Want to See Ronald Reagan’s Doodles?

In the words of The Daily Mail:

It was 1981 and the world’s most powerful leaders were gathered in one room. US President Ronald Reagan could be seen putting pen to paper. While the other participants could have assumed the president was thoughtfully making notes, he was [in fact] doodling: scribbling heads, and eye an a torso.

This bizarre fact has come to light because the Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, Britain’s representative at the meeting, bagged the sheet of doodles sketched by the United States president and it is among papers that have just been released.

Historian Chris Collins of the Margaret Thatcher Foundation said, “She told me it was fascinating to see it, and she just grabbed them…He just left it on his desk. She snaffled it up, put it in her papers, brought it back to Downing Street and kept it in her flat.”

In 1981, when the doodles were sketched, Reagan and Thatcher were just beginning their famous friendship.  That January, Thatcher called Reagan to say, “The newspapers are saying mostly that President Reagan must avoid Mrs. Thatcher’s mistakes so I must brief you on the mistakes.”  He kindly responded, “We will lend strength to each other.”

The next month, after she nabbed the drawings, Thatcher reportedly liked the American president even more.  She wrote to the British ambassador in Washington, “I have great confidence in the President. I believe he will do things he wants to do – and he won’t give up.”

Margaret Thatcher’s 1981 personal papers are being released by Cambridge University and the Margaret Thatcher Archive Trust nearly three months after official record keepers made 1981 Government files available.

All politics aside, who knew the old man was an artist? If these were his doodles during meetings, imagine if he had the time to apply himself to a project.

I have read some of President Reagan’s papers. He was a thoughtful, intelligent man who understood the intent of the founders. He was a true liberal, in the original sense. The fact that the left has been able to portray him as a buffoon says more about the country than anything else. Remember, the left also portrays obama as a genius.

I’m not exactly sure what one would call that thing “occupying” the White House now.

My favorite President, in my personal lifetime. He wasn’t perfect, no one is. But he loved America, gave confidence to the American People, and made you feel safe from Soviet threats. He created an atmosphere of confidence, creation, and business growth.
I haven’t felt the same since then, and I REALLY feel 180 degrees from that, now.

I used to wake up in the morning feeling happy.I had unflinching confidence with that good old American fortitude.I just knew that my country was in good hands.I was born HAPPY.
    I’m not that way anymore.
I used to hug my wife and tell her “we’ll make it Babes.Bad times are temporary”.I used to believe it.
I used to tell her that all we read in the newspapers wasn’t true.
People lie and do.But baby, there‘s only a couple things that’s true.
That Star Spangled FLAG ,my dogs, guns,me and you.
    And I’m always HAPPY again,with you.Thanks Babes.

Reagan was a very smart man, who knew about economic policies and how the outcome would be! He lowered taxes, cut government spending and cut the size of government.

I admire his approach in getting things done! After all, he freed most of eastern Europe from Russia!

While Reagan was president, government spending increased, the deficit tripled, the number of government employees increased, and taxes were raised 11 times.

Top tax rates under Reagan were cut from 70% to 50% to 38.5% and finally to 28% by the time he left office. The taxes that were raised during his terms in office was due to “working” with the Dems to get things passed. Taxes as a whole were cut drastically and the country flourished. Money going into the treasury through taxes rose greatly with the revived economy. There was deficit spending, but it ruined the Soviet Empire, which couldn’t keep up, and it crumbled. BO has again tripled the deficit but he just gives the money to the unions and the banks.

President Ronald Reagan’s doodles are not any more special than the next guys doodles.Except for 1 thing. He was special.Once in a lifetime.President Reagan loved the USA very much and had more in common with everyday people than was ever put on in public. He personally knew John Wayne,Clark Gable and even Mae West. And he never compromised his principles.

“Whatever else history may say about me when I’m gone, I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears; to your confidence rather than your doubts. My dream is that you will travel the road ahead with liberty’s lamp guiding your steps and opportunity’s arm steadying your way.”-President Ronald Reagan

Don’t get me wrong because even though there is a picture of Reagan in a cowboy hat with Marshall Badge hanging on the wall right next to me; a major contributing factor to the Communism, and off-guardedness in the United States was because the Iron Curtain came down too fast. Moreover Satan pulled Ronald Reagan‘s strings in ways which he didn’t notice.

One can learn a lot from the doodles of another. It shows his mind was made up on many things because he took the time to doodle. I see he had vision, strength, a caring for people, and a caring for the small business person struggling.

The best way to lose the average American in conversation is to speak, or write in a complete sentence. There is no other way to thoroughly convey an idea except in a complete sentence, and therefore is one of the main reasons America is lost. And, even though they can not understand the structure relating to context of ideas formulating in a sentence they will still profess their arrogance by correcting a person’s spelling mistakes.

And, while we’re at it, it’s time to re-start the POST-IT NOTE CAMPAIGN, on every gas pump and grocery store shelf in the country!
