Lawrence O’Donnell has launched a crusade against Glenn Beck and his talk of an impending apocalypse. As evidenced by prior proclamations that the “apocalypse is not happening” and that he is “driving Beck crazy,” O’Donnell wants Beck’s attention and is satisfied that he finally got it.
Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
“Tomorrow Glenn Beck will be torn between the businessman side of himself who wants dearly to never refer to me in any way again for the rest of his life and the religious fanatic side of himself that so far has been unable to resist the temptation I have put before him. Knowing what I know about Beck, his money and his religion, I’m betting on the businessman win.”

Posted on March 23, 2011 at 2:46amThe Bible has metaphors in it, so as to teach us about Christ and God. This idiot claiming to have all his education does not realize that. I will say it and say it again. Just because you have a piece of paper that says your educated does not mean your smart. In a lot of ways, depending on which School you went to (and I would include all ivy league schools in this), it means your stupid!

Posted on March 23, 2011 at 3:08amSigh…so many people on this board must think Beck is omniscient the way you people praise him. Many of you even go so far as to label him a “prophet.” He’s actually an ex comedian and pure hypocrite! But hey, I like him b/c he’s making $$$ off all the dummies who self identify as conservative, but are unable to factually support why they are conservative. America is great…even the parts that contain the uneducated and extremely gullible country bumpkins. Beck tells them (aka you guys…lol) what you want to hear. There’s no thing as fact checking among most of the conservatives on this board. Most of you are quite fine with concluding the OPINIONS spewed on TV and radio by these characters as being righteous and completely true.
LOL…this is great comedy I must say! Please keep the responses coming…

OK, moron. Glenn Beck backs up everything with video and audio. Larry proclaims himself to be a Socialist. Larry said this, not me. He’s a Socialist. I don’t believe that I want Socialism installed in the USA, mainly because Socialism is an idiotic concept that always fails. Capitalism is what makes the USA the greatest Country on Earth. Posted on March 23, 2011 at 2:18amI can’t vote for both? I vote for “Lawrence O’Donnell is an idiot and Glenn should spend the mere 10 min it would take to prove it for the sheer fun of embarrassing him because for his “twelve years of formal religious education” he has absolutely no understanding of the Bible. That or he’s just a dishonest hack who knows he can get away with twisting things in the Bible because his audience if full of ignorant liberals who could care less about checking the accuracy of his statements. Sure both are true, but I‘ll bet it’s more of the latter.

We need to stop giving them a chance to talk on our air waves. All it does is make them think they are getting through to us “racist neanderthals. http://www.theblaze.com is where we come to see this stuff. Not your radio show or TV show. (i tune in every day at 4pm) Michael Savage’s website is good for this too. I know savage doesn’t like to play nice with others but he and Glenn are the only ones telling it like it is. The most stupid thing Lawrence said is he had 12 yrs. in religious teaching, (and unfortunately he knows nothing) and makes jest at things which have been answered if you really understand and read and know the bible, even as a simple person as I am. It really does make sense to me and I thank God for it. Sure there are things we’ll never know for sure until God chooses to reveal them. I do wonder, but never question God.

Posted on March 23, 2011 at 3:56amI voted no, but not because O’Donnell is an idiot.
The success of the Glenn Beck program does not lie in his religious views being right. Rather it is because it has consistently shown that there are people who want to destroy America.
To be sure, Glenn belongs to a cult. But he is intelligent and open to discussion, and I‘m sure he’d be willing to discuss the particulars of religion with O’Donnel, just as it seems he is willing to have heated (yet respectful) discussions with some of the members of the Black Robe Brigade, who have said as much on the air.
What O’Donnell wants – aside from more viewers – is what every Lefty wants from Glenn. They want him to stop exposing their assault on America. O‘Donnell’s challenge is meant to distract the Glenn Beck Program from continuing to defend the Republic.
Even the most cordial of religious discussions take up A LOT of time. And there are quite a number of tactics and showboating people use to try and win the perceptions of others by attrition, or some other disingenuous way.
I would encourage Glenn to not be distracted from exposing the Left. Whether the end of the world will happen soon, later, or not at all, it does not bear on whether the Progressives are trying to destroy America.

Posted on March 23, 2011 at 7:23amHe is just another fear-driven, hate-filled man. Pray for him; sometimes those who mock Christians are actually closer to coming to Christ than those who don’t care about God.
The twelve years of theological education he brags about evidently only served to make him ignorant about the Scriptures. He was obviously taught by liberal anti-Christ teachers: garbage in, garbage out.
There are those today who are false teachers; they claim that “all paths lead to God”, saying that Jesus was just a good man or a prophet. They disregard His resurrection and His after-death appearance to over 500 people over a period of 40 days; the raising to life of a little boy and girl and Lazarus; the numerous instant healings of countless lepers, cripples, blind, and ill people; the casting out of numerous demonic spirits; the miraculous feeding of more than twelve thousand people; the authority He had over nature, etc. They teach that Jesus Christ was not God living among men. They ignore the hundreds of prophecies concerning the birth, life and death of the Messiah written hundreds of years before His birth which were and are being fulfilled in Jesus Christ. They have misconceptions about Christianity and Christ because they ignore the Holy Scripture itself. Few even read the Bible for themselves or they read it not with an open mind but with the desire to manipulate the words to say what they want.
Prior to His death, Jesus told His disciples, “Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me… I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also…” Jesus also said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”
Jesus Christ, knowing that man needed a spiritual guide, spoke on numerous occasions to His disciples about such a guide. Shortly before His crucifixion, and because He knew “all the things that were coming upon Him” (John 18:4), repeatedly assured them that He would send them the Holy Spirit to teach them and remind them of everything that He spoke and did while here on earth. Here is just one of those passages from the Bible:
(John 15:26-16:15, excerpts)
[Jesus said these things to His group of eleven "top-tier" disciples; Judas Escariot, the twelfth apostle and betrayer of Jesus, had left the Passover feast before this time]
“When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness of Me, and you will bear witness also, because you have been with Me from the beginning.. But now I am going to Him who sent Me… [I]f I do not go away, the Helper shall not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you… But when He, the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He shall glorify Me; for He shall take of Mine, and shall disclose it to you.”

