounting debt. As a Conservative I must advocate for us to work within our means, and within the bounds established in the Constitution. As of this point, I do believe we have spread our Military too thin around the world, especially our troops. They should not be a global police force or world peace corps. We have left our borders unsecured and wide open. We need to reevaluate our priorities, and focus our energy here at home. We have enough satellites, carriers, submarines, stationed missiles and other high tech weaponry to protect our homeland and our interests here at home and abroad.

      They have invaded other countries, without resorting to violence. They have Europe on it’s knees while implementing Sharia Law. And they’re attempting to do it here as well. When you can take over another country without resorting to violence and enforce your laws into foreign territory, why shed blood (even though, they’ve done that as well…)? Especially if you’re trying to convince the rest of the international community that “They’re the bad guys, we’re peaceful people…”. Just like the illegals coming from the South, look how much the U.S. has changed since the late 90′s. Everything is “Press 1 for English”. Have they shed blood to do it? Not in a sense of declared war, but drug/gang lord violence supported by Hamas, you betcha.

      They (the R Establishment) wanted a Romney win … even if only 8 votes .. I knew something wasn’t right (I stayed up on the caucus night) when they reported that someone in a truck was driving the results in .. and they couldn’t contact that person .. really .. REALLY? Sounded too much like Dems finding absentee ballots in a trunk to win an election.

      I thought I could if push came to shove – but I have my Florida absentee ballot in front of me and I voted for Ron Paul in the primary. In the general election, if Mitt Romney – that worthless RINO Obama duplicate is the republican nominee, I will write in Ron Paul.

      Ha…we’re from Florida and my wife has a mail in ballot that she filled in Ron Paul and I sent it off Wednesday evening. I’m doing a walk in but it will be Ron Paul as well. If Ron Paul doesn’t win the primary, then a write in by us both is likely as well.

    They said, ”theres a guy in a truck with the votes”.
    Then, ”No we were kidding about the guy in the truck”.
    Then, ”we dont know where the votes are”.
    Then they said, Someone who counted the votes for Mitt said, they may have miss typed.
    It was crazy.

      Two things: (1) The Ron Paul supporters are very foolish, not because they are supporting Ron paul, but because they make the asinine statement that Ron Paul is the only one who can turn things around, and then follow that with if Ron Paul does not get the nomination, theb they are not voting for the Republican nominee in the general election. Pure foolishness. Obama is such a fraud, as inept as they come, a Chicago bred thug and a traitor, that to consider throwing your vote away, is the height of asininity and stupidity, and I am not a Romney supporter, but I would vote for him over Obama.

      (2) The height of corruption which was demonstrated by the Obama machine in the 2008 primaries, is frightening and at a magnitude that there is little doubt that his victory over Hillary was wrought by this Chicago-Alinsky-Acorn activity. Also their is little doubt that it carried over and was used in the general election. Voter i.d.s are essential.

      Take the time to view the corruption in the Democratic Party caucuses: This is another face of Obam and the cadre of unAmerican persons that he has trained and surrounded himself with. More than just interesting.

      I kids the electoral college is nearly as old as the nation, the founding fathers put it in to protect less populated states, against the larger ones… Otherwise the populated states would choose the president every time… The fact you don’t understand this means you bought into the progressive indoctrination hook like and sinker… The marxists would love to get rid of the electoral college it would give New York, California, Illinois and other liberal populated states full control of who becomes president! Less populated states would be under the heal of whatever the live decide! You sir truly are duped…

      I don’t know about you, but I’m very skeptical. Voter-fraud has been creeping into our electoral process on an increasing basis.

      Now, that fraud includes votes for dead people; people for an address with no structor; votes for “people” who live in an unoccupied home; illegal immigrants; absentee ballots being mailed late, or not at all; ballots not being sent to servicemen in time; ballots being filled for those who cannot read and/or are not even interested. Sometimes, those ballots to the last-mentioned group are hand-delivered and filled out by the deliverer.

