First Glimpse of Awaited Obama Harvard Video

The video of a young Barack Obama addressing a Harvard Law School protest emerged Wednesday, showing the future president speaking out in support of one professor’s protest for racial diversity.

The 1991 video, posted by BuzzFeed, shows Obama — then the president of the Harvard Law Review — speaking glowingly of Professor Derrick Bell, who had vowed to take a leave of absence until a black woman was given tenure at the law school.

Obama: “And I remember that the black law students had organized an orientation for the first-year students. And one of the — persons who spoke at that orientation was Professor Bell. And I remember him sauntering up to the front and not giving us a lecture, but engaging us in a conversation and speaking the truth and telling us that he [inaudible] to learn at this place that I’ve carried with me ever since. Now how did this one man do all this? How has he accomplished all this? He hasn’t done it simply by his good looks and easy charm — although he has both in ample measure. He hasn’t done it simply because of the excellence of his scholarship, although his scholarship has opened up new vistas and new horizons and changed the standards of what legal writing is about. Open up your hearts and your minds to the words of Professor Derrick Bell.”

According to BuzzFeed — which licensed the footage from Boston public broadcasting station WGBH — this is the first time this particular video has been available online.

There is no indication it is one of the college videos Andrew Breitbart had promised would be released.

Update: Joel Pollak, editor in chief of Breitbart.com, said Wednesday afternoon the tape is one of the Obama college videos, though charged the footage posted by BuzzFeed has been “selectively edited”:

Earlier today, Buzzfeed’s Ben Smith announced on Twitter that video researcher Andrew Kaczynski had released “the mysterious Harvard/Obama/race video that the Breitbart folks have been talking about.”

The video, which Kaczynski says was “licensed from a Boston television station,” shows a young Barack Obama leading a protest at Harvard Law School on behalf of Prof. Derrick Bell, a radical academic tied to Jeremiah Wright–about whom we will be releasing significant information in the coming hours.

However, the video has been selectively edited–either by the Boston television station or by Buzzfeed itself. Over the course of the day, Breitbart.com will be releasing additional footage that has been hidden by Obama’s allies in the mainstream media and academia.

The full video will be unveiled Wednesday night during Fox News’ “Hannity,” Pollak said.

Update II: Ben Smith, editor in chief of BuzzFeed Politics, said in an email to The Blaze he was “puzzled” that Pollak didn’t reach out to him with the accusations:

We had seen a tiny snippet of the clip in a documentary, and tracked it to WGBH, the Boston public television station. We licensed and published every second they had of Obama talking. If Breitbart.com has more, we’re eager to see it — it’s fascinating footage.

The Blaze reached out to WGBH about the charge that the footage was edited but did not immediately get a response.

Update III: Pollak and Breitbart.com editor at large Ben Shapiro called in to Hannity’s radio program Wednesday afternoon to discuss the footage and to preview what the full video will show Wednesday night.

“It’s not just going to be about Barack Obama and his views, although that’s a big part of it,” Pollak said. “You are going to see information tonight on Hannity that proves the cover-up between the mainstream media, between academia and between Obama’s supporters everywhere to make sure that this information never made it to the public, never made it into the campaign, never made it to the American consciousness.”

Bell, Pollak said, “was the Jeremiah Wright of academia and would have been proud to say he was the Jeremiah Wright of academia, because the ties between Jeremiah Wright and Derrick Bell are very, very close indeed.”

“Derrick Bell was the originator of a school of thought called critical race theory, and he said that the civil rights laws were bad for black people because it encouraged black people to believe that there could be racial equality. In his view, the entire system, the entire United States of America was white supremacist to its core and therefore you have to bring the entire system down. This is what he taught, this is what he wrote, and these are the ideas that Obama says on tape are inspiring him and causing everyone to open their eyes,” Pollak said.

Update IV: Breitbart.com has posted part of its version of the footage of Obama speaking. Though the image quality is grainy, the footage shows Obama appear to hug Bell following his speech.

      PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING…

      Everyone was saying that Buzzfeed’s Andrew Kaczynski Republican who was just vetting the candidate but as I said weeks ago, he is an Obama operative. He is trying to take down our candidates with Buzzfeed. Again he released those editted videos of Romney supporting the individual mandate for the federal system but things couldn’t be further from the truth.