Posted on March 23, 2011 at 7:32amThis guy says he had 12 years of religious teaching? He claims to speak for Christians? This guy is a heretic. The Bible is true from start to end, and any one who claims to be a Christian and denys God’s word is deceiving themselves. He does not understand the difference between the Old Testament Law and the doctrine of Grace imputed by Christ in the New Testament.
True Christianity does not “adapt” to the whims of society, man or populism. God’s word does not change, and it will endure long past all of us and indeed forever. If this man believes what he is saying, he is in for a rough time when the poop does hit the fan.
Glenn, speak the truth, but don’t give this worm the time of day. Pray for his heart to be turned to repentance.

Posted on March 23, 2011 at 7:36amO‘Donnell cannot prove that this isn’t a sign from God just as Glenn can’t prove it is. I don’t, however, remember learning that if I didn’t “Honor my father and mother”, that I would be killed; or for that matter, any of the 10 Commandments. They were a guide line (granted I haven’t studied them in a while), but where I do remember some harsh punishment is some are broken is Sharia Law – maybe Lawrence O’Donnell has a bit of dementia and is confused. Meanwhile, he still does not have proof that what happened in Japan, New Zealand, Haiti and other crisis isn’t a sign from God.

He wants Glenn to respond by preaching the Gospel on his show in an attempt to defend his religious beliefs. This is so unnecessary because Christians do not need to debate the Bible with non-believers. We have something that they do not have and that is the Holy Ghost. The Thing that those who are in the dark could never understand. The Thing that brings one from the darkness and enlightens the sole. All those cases about stoning an offender was during the time of the Law not the time of Grace we live in now after Jesus Christ. Also my Christian university taught the book of Revelation as the word of God so I agree with Glenn. There‘s also a curse in that book that says something to the effect that if you add or remove any part of scripture you’re cursed. So “selective” adherance to the bible is dangerous. 1. WHERE did Cain and Seth get their wives?
Adam and Eve being directly created from God and the purest humans had perfect DNA…. Cain and Seth probably married a sister.
2. Why have you NOT insisted that the ‘cop on the beat’ or the soldier who works on the Sabbath be STONED to death?
Stoning is not permitted in the US first of all. Second, even the ox HAS to be watered and fed on the Sabbath. Yes we should all honor God’s sabbath but Jesus explains some deeds have to be done on the sabbath. Security is one of them. Luke 14
3. Where does the dragon (the one Lawrence refers to in Revelations) live?
First it isn’t a real dragon. Sorry I know your disappointed. It’s prophecy, you know like a metaphor. Ask your preacher. If you have no preacher then first worry with finding God.
4. Did Noah REALLY put two dinosaurs (120 feet long) and Tyrannous Rexs (600 tons each) on the Ark – and how come the termites (which reproduce incredibly fast) not eat the ark?
No. Dinosaurs were not around with Noah otherwise they’d be here today. Can you prove termites were here in the time of Noah? If they were I’m sure two termites could be controlled and any offsprings could have been eliminated with a sandal.
5. How did black, red and yellow folks arrive on this planet? Black is one end of the spectrum as white is the other end. While I’ve never seen “Red” or “Yellow” folk, brown or tan falls in between that black/white spectrum.
The same way two pink flowers can make a white.

“Mormons are not a cult anymore then Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal, Catholic or any other denomination.”
While the denominations you mention (aside from Catholicism, in which there may be Christians depending on how much they believe in Catholicism) differ on non-essential doctrines such as how to baptize, Mormonism denies essential doctrines concerning who God is, such as Jesus being the God who created everything.
Is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints just another Protestant religion?

Glenn is very intelligent, but that doesn’t mean that he, or any of us, gets everything right. Just because we understand one area of knowledge doesn’t mean we understand others.

Good post. Do Mormons believe in salvation thru Jesus? Do Protestants believe in salvation thru Jesus? If both are yes then how is one a cult and the other isn’t? Their differences are in the details just as Catholics/Protestants differ on the details. And just as the denominations of Protestants differ on details.
Yes Mormons believe God created the world. They believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Mormons just don’t believe they are one being but 3 connected thru God.
I wouldn‘t go as far as to say LDS is Protestant but I can’t say they are a cult no more then the Catholics can call Protestants a cult.
Catholics use more books of the Bible. Catholics believe they are the one true Church. Catholics dress up like Mormons. Catholic believe Protestants are wrong. Catholics are considered Christians. Protestants are called Christians. Mormons should be as well.

Posted on March 23, 2011 at 5:29pmI think Beck has more important things to talk about, even on his radio show which has more air time.
O’Donnell seems to be very misled in his education about christianity. Christians generally make a big deal about the new testament being a new covenant. In the old testament, you stoned the adulteress, you stoned the child that dishonored their parents, etc. In the new testament you turn the other cheek. In the new testament you welcome back the prodigal son. This does not mean you aren’t reading the bible literally, it means you’re taking it in context.
Christ said “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” When everyone else left and only Christ was left…. He being the only one who was without sin and the only one qualified to, therefore, cast the stone…. He forgave her. That, by the way, is a LITERAL translation.
Furthermore, while I agree that most christians would say that parts of Revelation are not meant to be taken literally (the dragon is not a literal dragon…. the 10 headed beast is not a literal 10 headed beast… etc.) this in no way means that they don‘t believe in Revelation or don’t believe there are sections in Revelation that SHOULD be taken literally.
The most important part here is not who O’Donnel is, it’s the fact that one news agency has someone saying that no christian of reasonable intelligence believes in the book of Revelation. It’s another example of how far out of touch the left is from the right. THAT was worth reporting.

