Want to See Pictures From America’s Cheapest Zip Code?

Among the cheapest zip codes in America (and by “cheapest” we mean areas where home prices are the lowest) the “median price of homes currently on the market is less than $15,000,” according to Business Insider.

However, the distinction of being the absolute cheapest zip code, well below the median price of $15,000, belongs to a neighborhood located in southern Detroit.

How “cheap” is this neighborhood?

Home prices in the 48208 zip code are about $6,388.

And, according to Business Insider, the neighborhood has got other issues:

  • Forty percent of households had an income under $15,000 in 2010
  • The murder risk is more than eight times the national average, and the robbery risk is nearly six times the national average
  • Thirty-one percent of residents over the age of 25 did not complete high school (twice the national average)
  • The size of 48208′s population has decreased nearly 33 percent since 1990 (and its forecasted to dip another 9.9 percent by 2014)

Is it all that bad? Judge for yourself.

48208: Americas Cheapest Zip Code

"...this two-bedroom, located in the heart of 48208, is listed for $1. The city can't give away homes in some abandoned neighborhoods. And this two-bedroom, located in the heart of 48208, is listed for $1. The city can't give away homes in some abandoned neighborhoods."

"Decaying homes, like this one on 15th Street, also abound."

Yes I knew it had to be Detroit before even reading the article …. This is what progressive rule looks like. Sadly I warned in 2008 that Obama would do for the country what Democrats have done to Michigan … the new Michigan Republican Governor is taking a lot of heat from the entitilement crowd .. I doubt that anyone can ever save Detroit from themselves .. I moved out of Michigan years ago. Just have a small cottage up in the northern part that you can’t even sell “cheap”.

I’ve seen a video of this area… this is actually not that bad compared to what I saw. I believe Democrats have had control of this area since (was it 1958? – something like that) if I remember correctly.
I saw homes with feces and was told they smelled like urine, abandoned homes being squatted by homeless and drug addicts, chemicals for a meth lab in one abandoned home, needles, gang graffiti all over, empty lots where homes had once been that were now being used to grow vegetables, wild dogs…
This place is the “poster child” for what Progressive Liberals do to what was once considered a nice place to live.

      WHY?

Many, if not the majority of these people from these poverty striken areas live a life of dishonesty and unethical practices of cheating the system, lying and stealing. Theft of utilities and services is rampant and most do not know how to manage their government assistance of which generations of them have become dependent on. Family is secondary and their educational system is corrupt.

This is what an “experimental” communist town in capitalist America looks like. I don’t have any prior indicators, but I’d bet you that more than 75% of towns with similar symptoms are union. Further, I’d bet you that if you went across the nation and looked at the “worst hit” they, too, would be largely union.

I’m so sick of cowards not stating the truth about why Detroit looks like this. Why do Detroit, Memphis, Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, New Orleans, etc. etc. have 20x the crime of Fargo, North Dakota??? Why??? You dang sure know why even if you don’t have the balls to say it. How does it feel to look in the mirror and see a coward, whitey?

The only coward here is you. You are so brainwashed that “whitey” is the problem that you can’t think for yourself, just spew the old one-liners about race. Do some research and you will see that the welfare state has been doubled-down on for 60 years. There are now 100% welfare families into the 3rd and 4th generations!! Detroit has been under liberal control for 60 years, and the result is a financially and morally bankrupt city, run by corrupt liberals that keep getting elected. Wonder why that is? maybe it’s all the free stuff they promise, and only partially deliver on? They keep the welfare-chained chained to welfare, and the cycle just continues.

By the way, try visiting Hunts Point in NYC, or St. Pete in Fla and then let us know they don’t look like this.

Yes folks, it really does look like this, and some of these pictures don’t really do it the justice it deserves. I live in the metro Detroit area and have been in every nook, cranny, and alley in this city at one time or another over the last 40 years. The degradation of this town is downright criminal, and we have a lot of people in jail right now to prove it. There should be a lot more of the cities so called leaders who should join them in jail, but that will never happen.

Take a good look at what liberalism combined with corruption has done to this city, because this is your future you are looking at. This is also the result of racism, by both black and whites, no one race is to blame, both share the responsibility. Don’t let anyone tell you anything different.

When you just give people a way of life where they do not have to work for what they get, and they just sit, do their dope, prey on innocent people to fed their habits, what do you think is going to happen. Nothing good that’s for sure, and nothing has.

I have no idea how we get out of this mess, because the list of corrupt people are just waiting in line to get their share of the government pie.

So take a good hard look my friends, this is not the America I grew up believing in, but it is the America that we are turning into, your time is coming. Unless you change things and I mean right now, Detroit will not be the only city that looks like this, your town will be next.

The only way to turn this around is to “MAKE” the freeloaders work for their survival. They will never turn their lives around on their own.

Pay them for half a week of work, and for successful testing after half a week of learning, but don’t let them just grow roots in the sofa watching TV or playing video games while they wait for the next benefits check to jump off the gravy train.

I don’t care if they pick up trash, deliver groceries for the elderly and infirmed, mow municipal lawns, paint over graffiti or sort recyclables, but they need to do something for the benefits paid.

My grandparents lived in Detroit when they came through Ellis Island from Poland in the early 1900s. My Mom used to take us as kids and drive by the old house where she grew up, and she would cry when she saw the condition of the house, because she said her Dad took such pride in their house, took meticulous care of the lawn, everything painted, in order, beautiful. Eventually, the house was torn down… everything has a season I suppose.

My mother-in-law was born and raised in Detroit until the ‘67 riots. A former classmate of hers, who became a police officer, said he gets calls to her old house on a regular basis because it’s now a den of drug dealing. Half the windows are boarded up, the gutters are hanging off the roof, and there is 4 feet of standing water in the basement. Detroit is lost. The neighborhoods will never be improved. The rest of Wayne County would do well to seceed from the county and leave Detroit on her own.

What you do is buy one for $100.00, announce a giant Support Obama / kill the bankers / eat the rich or what ever moronic cause the locals will fall for, street party complete with bonfire and collect a $1 or $2 donation from the 500 to 10000 locals who will show up. The scene is lighted by the bonfire which is the shack burning to the ground. You then let the city take it back for taxes while you deposit your $1,000 – $20,000 profit. Repeat as many times as desired until you can retire.

Who cares what happens to the area? If the locals will not take matters in hand to improve their lot, i.e., STOP ELECTING LIBERAL STATEISTS, then I can’t care what happens to them.

Now you have a prime building area, you are now a land barron and can sell to the highest bidder!! If enough Conservitives do this the town could become a republican town and push the progressives out! That would be a WIN WIN situation!!!

heck, that could be any one of the numerous ghettoed towns south and west of Chicago that used to be clean happy industrious prosperous neighborhoods before the black race riots and White Flight of the late 1960s. Entire towns are total desolate ghettos now because the whites moved en masse to get away from the incoming tidal wave of the black on white crimes.

Everybody depending on the gov. is the goal….
I think even ‘extended’ unemployment pay should be a loan (either partial or total), giving the recipient some sense responsibility. If the unions would allow, they could work off the extended unemployment pay. Years ago, during the expansion of a highway out of San Diego, they attempted to use prison labor to cut the cost to taxpayers, but were shut down by the unions…love them!!