      Some of this, of course, has always existed. Now, it is being sanctioned by our ‘Justice’ (oxymoron intended) Dept. If theres anyone who still doubts the credibility of Eric Holders‘ DOJ after the New Black Panthers’ episode in Philly, its simply because they have a horse in the race.

      Those who still doubt it, however, will have NO doubt after the Nov 2012 election. We already see the denial of S Carolina‘s attempt to validate a voter’s ID.

      Eric Holder had the audacity to say “we are a nation of racial cowards”. I would agree with him. The only problem is…is that Eric is the biggest coward of all.
      I would suggest that anyone who does not believe me get their hands on a copy of J Christian Adams’ book “Injustice”. Adams was in the ‘voters section’ of the DOJ for 5 years, and his detailed story is very revealing about the ingrained racism in the DOJ.

    And remember it was Karl Rove who came up with the “count error” on Fox as reported from his “reliable source”. Sounds like a little fishy to me. He stated that Romney won by 14 points, but it turned out it was only 8.

    Like Santorum said, it really does not matter; they were so close.

    It doesn’t matter weather Santorum won or not——>Rick is getting his chance in the sun either way. I am not sure he is the man to win this thing—–but any of the Republicans would be better than Obama. This election is the most important in several generations. I pray that we can get another Reagan((someone that values “individual” liberties)).
    If Obama wins—-he will likely pick a couple more supreme court justices’. If so, our country really will be transformed into something other than the “Land of the Free”—————

      it doesn’t have to be radical… it just doesn’t have to be Federally Mandated.
      when the Federal Government makes a mistake, we ALL suffer.
      when a State Government makes a mistake, the people of that state suffer and have a choice to move to a state which provides a better environment for growth, etc…
      speaking of growth, if you want a tree to grow to it’s full potential, do you regulate it and restrict it’s environment?

      we have an electoral college, that alone says we are an oligarchy, not a republic. that is a sad truth.

      Large Governments Never do good. Governments are just middlemen… do you like using middlemen? do you ever get an honest answer from a middleman? think about that.

      Groups of People who come together do good.
      Churches and Charities have done more good for people than governments ever have or ever will.

      Governments are just tools for special interests to impose regulations and laws which benefit their pocketbooks. this is a fact. over and over in history, “follow the money”.

      Exactly. I used to think Beck was a true believer and ardent defender of the Constitution. Well, that all changed when he started talking about Bachmann, who twice voted for the unPatriotic Patriot Act, and who also vote FOR the new NDAA, National Defense Authorization Act … the law that gives Obama the authority to arrest any of us Americans on “suspicion” of being a terrorist, then kept us in jail INDEFINITELY, without a trial!     Well, now that’s a new wrinkle!!! I suspect this is absolutley true!! Santorum campaigned tirelessly and it would make sense, despite the fact that it was close, that he won Iowa. What a great boost for a solid, strong and principled candidate! I hope this news helps bring in more donations to his campaign. He needs money and does not have the war chest Romney and the others have. Send money his way if you can, and if you believe in his message.

      I grew up in Beaver County Pennsylvania, the next county over is Butler County, where goo old Ricky boy grew up. I should really start checking out his stories about growing up and his family and what not, maybe I will if I have the time. I will tell you this, Santorum is still the butt of joke on WDVE radio station in Pittsburgh. The majority of people here can stand him and he has been plagued with scandals. Maybe he finally grew up but I couldn’t stand his personality as a Senator and I assure you, in Western Pa, if it’s Obama or Santorum, Obama got it nailed. No kidding, most of these people are Democrats who have become so disgusted with Obama, they will vote the other side of the line this election. They will not vote for Gingrich or Santorum.
      Just curious, what is it you like about Santorum ? I mean besides his portrayal as being a holy little Christian boy saying all the right stuff about God ?? Is there anything else ? Because he is a progressive, I assure you. He was all about being a politician and pork like nobody’s business. Then the whole living in another state while holding office in the Senate area, while milking the school district of Penn Hills to send his kids to cyber school but wasn‘t even living here so his kids couldn’t even possibly go to the school district.