Sorry, but you didn’t help.
1. The Bible says NOTHING about Adam and Eve EVER having any girls – so where did the sisters – that Cain and Seth – married come from? and if there were any sisters does that mean that INCEST is OK by god, And if it was OK then why isn’t it OK now? And don‘t say because it isn’t law in the United States. That answer doesn’t work for me. There are hundreds of other countries (with different religions) where that doesn’t work either.
2. If security work is OK – and feeding the Ox (actually it is the pulling of an ox from a pit) is OK on a sabbath is OK. what about planting the crops, flying a plane, cooking dinner, attending a ball game (sports are BIG on Sunday). How about TV news-people or politicians meeting with their constituents. What about the shift workers (hospitals, prisons, manufacturing plants, Customs agents, Oil Rig workers?? Do they ALL fall under feeding the ox or security??
As for stoning – there is an article on this site which talks about a young man who actually stoned someone to death. But it we are to take the Bible as ‘The Word’ and we should live by the word and die by the word, then why isn’t stoning allowed – or is that only in Sharia Law which you can’t allow – even though the Quran and the Bible have exactly the same beginnings (worded differently)
3. JESUSFREAK says the Bible is true (word for word) so, I’m sorry to tell you but you might want to argue with him/her. I get the impression that YOU DON’T believe it word for word. According to the bible there is a dragon in Revelations which will be VERY dangerous during end times.
4. I guess you must be a bit of a Darwinist – since you agree that Dinosaurs were NOT around by the time that Noah built the Ark (in Genesis). So where are the stories that lead up from the time of the Dinosaurs to Adam and Eve and the snake?
5. Black, white, red and yellow people describe the skin color.
You might consider the American (or Red) Indian to be brown but it is the Latino peoples who are brown.
Chinese and Japanese have yellow tinged skin (thus known as yellow skinned people) – also slanty eyes and flat noses are also a trait
Black – well we all recognize them as having tightly curled hair, thick lips and noses
White – of course it is always claimed (in the bible) that there were only white (perfect) men/women – no other reference to color. And science has proven that (look at our President) if a black person mates with a white person the stronger gene is predominant (black is stronger) so it is highly doubtful that two white people would provide a black child. Just like a two white rose will NEVER produce a red one – unless genetically altered by science.
And since the world was flat, how come the Brown Incas and Mayans and the Red Indian were all in the Americas, the yellow were in the far east and the blacks were in Africa and parts of Asia. And I haven’t even mentioned the Swedes and the Huns. So when did all this distribution and of the various folks take place if there was nothing but the area around (what is now) the middle east – and why was that not recorded when the folk lore that went into the bible was finally written down.
One more thing. Was the great flood made up of salt water or fresh water? Was it cold (like arctic) water so penguins and whales could survive or warm like Equatorial water where warm water fish could survive (off the Ark).
See, I know my bible – but I also know something about science, geography and biology. It takes more than a lemming-like acknowledgement that the Bible is the BEGINNING of the world and is ALL true and the understanding this old spaceship we call Earth.
Have a nice day!

Mormons are good people but their Jesus and our Biblical Jesus only share a name. Two different personalities, two different people. So, no, Mormons are not the same as other Christians.
I suppose I would consider a Mormon to be a heretical Christian much as a Jew would consider a Christian to be a heretical Jew. A Jew could consider a Muslim to be a heretical Jew as well. We all still need to get along. O’Donnell is not about defending the true word of God. O’Donnell wants to destroy America and we should all be united against him and his ilk.

Posted on March 23, 2011 at 6:24pmThe biggest problem I see is trying to make a choice between two people and two positions, both of which are wrong. On one hand you have Larry the socialist and on the other Glenn the Cult member. And NO I am in no way trying to put most of Glenns political views down as I would Larry’s.
The problem is the choice between the two men is both are wrong and dangerously wrong. Larry in terms of his admitted socialist views and Glenn in his bizarre religion. Yes, I said WEIRD! Just Google what the Mormons believe and you will find yourself in utter disbelief. They are in no way Christians and believe Mormon men can become god and have eternal celestual sex with multiple wives. Jesus and Lucifer are brothers! There is no Holy Trinity. It gets even stranger but you won’t see any of their true beliefs on their very slick commercials.
I truly pray for them but it doesn’t mean I want the Mormon church in control any more than I want the socialist in control. We are already seeing the fall of our great country as true Christianity is becoming a joke for late night television.
And now Glenn is considering his own TV channel. Have no doubt it will be funded by the Mormon church as they finally see the opportunity to be accepted in the “mainstream” world. God help us!

I’m sorry you feel harassed! I’m asking questions which CHILDREN have asked me in the past.
How would YOU answer these questions to 6th and 7th graders – without simply giving them your OPINION. Being ‘non-religious’ I suggest options for these questions so that as these children grow up to make up their own minds as to what to believe; after all, no one should TELL someone else how to vote when they are behind that curtain, so WHY should anyone insist that they believe what an adult – ANY adult tells them to believe.
Oh, by the way, a man of the cloth (a Catholic Bishop) excommunicated my father for fathering two BASTARD children. See, my mother wasn’t Catholic and the church REFUSED to marry them – so they married outside the church – till death did them part more than 60 years later. So, if you feel that I am harassing you guys, you can call me a bastard and I will take it as a compliment.

