Voters Strongly Disapprove of Obamas Handling of Economy, Health Care and Deficit SpendingOsama bin Laden’s capture was big international news. Regardless of where one stands on the issue, it’s hard to deny that the development was a major public-relations win for President Obama. While he initially experienced a noticeable bump in the polls during the weeks following the incident, his approval rating has since been on the decline.

The modest initial increase in approval and the subsequent decline may corroborate the notion that regardless of what happens during Obama’s presidency, the public is most worried about and, thus, responsive to the lagging economy.

Currently, Obama’s approval rating is 47.6 percent (based on Real Clear Politics’ average), with 46.9 percent of the nation disapproving of the job he is doing. But, the situation looks a bit darker when exploring where the public stands on various portions of the president’s job performance.

In taking into consideration recent polls conducted by CNN, The Weekly Standard provides an excellent overview of the issues that are most important to voters:

The issues that respondents most often listed as being “extremely important” were the economy (51 percent), health care (45 percent), unemployment (45 percent), and federal deficits (44 percent).

In another recent poll, CNN recently registered Americans’ verdicts on how President Obama is doing in meeting their expectations on most of these issues:  By a margin of 17 points (58 to 41 percent), Americans disapprove of Obama’s handling of the economy. By a margin of 17 points (57 to 40 percent), they disapprove of his handling of health care. By a margin of 30 points (64 to 34 percent), they disapprove of his handling of federal deficits.

The public continues to be most concerned with the nation’s economic standing, health care, the ongoing unemployment debacle and debt and deficit spending. The majority of the nation has a very negative view of the president’s job performance in many of these areas.

If unemployment and economic conditions do not improve, if measures are not put in place to control deficit spending and if the cost of health care continues to skyrocket, the president may face an uphill battle next year. CBS News discusses the challenges Obama may face:

Yesterday, the president said that the economic slump was “years in the making” and that “it will take years to get back to where we need to be.”

      Only some of us…the rest have their heads in the sand. When you talk to them, and they start to roll their eyes, you might as well just turn around and walk away so you won’t waste your breath. When everything starts to collapse, they will know who to turn to or to look for, as they will know then that you knew something THEY didn’t…but of course, by then, it will be too late (for them anyway). Right now they are more interested in American Idol and all those other non-learning, non-informative, strictly entertaining programs. So who cares if Bobby or Betty or whoever wins the singing contest or not…how is that helping their personal life or situation. Does having that knowledge put food on their table?….or money in their bank account. Who can rattle off the winner of the 1983 World Series off the top of their head (or who played)….or the team that won the Super Bowl 8 years ago and what the score was? That’s where they are. There must be alot of flashy TV programs buried in the sand somewhere, because that‘s where most people’s heads are. They must make up a large portion of the 48% that STILL see nothing wrong with the policies that have been enacted, the people who have been elected (or appointed), and the situation that’s going on here now. Still a major disconnect there!! How sad.

      I think you are being generous there. I work with a LOT of people who are clueless about anything political. You can watch their eyes cross whenever the subject comes up. Most tend to superficially listen to whatever headline starts the evening news before they find the remote and change to the simpsons or survivor or the like. As long as the lights come on and the TV works, they don’t care. Sorry to say this but maybe what we need is $5.00 a gallon gas and some power shortages. That might wake a few up.

      Actually, I don’t think that the big man (in his eyes anyway), really gives a rip at all about what his ratings are…he is still the Pres and he still controls the pen and the microphone and his mission is to now go full steam ahead (with the destruction of this great country), with the VERY good possibility that he might not make it into the next term. His ratings can go down to 3%—what does he care? Which can only lead one to believe that since he only has about 1 1/2 years left, he will need to start pulling out all the stops now. So stand by for things to REALLY start happening now. Personally, I think that if things get bad enough (which they most likely will), with riots, food shortages, no jobs, no housing and the like (which is being done intentionally I’m sure), he will just declare Marshall Law, have the US tied up in knots, preventing people from traveling anywhere to escape the cities and the best thing (at least for him), is that the elections will be more than likely canceled, which will still leave him in control…so what does he have to worry about?…and since HE will be the deciding factor as to when the Marshall Law will end, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out where that places us. Those FEMA camps might be sitting empty now, but wait!!!

    Question, why is it they sold Guns to people to be transported across to Mexico? Could it be there was other motives? Its like selling Guns to Terrorists, Why would you ever do it? Yet Obama knows nothing about it? Give me a break! He’s probably the one who gave the order to do it! I have a feeling like maybe he wanted the drug Cartels to start a Civil War, or it was to fight against the US! Maybe then he and the UN could get there Gun Laws passed? Its to much of a coincidence to understand that you would sell guns, and know they were going to get in the hands of the Cartels? Why? Like I said lets just give them to terrorists!       – Operation Fast and Furious contributed to the increasing violence and deaths in Mexico. This result was regarded with giddy optimism by ATF supervisors hoping that guns recovered at crime scenes in Mexico would provide the nexus to straw purchasers in Phoenix.

      That last finding is sure to anger Mexico, which has so far been muted in its criticism. In a March 2010 memo, ATF says it allowed gun smugglers to buy 359 guns while 958 people died in Mexico the same month. Internally, the agency was “trumpeting up the violence that was occurring as a result of an ATF sanctioned program.”

    Obama is such a double talking scam artist. He’s not sweating this at all. He doesn’t care. His economic policies have driven us into the ravine at the bottom of the ditch and he won’t give the keys back until the car is completely flooded with water and useless. His answer to these problems is to raise the debt ceiling, print/digitize and spend more money, deflate the value of everything and by the time his beloved voters figure all this out (because it WILL bite them in their butts too), he will be the leader of the NWO.     I strongly disapprove of Obama too but look, Boehner/Cantor/Ryan are enabling these $1.5 trillion deficits this year and next.
    Even Ryan’s plan calls for deficits of at least $400 billion a year for the next 10 years.
    We won’t last that long.

      Not only are we worried about the economy, the 1.6 million jobs LOST since the Stimulus, gas prices, the Fed printing money when it knows it’s the wrong thing to do, rising taxes, industry leaving the country, and the lies being fed to us by the mainstream media, I am wondering WHY!

      Obama either does not have a clue or all this is deliberate. And, he said himself that energy prices would necessarily skyrocket. Well, he’s closed coal plants. Way to go, when it’s coal that provides the power for the electricity to heat homes up north in the winter and cool in the summer. Food prices are rising because of the gas prices. We are on the brink of defaulting on out debt. We spend more than we take in. Banks are not lending money. Seniors do not get a cost of living adjustment, but the cost of Medicare is going up.

      WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY?
      No one will answer!

      That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, almost $4 trillion added to the debt in about 2½ years, and nothing is any better. That’s $4T over and above normal spending. Keynesian economics doesn’t work.

      Too many voters incorrectly assumed that, because he could eloquently read words written by someone else from a teleprompter, he was intelligent. That’s not the case if you really think you can spend your way to prosperity, while attacking business and wondering why unemployment remains high.