      Romney was for a bipartisan bill unlike Obama and the Democrats trying to force through Obamacare. Look at Wyden-Bennet, that too was a bipartisan bill, but when they couldn’t remove the individual mandate, Paul Ryan came up with another bill supported by Romney, no individual mandate.

      Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the Cold Case Posse had a Press Conference and disclosed evidence that proves the birth record Obama released on April 27th, 2011 was and is a forgery. They also proved that Obama Selective Service registration is fraudulent, which will eventually lead to Obama’s SS# being proven to be fraudulent. President Nixon was forced to resign for less, Bill Clinton was impeached in the House for less. Dan Rather and Mary Mapes of CBS were fired for less yet the Media has a black out of the Press Conference. Shame on FOX and the Republican Congress, we can expect black outs from the ******** but why the Conservative Talking Heads? We have a bunch of cowards in the Conservative world we live in today.

      Glenn Beck and his looney tune staff belittled Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his Cold Case Posse on his talk show. That proves Beck and Inc. are FOOLS! They demand their representatives respect and follow the Constitution while they trash it on the radio by slandering Joe Arpaio. Mr. Arpaio is a 60 year law enforcement officer, 30 of that was as a federal law enforcement officer. The Posse consists of retired career law enforcement officers and lawyers. What are the credentials of Glenn (the Fool) Beck and his co-horts on the radio station credentials? NADA, nothing!

So also can we compromise to bring health care back to a free market, away from the government health care. This is what Romney was trying to do. A free-market insurance market place.

If this happens, all bets are off, and I (for one) will seriously consider keeping a significant portion of my financial assets outside the U.S. (or re-locate outside the U.S.).

      There isn’t anything they could release that would surprise millions of us who know full well that the community organizer has always agreed with his mentor, Jeremiah Wright, and other black racists.

      It’s been often said, but bears repreating, that this man was a community organizer all his life, promoting NOTHING but blacks and black causes, so it is the height of naivete for anyone to believe he would turn 180 degrees if he became president and become a race unifier. And, of course, he wanted to be president in order to promote all things black of which the Marxist agenda is one, because it rewards on the basis of need, rather than accomplishment, as is the policy in Castro’s Cuba. That’s why blacks are almost orgasmic in their support of the communist nation.

      And, of course, he was VERY familiar with the racist, hate-filled, anti-white ramblings of Jeremiah Wright. I have no doubt he had many discussions with the racist congregation at Wright’s church wherein he was in full agreement.

      And just look at who has appointed to office? Van Jones, a black communist anti-white, anti-American hater, Mark Lloyd, a black who announced whites should step down from positions and install blacks instead. He has threatened and coerced T.V. stations to the point where blacks are now over-represented in t.v. newsrooms all across the country.

      Make no mistake about it, this community organizer has a “them” against “us” mentality.

      B-RAD…mostly I can’t listen to him anymore, I’ll usually just read a transcript. From something as minor as that whistle he has when he pronounces his “esses” to the outright lies and half truths that pour out of his mouth like outtakes from Linda Blair’s performance in The Exorcist. Yesterday‘s news conference was one of the rare occasions I’ve sat through his presence and he didn’t disappoint. When Ed Henry put Obama‘s own words back on him about wanting to see peoples’ fuel costs go up Obama ran for cover to this compliant media and they obliged him. He completely avoided addressing his own words and tried some weird “jedi mind trick” as if he‘d never uttered the words at all and actually wants peoples’ fuel costs to be lower. He’s actually on tape saying Cap and Trade would “necessarily skyrocket” costs for all Americans..and the SOB chose to duck and hide then completely ignore his own words. Breathtaking in it’s vulgarity. THIS is why Breitbart’s videos are so important. The media will not vet Obama and actively protect him.

      Hardly anyone thought that the MSM was committed to an anti-American ideology. They‘re socially liberal and just don’t care about religion, which is their right – but surely they still believed in individual liberty, we thought.