To our master above I pray for wisdom and am grateful for your love. God is good.
I appreciate your questions as it gives us the opportunity to share truth, the word of God, with all those reading these posts. let’s get started.
1. “The Bible says NOTHING about Adam and Eve EVER having any girls – so where did the sisters – that Cain and Seth – married come from? and if there were any sisters does that mean that INCEST is OK by god, And if it was OK then why isn’t it OK now? And don‘t say because it isn’t law in the United States. That answer doesn’t work for me. There are hundreds of other countries (with different religions) where that doesn’t work either.”
Simple Genesis 5:4 explains Adam and Eve had many Sons and Daughters. Incest was not forbidden from God until Moses and yes it was ok as seen by Abraham marrying a half sister. It isn’t ok now because God says so. God knew how long pure DNA could cross before needing to stop.
2.” If security work is OK – and feeding the Ox (actually it is the pulling of an ox from a pit) is OK on a sabbath is OK. what about planting the crops, flying a plane, cooking dinner, attending a ball game (sports are BIG on Sunday). How about TV news-people or politicians meeting with their constituents. What about the shift workers (hospitals, prisons, manufacturing plants, Customs agents, Oil Rig workers?? Do they ALL fall under feeding the ox or security??”
Simple. Sabbath is the 7th day. There are two words used for our word “work”,
MELAKAH which means “employ”
ABOWDAH which means “servile”
Melakah is used in Exodus 20:10, Leviticus 23:3 and Deuteronomy 5:13-14. These refer to the 7th day work not to be done.
Abowdah is used in in the Feasts of the Lord in Leviticus 23 for the first 6 days. Those days nothing, no work can be completed and focus on God only. The last day, 7th and Day of Atonement, Melakah is used for this day.
Another example of this is John 5:8-9 Jesus heals a man on the Sabbath (servile)
“As for stoning – there is an article on this site which talks about a young man who actually stoned someone to death. But it we are to take the Bible as ‘The Word’ and we should live by the word and die by the word, then why isn’t stoning allowed – or is that only in Sharia Law which you can’t allow – even though the Quran and the Bible have exactly the same beginnings (worded differently)”
Bullet nor lethal injection weren’t around then. Stoning is equivalent to putting to death. Which is a more compassionate death?
3. “JESUSFREAK says the Bible is true (word for word) so, I’m sorry to tell you but you might want to argue with him/her. I get the impression that YOU DON’T believe it word for word. According to the bible there is a dragon in Revelations which will be VERY dangerous during end times.”
I believe the Bible word for word and front to back. Yes there is a dragon and mocking God is of the spirit of this Dragon. Why do you think the Devil is pictured as having horns/fire………….
4. “I guess you must be a bit of a Darwinist – since you agree that Dinosaurs were NOT around by the time that Noah built the Ark (in Genesis). So where are the stories that lead up from the time of the Dinosaurs to Adam and Eve and the snake?”
No not a Darwinist. The first two verses of Genesis reveals that the Earth was created with various life forms, Dinosaurs included, and then became a comic wasteland. The Earth was then covered in a deep mantle of water and all life became extinct. The Earth had become dark and void. God then continues to create the Earth we currently reside in.
5. “Black, white, red and yellow people describe the skin color.
Just like a two white rose will NEVER produce a red one – unless genetically altered by science.”
No question here but i will add black is not dominant as my nephew and niece are of white and black stock and they have red Irish hair and milky white skin but all bone features of black traits.
“And since the world was flat, how come the Brown Incas and Mayans and the Red Indian were all in the Americas, the yellow were in the far east and the blacks were in Africa and parts of Asia. And I haven’t even mentioned the Swedes and the Huns. So when did all this distribution and of the various folks take place if there was nothing but the area around (what is now) the middle east – and why was that not recorded when the folk lore that went into the bible was finally written down.”
Flat? World is a sphere. Your ignorant of genetics. Some can trace roots way way way way back. God said be fruitful and multiply. Man listened.
“One more thing. Was the great flood made up of salt water or fresh water? Was it cold (like arctic) water so penguins and whales could survive or warm like Equatorial water where warm water fish could survive (off the Ark).”
The great flood came down from Heaven as it did not rain in Adams time. The Earth watered from the ground up. Read Genesis. It is the first book in the Bible. Way different climate/weather and the flood caused a new climate/weather
“See, I know my bible – but I also know something about science, geography and biology. It takes more than a lemming-like acknowledgement that the Bible is the BEGINNING of the world and is ALL true and the understanding this old spaceship we call Earth.”
Science is a creation of God. Science in fact can prove every point above. Science proves God’s existence. If you had read a Bible you would have known most of the above.
Again I appreciate the opportunity to share these truths as I know them not only with you but for the rest of those reading. Your questions are in fact helping us share the word of God. Thank you.

