Want to See the Outfit That Allegedly Got an Ore. Woman Thrown Out of Walmart?

It was 90 degrees last Sunday when Sandy McMillin of Eugene, OR decided to head to a local Walmart with her sister. So she threw on what anyone would on a hot day: a string bikini top with bright red shorts.
Like your eyes now, the details of what happened next are fuzzy. Or at least in dispute. McMillin says that five minutes into her trip, a Walmart employee told her to put a shirt over her bikini top or leave the store.
“I was horrified,” McMillin told KVAL-TV. “I am embarrassed.”
“We just walked in, straight over to the clothing,” her sister, Karla Vogt, added. “It’s wrong. If you don’t like the way someone looks, don’t look at them.”
After that, McMillin said she was escorted out of the store.
“I hadn’t done anything obnoxious or outlandish,” McMillin said.
An attorney for the 51-year-old McMillin said the experience was embarrassing but he is more concerned about the way McMillin was treated because she is disabled from injuries suffered in motorcycle crashes.
A spokeswoman for the Arkansas-based retail giant said the employee was responding to customer complaints and McMillin was not asked to leave the store. Still, KVAL says Walmart has apologized, and quotes spokeswoman Ashley Hardie.
“We can understand her frustration. It was not our intent to offend the customer, and we have apologized to her,” Hardie said. “We have also reinforced with our associates our expectations of how to handle these matters.”
McMillin says she’ll probably still shop at Walmart – but at a different store.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Do you like to see minors that have been sexually abused, is that exciting to you? Enquiring minds want to know! I DO think it is strange that you are so strongly and verbally interested in that case since you keep pointing it out on just about (if not all of) your every post. I‘m not accusing anyone of anything but I’m beginning to think that if you ever decide to come to Texas you should let us know so that we can lock up children.

Posted on July 29, 2011 at 9:47amShe is using her disabled status as an excuse and this has absolutely nothing to do with it. Looks to me like her leg is in a brace and she walks with a cane. WalMart had customers who had a problem with a string bikini, above the waist-line. It sounds to me like she is looking to cash in on her disability, instead of having been beaten with an ugly stick. WalMart was just reacting to customer complaints, not judging her looks.

Posted on July 29, 2011 at 10:02am@beckisnuts: If you are soooo interessted in this fiasco here in San Angelo with Jeffs, why don’t you just come on down and sit in the courtroom? Jeffs is costing San Angelo hundreds of thousands of dollars just for his trial, and then he pulls a stunt like he did yesterday by firing all of his attorneys in hopes of delaying the trial. Well, Judge Walther didn’t fall for it and the trial went on as planned with Jeffs sitting at the table with his head down, not saying a word. Jeffs is the epitomy of evil. But, back to you, nuts, I am sure San Angelo will appreciate some of your money for motels and restaurants. Come on down!

“Jeffs’ more than 10,000 followers across North America see him as a prophet who serves as God’s spokesman on earth. The sect Jeffs leads broke off from the mainstream Mormon Church 72 years ago.”
Beck is a mormon, this Jeffs guy is not. If you are trying to say that all followers of Jesus are crazy using this man as prime evidence, maybe look up what Jesus actually said in his ministry and then decide for yourself if he has anything to do with following Christ.

It is a private company, they should be able to tell you to dress or leave. However, since they have deep pockets that all changes. Don’t get me wrong, I am no fan of Wal-Mart, I am from Arkansas, lived in Bentonville for a long time (now in AZ) and worked for the Home Office. It’s like a cult and the poltical correctness that smothers you in those buildings is overwhelming. Posted on July 29, 2011 at 4:24pmmdlwoods, I’d be happy to educate you on Cleon Skousen. As you know, Glenn Beck has been inciting his audience to read the work of W. Cleon Skousen, a man so insane, nasty and extreme that ultimately even the Birch-supporting leadership of the Mormon Church had to distance itself from him. It’s from Skousen’s demented screed The Five Thousand Year Leap (to a new edition of which Beck wrote a foreword, and which he shoved to the position of No. 1 on Amazon) that he takes all his fantasies about a divinely written Constitution, a conspiratorial secret government, and a future apocalypse. To give you a further idea of the man: Skousen’s posthumously published book on the “end times” and the coming day of rapture was charmingly called The Cleansing of America. A book of his with a less repulsive title, The Making of America, turned out to justify slavery and to refer to slave children as “pickaninnies.” And, writing at a time when the Mormon Church was under attack for denying full membership to black people, Skousen defended it from what he described as this “Communist” assault.
Face it, you are like most Becklers, you accept every spoonful of nonsense Glenn feeds you without doing any research. As a long time conservative, I started realizing Glenn was heading down the wrong path over a year ago when he started crying and banging the drum of armageddon. You should wake up yourself.

I have done a lot of research on Cleon Skousan and The John Birch Society and you know what? Seems that every thing I have read about what you claim all come from left wing news or organizations like The Daily Kos. The fact is these left wing news organizations and other organizations have done nothing more than engaged in character assassination by selecting fact and distorting those facts and disguising it as the truth. Nothing that I have read in my research has proven that the John Birch Society distance themselves from Skousan, in fact every thing I have read is in total opposite and JBS was very supportive of Skousan. Again you just proved yourself as someone who is incompetent of telling the truth.

Report Post »awizard
Posted on July 29, 2011 at 10:28am@jilsoft; The answer is NO!.. “No shirt, no shoes, no service” … Walmart sells food, they are “grocery stores”, you don’t walk into a “grocery store” dressed like that. The local one out here has a McDonald’s in it, they “Serve Food”?.. Most shops around here don’t allow tank tops or muscle shirts let alone “string bikini’s” , I/they don‘t care if you’re 18 or 51 … Use some “common sense” something we are sorely missing in this country these days …
And then there’s “Cripple Part” … and “The Lawyer” thing?.. Someone tell that woman to “Grow up and get a life …

Posted on July 29, 2011 at 9:15amIn a politically correct America, pointing and laughing would be insensitive to the freaks feelings. Even though that’s what most people would feel like doing, that sort of reaction would have to be suppressed. Enough suppression eventually = explosion. Give me back the good old days. Posted on July 29, 2011 at 9:33amHanna baby, I am too old to drool at the sexiest fashion model in a bikini in a Walmart…
As I said, I live in Florida. I have seen more semi-nude women in my life than any man has a right to…I do not drool over anything.
But you do have a point. If this was a 20 something year old with a slim body I am sure no one would have objected. By the same token, my time of walking around topless and in nothing but tight shorts has long passed also, I accept that and I would not gross out others (except my family in my home) by doing so. It is time this lady figured that out.

Posted on July 29, 2011 at 8:30amI‘m offended that she’s offended. There’s only one reason to wear a “String Bikini Top” in public unless you’re at a beach or a pool, and that is for attention. She clearly was not being discriminated against because she’s unattractive or disabled: it’s INAPPROPRIATE, just like the people who show up with their thongs hanging out, their breasts flopping out, or their pants down around their knees. I hope Wal-Mart stands its ground and DOES NOT offer some sort of compensation for her “pain & suffering.” If they do, then I say that she owes compensation to everyone in the store that had to see her dressed like that. Just my opinion…