      Much less did hardly anyone think that radical Leftists were still trying to destroy the American economy. They were just a bunch of fringe anti-freedom terrorists who didn’t want to grow up, and who wanted to smoke dope all day and wanted the world to give them stuff, and who were intellectually defeated with the collapse of the Soviet Union and the many observed horrors associated with collectivist economies in other countries throughout history, we thought.

      To be sure, the anti-war Leftists were right to be against American imperialism – but definitely NOT for the reason they believed. Collectivism leads to Corporatism, and Corporatism leads to imperialism.

      Harvard law school is shyster university. Martha Minow replaced Elena Kagan who was hired by Lawrence Summers. Kagan brought in Cass Sunstein, Lawrence Lessig (Lessig describes his boldest act as smuggling a heart valve into the Soviet Union for a Jewish dissident in 1985. He hid it in the crotch of his pants.), and Jack Goldsmith. All Jews, who make up 1.7% of our population, and didn’t even mention Alan Dershowitz.

      Do you read with comprehension?
      Sheriff Joe proved nothing. However, he did put forth information that makes it appear that the certificates that were provided were fake. “Prove” is a pretty definitive word, so you should understand what it means before you utilize it. While I believe his cert is a fake, I won’t say anyone proved it until they actually do.

      Why Glenn doesn’t think the birther information is relevent is beyond me. I wish Glenn would release a statement as to why he don‘t believe this is an issue with all the discrepancies that have popped up with O’s BC, SSN, Selective Service document, etc. I believe Glenn has a reason that may be as simple as he just doesn‘t believe it will ever gain legs and go anywhere and that O uses this claim to bring absurdity to those that don’t think him a ‘Natural Born Citizen’.

      I have also heard a rumor that the reason this is not being pursued legally in any way that means anything is that “they” believe there will be a race war if O is tossed out of office. Of course, that is an internet rumor so God only knows what the real truth is.

      Beautiful job of laying it out! I couldn’t have said it better.
      If the American people are so stupid to re-elect this Marxist, racist anti-Constitutionalist for 4 more years they’ll get what they deserve. If that happens, maybe then the wisdom of the Constitution will come into focus.
      As for me, my money is in cash positions (for what that is worth), debt is gone, any debt my two daughter’s have will be paid by me. Improvements to the home are finished, guns/ammo are in place, and food/water is on the shelf.
      If this Commie is re-elected, and Hillary continues to support the UN gun ban ,we are in for a fight.
      I know lots of us talk tough about protecting our guns, but the day could come when Feds come knocking at your door for ‘your’ guns. Don‘t think it can’t happen. It has happened already! In that case, the 90 y/o answered a knock on her door. A Fed agent handed her a hand-written warrant and said do not talk to ANYBODY about this (the warrant)! Not your lawyer, not ANYBODY! SHE immediately handed it to the 72 y/o standing behind her, said “what the hell is this” and was arrested because, well, she talked to someone.
      Luckily, a Constitutionalist judge threw the case out, but the ladies went free instead of to jail for 3 YEARS!
      If someone comes to your door, will you protect your right? You should think about it before Nov election time.

      The best I can tell no one here knows what a college “orientation” is. If your kids are snobs and go to college, or even if your kids simply want an education and hope to do better than you have in life, here’s what it is, just FYI.

      Honestly it’s not an evil thing. Upperclassmen and women show you around the campus and show you the “ins and outs” so that you have some understanding of campus life to help you through your initial few weeks on campus. You make some friends, both people just entering and people who have been around for awhile to help you over that first shock of entering a tough academic environment. And sometimes they give your their opinions of who the best “profs” are! Orientation is not an evil thing, something that only liberals do. All colleges have orientations!

      I hope all of your children receive some kind of advanced education beyond high school. Call me a snob if you want, but I know having hired more than a few people in my life, it gives them a leg up.

      I’m afraid this entire incident has been a bit over-hyped, because I don’t see this as so devestating. It reveals nothing new about Obama. .

      This data here describes only his support for granting tenure to an obviously unqualified black lady and support for the racist Bell, but isn’t it well-known he was involved in that sort of thing? He was, afterall, a community organizer most of his adult life concentrating on advancing blacks and the black agenda to the exclusion of all else. Since that was his agenda in college, it’s hardly revelatory information of any significance.