Posted on March 24, 2011 at 3:17am@VerySeniorCitizen,
“1. The Bible says NOTHING about Adam and Eve EVER having any girls – so where did the sisters – that Cain and Seth – married come from?”
The Bible doesn’t say what kind of objects Adam and Eve wiped their butts with, either. Adam and Eve had many children – Cain, Abel, and Seth were mentioned specifically because it has to do with “acceptable offerings” and the sin nature of man, post-Fall.
Yes, incest was ok up until it wasn’t; and the reason offered for it not being ok in Moses’ time was that it was evil, and those in the land at the time were being destroyed, in part, for their incest.
This one’s got me kind of stumped at the moment, admittedly, but I suspend my disbelief on this matter for a couple of thoughtful reasons.
The first reason, like someone else mentioned, was that part of the paradigm of the teaching of the Fall is that a whole lot of the Universe was “cursed” (weeds impeded agriculture, childbirth became more painful, etc.), and it may be that the effects of incest that are witnessed today may not have been as pronounced at first, and under such a scenario it’s not the incest, per se, that is evil, but choosing to do so knowing the consequences on the child.
The second reason is that there have been several problem passages I’ve had to work through in the past that turned out to lend credibility to the writers and their motives. One such example is where the NIV version says that if a man finds a woman in a field and rapes her, then he has to marry her and pay the father a dowry (whatever that is). It turns out that the word translated “rape” in the NIV, in Hebrew means simply to “take hold” – a euphamism for “to schtoop”. What is implied is that they were not engaged, but they decided to get together, and so the man had to be responsible and marry the lady and pay the father a dowry.
It’s a good argument against the Bible, certainly, but I’m not ready to give this one up just yet.
“2. Do they ALL fall under feeding the ox or security??”
Jesus said that the religious rulers of his day had blown this one way out of context, since the Sabbath was made for man, not the other way around.
The prohibitions of the Sabbath had to do with, as I understood it, partly for agricultural purposes (as was the case for letting the land rest for a year after six years – at least I think that was the interval), partly for trusting in God’s providence, and for worshipping God.
So it seems that God didn’t want Israel to produce wealth on the Sabbath – and keep in mind that the previous day they were told to gather and cook enough to eat for that day – rather than it being a prohibition on defense, health care, travel (when God said “don’t come out of your place”, that was in the desert when God was providing food directly), or as when Jesus addressed it, pulling your sheep or cattle out of a well.
“But it we are to take the Bible as ‘The Word’ and we should live by the word and die by the word, then why isn’t stoning allowed – or is that only in Sharia Law which you can’t allow – even though the Quran and the Bible have exactly the same beginnings (worded differently)”
Remember that the paradigm in which this command is given is one in which everyone is directly aware of God’s presence and commands, and also that this is under a Theocracy. Ever since Jesus gave the Jews a new covenant, Theocracy has ceased to exist.
And since Theocracy doesn’t exist anymore, yet governments are still something God wants us to respect (Rom. 13), then you’re going to end up with governments comprised of, and run by, unbelievers. What’s THAT supposed to look like? Not a Theocracy.
That‘s not to say that adultery and homosexuality aren’t destructive to society.
“According to the bible there is a dragon in Revelations which will be VERY dangerous during end times.”
If you’ve read the book of Daniel, you know that in the Biblical paradigm, visions are given in symbolic terms – Nebuchadnezzar‘s vision of a statue’s body parts made of different materials, for example, symbolized different nations over time.
Same with the dragon with many heads which comes out of the sea and wears many crowns. It’s symbolic. The sea, as I understand it, is the population of the world, the heads are nations, the crowns are authorities in power over those nations, etc. It’s not a literal dragon.
As for the existence of dragons themselves from which the symbolism is derived, consider our knowledge of the saber toothed tiger, wooly mammoth, and recently the giant squid. Maybe the dinosaurs didn’t die off as long ago as the Evolutionists would have you believe.
“of course it is always claimed (in the bible) that there were only white (perfect) men/women – no other reference to color.”
I hadn’t noticed this.
“And science has proven that (look at our President) if a black person mates with a white person the stronger gene is predominant (black is stronger) so it is highly doubtful that two white people would provide a black child. Just like a two white rose will NEVER produce a red one – unless genetically altered by science.”
Barack Hussein Obama is lighter than his wife’s – as would be consistent with having 1 white and 1 black parent, he is darker than white and lighter than black.
The “black genes” (melanin?) aren’t stronger, they are part of the “white genes” that also make up his biology. Of course, to speak in terms of black and white genes is to make that somehow relevant, which it isn’t. The only reason people think in terms of black and white today is because there is a perceived cultural identity attached, and that is a racist position to take (which is how the “black community” keeps perpetuating racism and class warfare).
“And since the world was flat,”
There was never a period of mass belief in a flat earth – that is a myth.
“So when did all this distribution and of the various folks take place if there was nothing but the area around (what is now) the middle east – and why was that not recorded when the folk lore that went into the bible was finally written down.”
The Bible is mostly about the Jews, and so it talks about those areas which relate to them in some way. It’s not an almanac, per se.
“One more thing. Was the great flood made up of salt water or fresh water? Was it cold (like arctic) water so penguins and whales could survive or warm like Equatorial water where warm water fish could survive (off the Ark).”
Fish – this can be accounted for either by fresh water caves, or some mix of fresh and salt water which allowed both to survive.
Penguins – I understand that some penguins live close to the equator. Maybe adaptations within “kinds” accounts for those further south.
Whales – It’s colder the deeper you go.
Warm water fish – The equato existed back then, so you still had warm and cold waters.
“It takes more than a lemming-like acknowledgement that the Bible is the BEGINNING of the world and is ALL true and the understanding this old spaceship we call Earth.”
Very true.

A DOCTORS LABOR IS NOT MY RIGHT
Thank you both for your epic answers. I’ll bet they kept you busy for a while. I’m sorry!
However, nothing either of you have written is the least bit convincing. I have often ‘translated’ another language into English – and been criticized for my INTERPRETATION of what was written.
Consider how many times the stories which have been handed down and were transcribed, by dozens of monks, into dozens of languages – each with their own interpretation. Then they were re-translated! Many books were put aside and never made it into the finally accepted version of the Bible. And who made those decisions? Obviously there was one translation and interpretation for the beginnings of the Christian Bible, one for the Torah, and another interpretation for the Islamic Quran.
When people – whatever their origins, whatever their faiths and whatever their hopes, dreams and goals, learn to live together in harmony and good will – FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL, individual religions will continue to be a VERY divisive issue and will continue to be the cause of wars and hatred.
Yes, look back on history. Most wars have been waged either because of religion or because of the need for more land. The next great war will be over WATER. Who are we (you and I) to say that Christianity is the ONLY true religion?
http://www.adherents.com/Religions_By_Adherents.html
Back in the 1930s, after a Catholic Bishop (Catholicism being the largest Christian religion in the USA) declared (in a letter to my father) that my sister and I were born ‘BASTARDS’ because my parents were of different religions and not married civilly, it traumatized my mother until the day she died more than 60 years later – and made me VERY skeptical about those who represent ANY church.
Two more questions.
1. Who translated the pictograms – the only form of writing in those very early times?
2. The Christian (named for the Christ) is supposed to promote, love understanding and caring – so WHY do so many modern day (proclaimed) Christians preach so much vengeance, hatred and non-acceptance of others?. Too many so-called Christians DO NOT seem to believe in the Beatitudes (Mathew 5)
If you want to know my belief it is this: A man made edifice, man written words and theologies mean nothing to me. They can be morally destructive and they actually discourage debate about philosophy, history, science and mathematics. I also believe in ‘social justice’ (heaven forbid) because EVERYONE is my equal – as long as they have equal opportunities – beginning with a well rounded education.
However,
1. I respect the open sky, the green fields, the oceans and the lakes, rivers, streams which feed those oceans. And I respect everything (including those of different beliefs) in and on those places.
2. I AM my brothers/sisters keeper

“Thank you both for your epic answers. I’ll bet they kept you busy for a while. I’m sorry!”
Your welcome. Not much time was needed for these answers as God is good and well as you said these are questions 6th and 7th grade students ask a lot, so an apology isn’t needed.
“However, nothing either of you have written is the least bit convincing. I have often ‘translated’ another language into English – and been criticized for my INTERPRETATION of what was written.”
I share God’s word not to convince you but to allow you to have truth before you. What you do with it is your freedom from God.
“Consider how many times the stories which have been handed down and were transcribed, by dozens of monks, into dozens of languages – each with their own interpretation. Then they were re-translated! Many books were put aside and never made it into the finally accepted version of the Bible. And who made those decisions? Obviously there was one translation and interpretation for the beginnings of the Christian Bible, one for the Torah, and another interpretation for the Islamic Quran.”
God is good isn’t he. To think his word has been passed along so long and still be in tact and true. The errors come from man alone and can easily be understood thru a little effort and research. In fact that is our purpose, God.
The Quran and the Bible are not the same and are not equivalent. They each have a different God and purpose for God.
“When people – whatever their origins, whatever their faiths and whatever their hopes, dreams and goals, learn to live together in harmony and good will – FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL, individual religions will continue to be a VERY divisive issue and will continue to be the cause of wars and hatred.”
Yup. The Devil, that nasty serpent dragon uses division to destroy. Religion is not the cause of wars. Man and mans desires are.
“Yes, look back on history. Most wars have been waged either because of religion or because of the need for more land. The next great war will be over WATER. Who are we (you and I) to say that Christianity is the ONLY true religion?
http://www.adherents.com/Religions_By_Adherents.html”
What was the last true war for “Christianity”? Again most wars are fought for man, not God. God may be used as an excuse by man but not the reason for the war.
“Back in the 1930s, after a Catholic Bishop (Catholicism being the largest Christian religion in the USA) declared (in a letter to my father) that my sister and I were born ‘BASTARDS’ because my parents were of different religions and not married civilly, it traumatized my mother until the day she died more than 60 years later – and made me VERY skeptical about those who represent ANY church.”
Define ‘Bastard’
Why do you believe this upset your mother? If the Church messed up would it bother her? Or if she messed up would it bother her? And why would it bother her? Just a couple rhetorical questions to think of since you keep talking of this. Obviously not growing up in Church influenced you to not love God and seeing your mother’s pain made you resent the Church and God. Yup that is a shame but the opportunity to find God and love him is now and before you.
Two more questions.
1. Who translated the pictograms – the only form of writing in those very early times?
The pictogram translator
Yes you are correct, God is love and we should share that love with others as I am with you.
If you believe not in a “man” edifice Then how do you believe in Science or any other “man” made edifice?
Is Social Justice man made? I put my faith in God. I rely on God. Social Justice is the opposite as I must rely on man. Social Justice is nothing more then a man made device to control and steal others belongings. Im glad I have this opportunity to tell you we humans are not equal. Each is hand made by God and each has a different quality and talent another might obtain. Social Justice makes you a brick, just like everyone else. God made us a rock, after his own image, and I stand firm on the Rock.
However,
1. I respect the open sky, the green fields, the oceans and the lakes, rivers, streams which feed those oceans. And I respect everything (including those of different beliefs) in and on those places.
2. I AM my brothers/sisters keeper
If you deny God, it matters not what you do. There are two unpardonable sins I would like to share and hope you research.
Matthew 12:31-32
Mark 3:28-30
And here is my ‘toast’ to you. (you might have to think about this for a bit)
Here’s to as good as you are – and
Here’s to me as bad as I am.
For, as good as YOU are – and
As bad as I am ————
I’m as GOOD as you are – as BAD as I am!!
Nice toast but if you lack God and I love God then your bad is your lack of faith in God and my good is loving God making them non-equivalent. Your motive is yourself and mine is God. Its common knowledge, religiously or secularly, that it’s better to serve others then serve yourself.
Remember Jesus is the way.
Take care and again thanks for your questions. Good luck on your quest for God as if you were not seeking him, you wouldn’t be asking and looking for him. Peace be with you.