      If the lemmings didn’t find Obama too racist and full of hate because of his close connection to Reverend Wright, surely they won’t care one whit about this either.

      If this is the entire enchilada regarding any kind of damning evidence it doesn’t amount to much.

      Yes, Bell is a racist, but so are many of Obama’s friends and acquaintenances. Everybody who voted for him knew that. That’s hardly new info, nor is it anything that will hamper him in the election.

      If this is all there is to it, it falls far short of what it was purported to be, which was supposed to guarantee his loss in November.

      I’m going to catch Hannity tonight to see if he can offer more information into the matter.

      Watched Hannity on Fox and, well, that was really lame! Not at all what Hannity was saying on his radio program earlier. I e-mailed Glenn’s staff earlier and they replied back that they were going to watch it also.
      Just replied back to them about how freaking lame it was. I hope some real BHO vetting videos are produced soon.

      The-Monk, thanks for keeping The Blaze informed about stuff coming up on Hannity. Good job. Seems like Hannity did a good job hyping these videos and boosting his ratings, even though there was no “smoking gun,” at least not yet. But there is more video yet to be released! Please continue to keep the Blaze informed – they ought to pay you for that! – please keep us all informed really. We all want to see the videos that were taken when President Obama attended Harvard Law, as these videos are slowly doled out to increase Hannity’s ratings with each release, so we can see the kind of person the President was when he working his way through Havard Law School and speaking out on his so called “convictions.”

      So far it looks pretty bad, him speaking out at a so called orientation and all, but I’m waiting for the stuff that makes him look really, really bad.

      He does, however, pause a lot between sentences and phrases, and stutters. His speech does not flow like that of a born orator. All the above are telltale signs that he memorized the speech, and keep in mind it is a very short introductory speech — more than likely written or edited by someone else.

      At present he is in the limelight and his brain is in HEAVY overload mode, so he utters a lot of uh’s, loses his place while reading, mispronounces words, rereads portions of his speech, and goes blank when the teleprompter malfunctions.

      Go back and listen to Reagan or Clinton or any other president in American history. They are all either intelligent or indeed brilliant. This idiot didn’t suddenly grow a brain. It is human nature to get used to the way someone talks, and many people have more or less forgotten what a normal president sounds like. Not me. That p*tz will irritate my brain as long as he occupies the WH.

      Breitbart’s “masterful editing” involved simply cutting the tape ata certain point in the Sherrod speech and ending the tape – there were no splices, no constructed statements, every word on the tape was uttered by Ms. Sherrod in the order it was spoken by her. Now, was there more to the story? Absolutely, but that video was uninterruped, unmodified from when it started until it ended.       This tape has NOT been released by Beritbart’s group – this is from someone else, and, irony of ironies, it is Breitbart’s group claiming someone else edited the video and that they will be releasing the full video tonight.

      His ACORN lies? The voter fraud stories that didn’t happen, then did happen, but they were isolated, then it was found to be systemic, then ACORN changed their name – that ACORN lie? Or the actual, start to finish, un-edited video showing an ACORN employee trying to “work with” a pimp and his underage prostitute?

      There are other channels than MSNBC you know…

      Yes, Andre Breitbart, Beck and Fox News lied about ACORN. Every Attorney General that opened criminal investigations relating to Breitbarts tapes came to the same conclusion, the tapes where lies, edited to remove the context and to present a false story.

      @LAINPA Yes, exactly right. How come o-loser doesn’t release his school records? One who is President of the United States should be glad to release any record…..unless….unless, he or she has something to hide… big time. He knows for sure he would not have been elected if his records were released. We can just imagine what are in those records. It has to be very, very incriminating, and anyone with any common sense, (conservatives, of course), would know that this is the case.

      WOW-I’m not even a big follower/fan of Alex Jones-but this is incredible. So now there are at least two reasons why the Muslim communist had Breitbart killed. Spoke to Sheriff Arpaio just hours before death huh? Yeah I’d say between Breitbart and the college videos and the possibility of him looking into the Birth Certificate/Social Security That was more then they could let slide.