OK – I am an infidel – with no regrets – or ambitions to be anything other than what I am! I will not change, and when I don’t need these old bones any more I will be burned and fed to the fishes.
I have made my heaven right here on earth and I only wish that others could be as content with their lives as I am with mine. I lived my young life under Nazi occupation! Yes, the REAL, the original Nazis – NOT Glenn’s interpretation of them. He knows not about which he speaks – believe me.
I have helped those I could help and been helped when the need was there. A methodist minister once told me that he wished there were more “Christians like me”. LOL.
I have travelled around this country and Europe and learned what makes people tick (and religion has had little to do with most). I have learned about several religions (Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, Mormon) and in each and every case I have not been swayed. However, the Native American Indian’s idea of NOT owning this earth, but rather being the caretaker of the earth comes the closest to ‘godliness’ that I can think of.
It seems to me that religion has created ‘greed’. The Vatican is filled with silver, gold and art. —–Oh, and BTW, exactly WHAT do you believe (back in the 1930s) the Bishop meant by BASTARD – and in those years why are you surprised that a married woman would be horrified by it?
The Crystal Palace and it’s satellites is wealthy beyond reason, even while their representatives live hypocritical lives (pornography, child abuse, drugs, adultery and pure gold bathroom fixtures) while preaching against these things, crying on TV when they apologize and expect the rest of us to believe that “I have erred my lord” is enough for their parishioners to continue to support them. BULL!
Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be completely content with your lot in life and satisfied that you will leave this world – and the people within your reach – better off for having known you? You have just met that person. I only wish that you ‘religious’ folks (I can only think of you as insecure) could feel that satisfaction!!.

God gave you that choice, to be an infidel or a believer. Change can be good and stubbornness can be a weakness. Just saying. Good to hear you have things in order upon your passing. Didn’t know fish ate ashes though.

Isn’t it ironic you use “heaven” a religious term but yet you do not believe in religion……You created nothing, simply lived a life you consider to good or “heaven like” on God’s creation called Earth. Heaven will be truly amazing. Your post do not sound as if your content, in fact, you display a lot of resentment toward religion and seem worried with religions actions. “I have helped those I could help and been helped when the need was there. A methodist minister once told me that he wished there were more “Christians like me”. LOL.”
While your works may be of Christian faith and this Methodist man saw those actions, he did not know your heart, intent, but God does. For if you do not do things for God, you do them for yourself. Helping someone makes YOU feel good. Self serving is opposite of God and the Christian faith.

I have been on every continent except for one. While there are masses that deny and turned from God there are just as many who understand their sole purpose is God so I will disagree with what you claim to “Know”.
Native Americans I am quite familiar with. Be a good steward of the Earth is a Christian practice and if the Natives had it right how come most practice Christianity today……….
“It seems to me that religion has created ‘greed’. The Vatican is filled with silver, gold and art. —–Oh, and BTW, exactly WHAT do you believe (back in the 1930s) the Bishop meant by BASTARD – and in those years why are you surprised that a married woman would be horrified by it?”
Religion did not create greed, man desire and love for money is greed, i would say social justice is based on greed wouldn’t you? Does the Vatican or any other religion “take” money or is it given freely? If you notice it isn’t just religion that exalts the leaders, our President has the best of the best just as all political leaders of the world do….Are they greedy for us giving them the best or are those wanting others stuff greedy? Just a thought.
Bastard is a child born out of wedlock by definition.
So since you and your sister were born out of “wedlock” or a church based wedding, the true meaning of wedding, the Bishop actually told your mother a truth. Churches believe in being equally yoked and therefore could not marry your parents. Truth hurts sometimes. I’m quite sure had your father and mother repented and became equally yoked, a marriage could have occurred by the church.
“The Crystal Palace and it’s satellites is wealthy beyond reason, even while their representatives live hypocritical lives (pornography, child abuse, drugs, adultery and pure gold bathroom fixtures) while preaching against these things, crying on TV when they apologize and expect the rest of us to believe that “I have erred my lord” is enough for their parishioners to continue to support them. BULL!”
No one makes you contribute. Thou shall not covet another’s stuff.
“Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be completely content with your lot in life and satisfied that you will leave this world – and the people within your reach – better off for having known you? You have just met that person. I only wish that you ‘religious’ folks (I can only think of you as insecure) could feel that satisfaction!!.”
God gives me all I need so I do understand how it feels to be content with my “lot” in life. I was not created to make others “feel” good for knowing me, that is a self serving desire, but was created to share the love of God so as to make God feel better for me serving others. Insecurity is the lack of being secure and with God I am quite secure and those without him are searching or insecure endlessly.
My one true question and since you are reaching the time upon which you will see God soon I ask you to ask yourself, what harm would come from you believing and acknowledging God?
I’m not saying go be a Catholic or Mormon or Protestant as those are much deeper then believing in God. Acknowledging God and simply saying I recognize you God would do what harm to you?
Peace be with you VerySeniorCitizen. I truly do believe God will show himself to you, once you ask him to. God is good!

“However, nothing either of you have written is the least bit convincing. I have often ‘translated’ another language into English – and been criticized for my INTERPRETATION of what was written.”
Can you give us more than saying that it wasn’t the least bit convincing? Maybe say why each explanation falls short for you?
As for translating other languages, I’m a strong believer that translations should be word for word, especially the idioms, because what you will have is a way to understand how they put together thoughts – as difficult as it may be sometimes to figure out the idioms.
“Consider how many times the stories which have been handed down and were transcribed, by dozens of monks, into dozens of languages – each with their own interpretation. Then they were re-translated!”
This isn’t true. The translations we have today of the New Testament, for example, are quite soon after the originals were supposedly written.
See here.
Is the New Testament Text Reliable?
http://www.str.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=6068
“Many books were put aside and never made it into the finally accepted version of the Bible. And who made those decisions? Obviously there was one translation and interpretation for the beginnings of the Christian Bible, one for the Torah, and another interpretation for the Islamic Quran.”
As far as many books being put aside, as I understand it, it wasn’t because someone decided to pool all the books they had and try to throw some out – rather it was because there WAS an agreed upon canon among one group, and another group came in and said that there were other books that belonged as well. There were councils set up to argue the merits of both sides – a forum for debate.
What you’re doing (inadvertently) is sneaking in your own religious concepts and then simply dismissing others, much like you accuse other religions of doing. Which would be neither here nor there but for the fact that you’re not calling your views religious.
When you say “learn to live together in harmony”, number one, that’s not done in a vaccum – it’s only possible to live in harmony when we agree on a concept of morality; and number two, you’re saying “in harmony and good will, for the benefit of all” as if that was an inherently good thing – but on what do base that? Isn’t it based on your belief about how we all should live? That’s called morality, and in order for it to have merit, it must transcend us – that is, the authority on which your view of morality is based must come from outside ourselves. There’s got to be a Lawgiver attached to your morality, otherwise your view is not obligatory.
As far as individual religions causing wars and hatred, ALL wars are religious in nature – both the good and the bad ones. Consider that the basic just war motive of “It’s not ok to attack me for no reason” is actually a moral code, and like was said before, unless there is a transcendent Lawgiver associated with that code, it‘s no more obligatory than anyone else’s.
“Yes, look back on history. Most wars have been waged either because of religion or because of the need for more land. The next great war will be over WATER. Who are we (you and I) to say that Christianity is the ONLY true religion?
http://www.adherents.com/Religions_By_Adherents.html”
I think it’s rare that those who claim to belong to the only true religion, do so because they think they have the authority to make that so. Rather, it’s because they are convinced that their God has said so.
As for not one of them being able to claim that they are the ONLY true religion, since their views are contradictory, either only one of them are right, or all of them are wrong.
For example, Jesus said that we must “believe that I am” (first person present tense of “to be”; the word “he” is not in the greek) – a claim only the God of the Old Testament can rightly make – then we would die in our sins.
“Two more questions.
“1. Who translated the pictograms – the only form of writing in those very early times?”
The Bible was written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
“2. The Christian (named for the Christ) is supposed to promote, love understanding and caring – so WHY do so many modern day (proclaimed) Christians preach so much vengeance, hatred and non-acceptance of others?. Too many so-called Christians DO NOT seem to believe in the Beatitudes (Mathew 5)”
If you’re talking about homosexuals, it helps to understand that such a lifestyle actually destroys not only their own identity, but changes society’s expectations for what gender should mean – and that’s destructive for all of us.
That’s where my non-acceptance of them comes from. And I don‘t mean that I won’t try to tolerate their annoying mannerisms while trying to help them succeed at their job, or while helping them move something.
It’s a little difficult to flesh out, and I could, but I’ll offer you this article instead. It’s a very thoughtful article on the nature of being gay.
The Meaning of Same-Sex Attraction
http://www.narth.com/docs/niconew.html
“If you want to know my belief it is this: A man made edifice, man written words and theologies mean nothing to me. They can be morally destructive and they actually discourage debate about philosophy, history, science and mathematics.”
I agree that merely made up religions can be morally destructive, but notice that you’re again substituting one morality for another. You actually do have a belief about what it means to be “morally destructive” – and that’s a religiously based concept, too. It has to be, otherwise we could write it off as just your opinion that certain man written words are morally destructive.
And depending on the religion, they can definitely discourage debate, unfortunately.
This point gives me an opportunity to say something I’ve been dying to get out. The Jehovah’s Witnesses are NOTORIOUS for keeping their followers from debate! :D Did you know that they aren’t allowed to involve themselves in politics? That’s too bad – especially seeing that as citizens of a Republic, they already are participating in politics, whether they like it or not. And of course, politics and religion are basically the same – both have to do with how people should act.
In contrast, I would add, that the Mormons are pretty good at allowing themselves to debate, and I’ve heard that Muslims are the same way.
“I also believe in ‘social justice’ (heaven forbid) because EVERYONE is my equal – as long as they have equal opportunities – beginning with a well rounded education.”
Everyone IS equal – and that’s what our free market Capitalist, Constitutional Republic is based on.
Our Founders believed that everyone should get to own what they work for. Of course, since this included education, it’s not ok to compell someone to educate another – which is why education is not a right.
Our Founders wanted equal opportunities also, and our government was set up to do just that. And part of the consideration that goes into freedom and equal opportunity is that a small elite may not tell us how to run our lives – that’s not freedom.
What the Marxists want you to believe is that you have a right to compell others to give you something that they worked to earn. Keep in mind that the economy is not a zero sum game. If someone else learns or produces something, that doesn’t take away your ability to do so.

“However, the Native American Indian’s idea of NOT owning this earth, but rather being the caretaker of the earth comes the closest to ‘godliness’ that I can think of.”
That kind of thinking is actually quite economically destructive, and in places where it is practiced around Capitalism, it actually shows just how unproductive such a lifestyle is.
When you get a chance, please watch this video series, which covers some of your Native American ideas, including your belief that Native Americans don’t believe in private property.

Posted on March 25, 2011 at 1:41amI watch MSNBC and FNC because I want to be sure I know where MSNBC viewers are coming from and I must say, Beck receives an UNBELIEVABLE amount of free advertising on MSNBC by their commentators…also known as anchors. It is without fail Beck is mentioned at least once a night on Ed Schultz’s show, typically mentioned on Matthew’s show, and between Maddow and O’Donnell one of them will mention him nightly.
Recently O’Donnell has been going off on Beck and quite frankly it has been hilarious. Oh well, what will one do. I suppose as those who only watch one side and keep drinking the kool-aid, at some point he will ask them to drink their final drink, which they will do, and they will drift off into the night not knowing exactly what happened.
The more I watch their shows the more I’m realizing they are disconnected from reality. When Wisconsin was going on I remember Maddow coming on and exclaiming “WISCONSIN, WE’VE WON!!!” she was soooo excited. The following day the legislature split the bill in two and passed the union portion of it. She came back on the air and said they broke the law and it wouldn’t stand and yada, yada, yada. My point is, it is funny when they count their chickens before they hatch and then don’t know what to do when things don’t go their way.
I have a feeling they are “leaning forward” so far they have just about fallen on their face.
